Bullitt for the first time made Omsk the champion

Omsk “Avangard” for the first time in its history became the champion of Russia in hockey. The team of Valery Belousov beat Metallurg in Magnitogorsk in a shootout, and the Czech Jaroslav Bednarzh scored the golden shootout.

The goalkeeper of the Russian national team Maxim Sokolov again became the hero of the meeting, who missed only one bullet during the entire match, including the main 70 minutes.

It was the most beautiful definition of the winner in the history of Russian hockey, even if it was decided in the end in the post-match lottery. For the first time in the history of the championships of Russia, the champion was determined in the fifth, “golden” match. For the first time, the winner of the shootout series became the best in the country: the main and extra time of the match in Magnitogorsk ended in a goalless draw.

The Omsk team had a slight psychological advantage before the fifth match. In the fourth game, the team managed to win back a two-goal head start and win in regulation time — 3:2. Moreover, the “metallurgists” played well, they just believed in success early. And they were punished. But it turned out that the nerves of the hosts are strong. Those who are nervous because of such trifles do not play in the finals.

The fifth game once again confirmed that the two best teams of the country really met in the final. The final meeting of the final series turned out to be colorful and tense. It’s a pity there were no goals, but the goalkeepers, who acted “excellently”, are “guilty” of this. Even the referee didn’t break the script and canceled Metallurg’s “clean” goal.

This episode took place in the third period of the match, and what referee Bokarev saw there is not clear. There was a normal Nikitin throw from the blue line. The puck either ricocheted off someone, or just Maracle was not ready, but the disk flew into the goal. The players fought near the goal, as it should be.

The referee confidently showed a goal, but then went to watch the “video”. Judging by his further actions, the Kazan judge read the moment like this: during Nikitin’s throw, Sushinsky hooked Maracle, and he lost his balance. The Russian national team player was given two minutes for “attacking a player who does not own the puck. ” The guests, of course, protested, but then decided to save their nerves. And, as it turned out, they did the right thing.

But before this important episode, there were still many moments when the score on the scoreboard could change. It seemed that in the first period the Omsk team chose defensive tactics, thanks to which, for example, Dynamo and Lada were beaten.

Only now it is clear that Valery Belousov simply decided not to splash his strength. He was not going to play indoor hockey.

But still, the step was quite risky. And we must thank goalkeeper Maxim Sokolov, who pulled out at least four “dead” washers. After all, the guests once had to play in the double minority. But they survived.

But starting from the second period Avangard dictated the game. The advantage was on the side of the Omsk team and, although it was not overwhelming, it was quite sufficient for the final. Metallurg rarely attacked, though no less sharply, but still they had fewer chances to win the match. Although here in the majority of the Urals acted much sharper than their opponent. But still failed to score. Both teams were very active for the entire 60 minutes plus half of overtime (in the second half, the opponents were already waiting for the shootouts and acted extremely cautiously). But for the time being, they were unable to break through either Maracle or Sokolov. And when the guests did once succeed, the referee intervened.

There were many dangerous moments. On the “patch” during the attacks, something unimaginable happened. If not for the final, then, probably, the teams ended the game with significantly reduced squads.

Because it was impossible to survive in these situations. Opponents were smeared on the ice, beaten with sticks.

This made the attackers nervous as well. How, for example, did Bednarzh not manage to throw the lying Maracle when he was alone in front of the gate?! And after all, he aimed exactly under the bar, but the Canadian goalkeeper managed to set a trap. And how did Evgeny Koreshkov not score when he broke through the center?! It was clear that only one puck would decide the fate of the match. In the end, that’s how it all worked out. The outcome of the meeting was decided by a precisely executed free throw

Norm Maracle failed to save his team in two cases – when Subbotin and Bednarzh were abandoned. Maxim Sokolov folded only after Weitz’s throw. And when Karpov, the acknowledged shooter master, couldn’t beat him, Maxim jumped for joy so high, as if 70 minutes of hard play hadn’t happened.

After the game, everyone started crying. Valery Belousov did not believe that he succeeded. And he was also worried because he managed to win in Magnitogorsk, where he was preferred to the foreigner Marek Sikora last summer. The hosts cried from disappointment – Varlamov, Weitz, Maracle. Tears of joy were on the faces of the wives of the Avangard players who jumped onto the ice just in time for the award. Let’s not talk about the audience.

However, fans do have a reason to be upset. A very interesting tournament has ended. And now there will be no hockey in Russia until autumn. “Vanguard” should be congratulated on the victory. They are rightfully the strongest in the country.

Georgiev was more successful than Shesterkin. Nichushkin excelled again.

In North America, the game day of the regular season of the National Hockey League continues. The Stanley Cup-winning Colorado Avalanche outplayed the New York Rangers in a shootout.

Two former teammates met in a mate at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Last season, Igor Shesterkin and Alexander Georgiev alternately defended the gates of the Rangers. But in the summer, Alexander moved to Colorado and came to New York as an Avalanche goalie.

Shesterkin was the first to concede in this meeting. Forward “Colorado” Valery Nichushkin scored the seventh goal of the season. But the guests could not win either in regular time or in extra time – 2:2. I had to resort to the help of shootouts, which were better performed by Avalanche hockey players 2:1, the Rangers had the only shootout realized by Artemy Panarin. Shesterkin and Georgiev conceded two goals each. Igor saved 42 shots, Alexander – 44.

The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Florida Panthers 4-2 on home ice.
