Bobbi H.

Bobbi has been with my family for the last 4 years. I have never once had to worry about the well being of my children when they are in her care. She truly loves them as if they were her own. She is only leaving us as my youngest is off to kindergarten in the fall. I would keep her forever if Icould. She will always be a part of our lives as my kids would be devastated to never see her again. Any family would be lucky to have her….

Antoinette D.

Antoinette is very dependable, thorough, and friendly. She does a fantastic job cleaning our home. She is always on time and does a great job. I highly recommend her work!

Liz is amazing with my children. She quickly won over my reticent toddler, and now Liz is one of her favorite people! Liz always gets my two kiddos out of the house, to the park or for a stroll, and I love that they clearly have so much fun with her. I completely trust her with my kids, and we areso lucky to have found her….

FAQs for finding a mother’s helper

What is a mother’s helper?

A mother’s helper tackles a lot of the same babysitter duties that a normal babysitter does. For example, a mother’s helper can help with homework. The main difference between a sitter and a mother’s helper is that usually, mother’s helpers are on the younger side and are considered to be a “babysitter in training”. Typically, they aren’t old enough to be left all alone with children, but can lend busy parents a helping hand while they’re home to provide some level of supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a mother’s helper?

Mother’s helper rates start at $17.43, but the cost of hiring a mother’s helper can vary a lot based on their years of experience, the area you live in, and the tasks you want them to assist with.

Is hiring a mother’s helper safe?

While it’s best to do your own interview, check references, and conduct an independent background check to help find a mother’s helper you can trust, mother’s helpers on Care.com complete an annual background check called a CareCheck. Those who complete this background check have a badge on their profile displaying the date it was run.

If hiring a nanny is too much of a commitment, consider bringing on a “babysitter in training” to keep your kids entertained, assist with homework or perform simple tasks.

You’ve heard it before: Being a mom is one of the toughest jobs in the world. So, cut yourself some slack when you feel overwhelmed by the millions of things you balance every day. Honestly, any mom or dad would welcome a little bit of assistance now and then.

If you’re worried that hiring a nanny is too much of a cost commitment, you might want to consider getting a mother’s helper — someone who can watch over your kids, run errands, or perform some simple housework tasks.

What is a mother’s helper?

Considered a “babysitter in training,” a mother’s helper helps parents. They are babysitters generally considered too young to care for children on their own but old enough to responsibly play with children while parents are busy (yet present). Most mother’s helpers find jobs with families that have more than one child.

While mom is feeding the baby, a mother’s helper can keep the older children occupied. In addition to playing with the children, a mother’s helper may be asked to perform light housework or run errands. During the holidays, mothers’ helpers can be hired to help wrap gifts, decorate the house and even assist with baking.

If you are currently taking babysitter classes, you may want to become a mother’s helper, which would offer you a chance to get hands-on experience and some great references.

What does a mother’s helper do?

Here are some great ways that a mother’s helper can make life a little easier:

  1. Entertain the toddler while you feed, soothe, tend to a baby.
  2. Do the dishes while you play with the kids.
  3. Play with the kids while you jump on a conference call.
  4. Make easy lunches.
  5. Insert some energy when you’re lagging.
  6. Help with homework.
  7. Allow you to take a much-needed nap/shower/bathroom break.
  8. Watch “Frozen” for the millionth time.
  9. Get covered in paint and dirt.
  10. Be a positive role model for the little ones.
  11. Allow your to get the stuff done — pay bills, organize the house, anything!
  12. Get extra stuff done so you can enjoy more time with your kids.

Partner not convinced? Here are five ways to convince them.

While a mother’s helper can do wonders to alleviate some of your daily stress as a stay-at-home parent, you may find that your partner requires a bit of convincing. Here are five things you can do to help your partner understand why you feel this helper is necessary and how she will benefit your whole family:

1. State your case

A common misconception, particularly when it comes to stay-at-home moms, is that you have extra time on your hands. After all, you know from experience that your days are jam-packed with everything from cooking to cleaning to school drop-offs. Inform your partner of all the things you do each day and how much time these tasks usually require. They may not be aware of the hundreds of little things you do that add up to an entire day’s worth of work.

2. Record everything that doesn’t get done

You should also create a list of all the tasks you just don’t have the time to accomplish. For instance, you might wish that you were able to deep clean your bathrooms on a more regular basis, or do laundry before the bin is literally overflowing.

Go over this list with your partner so they’re aware of just how much doesn’t get done due to time constraints. You might also want to keep track of how long it’s been since you’ve been able to do a particular task.

3. Suggest that you establish a trial period

Does your partner still have their doubts about how much of a difference this figure would make to your everyday lives? Suggest hiring a mother’s helper for a week or two. That way, you can test the waters and see how beneficial they would actually be.

4. Discuss long-term goals

It’s also important for you to talk about the long-term goals you would like to achieve by getting a mother’s helper. Perhaps this caregiver can watch over your little one on the school playground while you volunteer to direct the school play or teach a STEM lesson for the science club after school. Or, maybe you want to start your own book club or a running group but never have time to do so because you’re so busy doing chores and running errands. Whatever your family’s goals are, you should discuss how much quicker and easier it would be to accomplish them if you had a little bit of extra help.

5. Talk about the benefits

Cost is often a major factor in a family’s decision to hire a caregiver. However, it’s important to remember that one of the benefits of hiring a mother’s helper is more affordable than hiring a nanny or housekeeper.

You should also outline the benefits to your overall well-being! Explain to your partner that you’ll be happier and less stressed out if you could just get a little bit of help. And don’t forget to call out the specific benefits that your whole family will enjoy, such as the fact that your house will likely be more clean and organized and that there might even be more home-cooked meals on the table.

Mom’s helpers

• Yes, your baby needs a mother. Healthy, cheerful, cheerful, gentle and affectionate, self-confident. A happy mother will give a child much more than a preoccupied and constantly thinking about problems. So it’s not worth living “only for the child.” Live for yourself too. Enjoy every day. Today, tomorrow, always! nine0003

• Of course, the first year you will spend almost all the time with the baby, then you will be able to carve out more free time “for yourself”.

Raising a child is a colossal work. Naturally, you will need helpers. Therefore, there is nothing to be ashamed of hiring a babysitter or asking grandmothers to look after the baby while you relax or do what you love. Enough work for everyone. You certainly won’t be bored.

• Love yourself, remember your worth, develop yourself, do what you like, and then you and your child will enjoy communicating with each other. nine0003

IMPORTANT!

In the first couple of months after childbirth, the mother needs to recover. In addition, breastfeeding is a huge burden on the body, so it would be nice to free a nursing mother from housework.

• You should learn to use the help of others. Postpone communication with childless girlfriends for a few months. It is difficult for them to understand what it is to be a mother. But for sure you will find support and understanding among mothers who have children. They will be able to give you helpful tips on caring for your baby and tell you where to buy baby items. To the question: “How can I help you?” – boldly answer what exactly (for example, buy groceries, clean the apartment, etc.). Many people like to be aware of their usefulness. And now is the time to take advantage of it. nine0003

• For example, a brother or family friend can be asked to buy diapers, baby water and choose a scale, a grandfather will enjoy pushing a stroller in the yard, and your mother or mother-in-law can cook dinner at this time …

Yes, try not to criticize your helpers and be grateful to them.

– Hello, children and dear parents! I am glad to welcome you all to our holiday today. But in order to find out exactly what kind of holiday we will celebrate with you today, you need to guess the riddle:

Who is the most tender in the world?

Who cooks dinner for us?

And who do children love so much?

And who is not more beautiful? (mom)

– Who is it? (children’s answers). That’s right – it’s mom! And what holiday is approaching, who knows? (Mothers Day). nine0003

– On the last Sunday of November, a wonderful holiday is celebrated in Russia – Mother’s Day! On this day, it is customary to congratulate our dear, beloved mothers. And when else do we congratulate our mothers? (children’s answers). That’s right, March 8! It’s International Women’s Day.

– Mom is the closest person. She is always ready to help, support in difficult times. Mom has a big and kind heart. She always worries about us, so let’s make our mothers happy more often and upset less. nine0003

– Dear mothers, our children were preparing for this holiday and now they are ready to congratulate you! Get out guys!

(while the children go out, music plays)

Mom caresses us,

The sun warms.

The sun, like mom,

Only one happens.

I will wipe the glass and frame

Because in the frame is mom.

Wipe the frame clean:

I really love my mom!

We blinded the whole city –

Towers, stairs, palaces.

We will give it to mom.

Mom will say: “Well done!”

Mom’s smile

Brings happiness into the house,

Mom’s smile

Needed everywhere, in everything!

Mom will caress,

Mom will cheer. nine0003

If he scolds,

It will always forgive.

With her I’m not afraid

No villain!

There is no kinder and more beautiful

My mothers.

Dear mother, my dear!

I want to tell you how much I love you!

You are my protector, the most tender friend!

Better not to find anyone around!

nine0002
Congratulations mom on this glorious day!

I’ll pick the best gift for her!

So I want to please with something else,

I will behave diligently well!

-Thanks guys! You are great! (children return to their seats).

-The surprises and congratulations for our mothers do not end there! Guys, do you think it’s easy to be a mom? (children’s answers). Now we will check it! Today we will live a day with you, as your and mothers do, and then we will say whether it is easy to be a mother or not. Ready guys? (children’s answers). Then let’s start! nine0003

– Tell me, what do mothers do in the morning? (they prepare breakfast, collect children for kindergarten or school, go to work). All of your answers are correct, but now let’s see how well you can do it!

The game “Ready to work!”

-Now we need to independently prepare for classes, collect our portfolio. We need two teams of 5 people. The game will go like this: each of the team members in turn runs up to the table, takes an item from it that is needed for classes, returns to his team and puts the item in a briefcase, other participants should do the same, the game ends on a sound signal. The team that has more items in their portfolio and completes the task without errors will be the winner. nine0003

– So, your mothers gathered you for classes, took you to the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren, what do they do next? (children’s answers).

-And I noticed that many mothers, while you are studying, read books, magazines to know a lot and help you in your studies, and some of them embroider, knit and even draw! Now your moms have a unique opportunity to show their artistic abilities!

The game “Draw me, mommy!”

In this game, mothers-participants will have to draw an image of their baby with a marker on an A4 sheet in a few minutes. You can draw any scenery or distinctive features, so long as the child recognizes himself. At the end of drawing portraits, the teacher collects the work and presents them to the audience. The child who believes that he is depicted in the portrait should raise his hand. The winners will be those mothers whose children determine their portrait without prompting. nine0003

– In the meantime, moms are working, we can check how smart our guys are, whether you know as much as moms!

Game “Gift for Mom”

– Now I will read riddles to you, and you will have to guess them. Riddles hide what you can give mom.

(cap)

-All these gifts are good, but the best gift for all moms is your good behavior! Listen to them, take care of your mothers, because there is no one closer and dearer than them.

When your classes are over, moms rush home. Why do you think? (clean house, wash dishes, cook, eat, clean house)

-Our mothers have another profession – the mistress of the house. After all, the whole house rests on mom. Did you know that during the year mothers wash 18,000 knives, forks and spoons, 13,000 plates, 8,000 cups. Therefore, you must definitely help moms!

House Cleaning Game

-Now let’s get up and show all together how to help mom!

How are we going to sweep the floor?

How do you help your mom do the laundry? OK! nine0003

“Now let’s get him out!”

How are we going to pet him?

Let’s show moms how to wash dishes!

– Well done guys, sit down! Now I know for sure that you can help your mothers. You will make wonderful helpers.

Our mothers manage to do everything and clean the house and take care of themselves. Guys, look at your moms, how beautiful they all are! It has long been known that a woman becomes even more beautiful if she is often told complements, i.e. words expressing approval, respect, admiration. We have another game ahead of us! nine0003

The game “My mother is the most . ..” (Compliment)

-To participate in the game I need 7 people (children). In turn, the participants name one of the virtues of the mother. For example, the first player says: “My mother is the best sewer”, the second – “My mother cooks the most delicious breakfasts”, the third – “My mother is the kindest woman in the world”. You have 5 seconds to come up with a compliment. A child who did not have time to characterize his mother in the allotted time leaves the game. Compliments cannot be repeated. The game continues until one player remains. He becomes the winner. nine0003

-Well done boys! Remember all the compliments and say them to your moms more often!

– In the evening, dad comes home from work, how should everyone behave then? (quietly, because dad is tired at work).

-Guys, do you know how to communicate with your mother without words? Now let’s check!

Crocodile game

Three couples, mothers and children, are required to participate. The facilitator gives each participating pair a card with the task of playing the scene from life indicated on the card without using words. nine0003

1. The child tries to beg the mother to drink the medicine.

2. Mom steps on all the puddles in a row, and the child tries to stop her.

3. Mom does not want to get up in the morning for work, the child wakes her up.

-Our participants of the game “Crocodile” need to get ready, we give them a few minutes for this, but for now we will play another very interesting game with you!

– Many mothers, besides raising you, go to work every day! It is very difficult for them to manage to do everything, but they cope with it! How much do you know about your mothers? Are you as attentive to them as they are to you? Now let’s check! nine0003

Interview game

-For this game we will need one mother, she will play the role of a journalist. She will need to approach the children with a microphone and ask them the following questions.

– What is the color of your mother’s eyes?

What does mom like to do the most?

– When is mom’s birthday?

-What is a mother by profession?

What is mom afraid of?

nine0002
What is mom’s favorite color?

– How old is your mother?

What are mom’s favorite flowers?

What is your mother’s favorite dish?

– What does mom dream about?

-Well done boys! You know a lot about your mothers! And we are back to the game “Crocodile”! Now the guys will show us small scenes, and we have to guess what they depict. The couple whose scene is solved the fastest will be the winner (participants show scenes). nine0003

Let’s applaud all our participants! Now we know that each of you can understand your mother even without words!

What do mothers do in the evenings? (preparing dinner, helping to prepare for classes).

All mothers are amazing women. And we would like to know more about what they are interested in, what they love the most!

Ahead of the game “My Mom”!

The teacher reads the statement, if it refers to the mother of the child, then he claps his hands, and if not, then stomps:

-My mom is the most beautiful.

-My mother likes sweets.

– My mom helps me.

-My mother is often sad.

-My mom cooks very tasty food.

-My mother doesn’t like gifts.

-My mother is very smart.

-My mother is the kindest.

-Well done! Now we know a lot about your moms!

nine0002
– Guys, without what not a single holiday can do? (children’s answers). That’s right, no dancing! Now we will dance with you! (the teacher shows movements to the music, and parents and children repeat).

Now we’re definitely ready for the holidays! Poems were read, compliments were made, the mothers danced a dance! Only one thing is missing, to list what mothers do for each of us and for which we should be grateful to them!

Game “Mommy”

nine0002
– I will ask a question, and you answer in chorus “Mommy!”. You just need to answer in unison and loudly!

Who came to me in the morning? – mommy

Who said: “It’s time to get up!” – mommy

Who managed to cook the porridge? – mommy

Pour into a cup of tea? – mommy

Who picked flowers in the garden? – mommy

Who kissed me? – mommy

Who childish loves laughter? – mommy

Who is the best in the world? – mommy!

– See how much your mothers do in a day! And now we return to our main question – is it easy to be a mother? (children’s answers). Being a mom is not easy, you need to do a lot of things, take care of you, dad and not forget about yourself at the same time. Let’s thank them for everything they do for you with applause!

– Tell me, what do your mothers wish you before going to bed? (good night)

nine0002
-Let’s play the game “I wish mom” at the end of our holiday.

Game “I wish mom”

– Now the one who receives the ball will have to say what he wants for his mother. For example, health, smile more often, stay as beautiful, etc.

(After the child tells his mother a wish, he gives her a heart-shaped card made using the origami technique as a gift).

-I would like to end our holiday with a small poem:

If anything happens,

If suddenly trouble,

Mommy will come to the rescue,

Will always help out.

Mom a lot of strength, health

Gives to all of us.

So, really, there is no

in the world

Better than our mothers.
