The Ministry of Labor intends to study the requests of Belarusians for babysitting services, the possibility of territorial centers, and the availability of personnel.

“All this will be studied, on the basis of this, proposals will be developed for the development of the social service system and they will already be put into legislation. We plan that babysitting services will take on new forms and be available to a wider range of families,” said Marina Artemenko, head of the Department of Population, Gender and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus. The nannies, on the other hand, say that for their work (not a part-time job, but a responsible and long-term job), a real vocation is needed: no one remains a nanny for a long time without love for children and a sincere willingness to help. However, even such people come across arrogant, picky and distrustful parents and, of course, capricious, spoiled or passive children.

Metropolitan nannies told Sputnik Belarus what pisses them off about the behavior of parents and their children, why they hate working with some parents and children, what accusations they hear about them and how they can be offended. And you can’t write all these nuances in the law.

Spoiled children and parents who take care of them too much

This is perhaps the biggest problem of modern families: a child is shaken so that he turns out to be either completely dependent, or wildly intimidated, or simply arrogant (and sometimes all at once).

It is impossible to captivate them with anything, they are not even able to pour themselves a glass of milk, they are afraid to communicate with other babies on the street, or they simply behave completely passively, convinced that adults will do everything for them. It is obvious that it is not only nannies who find interaction difficult. After all, once these children go to kindergarten and school, they will have to get used to the fact that there is not always a person nearby who is able to solve all problems.

“You don’t have to raise my child”

Many adults are completely unreceptive to constructive criticism of their own child. They do not believe that a child who falls on the floor in a store and starts a tantrum because of a toy that was not bought for him is doing something wrong, they justify any of his strange deeds – “he is still small.”

It pisses me off that some mothers, busy living outside the home and devoting half an hour a day to their children, do not consider the opinion of a governess who spends whole days with their babies at least somewhat significant. Such advise “to give birth to their own, so that there is someone to educate,” and ask them not to interfere with advice. But almost everyone who provides babysitting services has their own children, so they come to their parents out of the best of intentions with the thought “who, if not me.”

There are also reverse situations. Babysitters love children very much, that’s why they go to this job. So it is very sad to watch how parents beat a child (sometimes for no good reason at all) or yell at him endlessly, ignore children’s successes, brush off his attempts to win his mother’s attention and affection, it is very sad. Most people react extremely aggressively to the attempt of other people in such situations to protect the child, and this infuriates.

Distrustful and suspicious

It is likely that unscrupulous representatives of our profession are to blame for the fact that parents at first do not trust governesses and try in every possible way to check the purity of their thoughts. And yet sometimes it crosses all boundaries.

CCTV in the house is a common thing, but the camera in the bathroom is always puzzling. Jewelry and money allegedly accidentally scattered around the apartment are no less enraging. According to the experience of colleagues, some directly fake provocations are arranged to see how the nanny will behave in a stressful situation.

It happens that they are accused of something that the nanny did not do, and then, without shame or embarrassment, they take the words back – they say, it is obvious that there is no one else to think about! It is better for such incredulous parents to look for a nanny not on the network, but on the recommendations. Maybe they will not arrange crazy checks, at least for those governesses who also work with their acquaintances?

They forget that nannies also have a private life

Those who provide childcare and childcare often have to work very differently from the agreed schedule: some of them are convinced that for the sake of overtime, the governess is ready to turn all her plans on their feet on the head. It starts, as a rule, with the fact that parents “accidentally stay late at work / away” a couple of times, but soon it becomes a tradition.

Further – like a snowball: first, the nanny looks after the child for seven hours instead of five, after that light daily cleaning is added to the care of him, and then the preparation of lunches / dinners. Undoubtedly, for some, this is an additional opportunity to earn money. But the nanny comes to the children’s house, and for other services it is better to contact specialized organizations.

Arrogant

They sin by considering the nanny to be a servant. It is noteworthy that this does not depend on what exactly is included in the services of a nanny: for example, some teach a child a foreign language, having the appropriate education, others teach him to play musical instruments. And even these seemingly advantages do not guarantee parental respect.

When such parents leave home, they leave tasks for the nanny for the day (just like Cinderella). And if you try to be indignant at too high a load, they arrogantly raise an eyebrow and either offer to find an easier job for themselves, or immediately take out a wallet.

The ideal employer…

…first of all, stick to the agreed schedule. Such a parent respects the personal time of the nanny, and if it is delayed, he always warns her about it, not forgetting about overtime.

Perfect parents don’t leave the nanny to keep the house: it’s easy for us to cook dinner on a night when you’re overwhelmed with work, but it’s unfair to pass on all the housework to us, albeit for a generous extra charge.
