Peer Review of the Moldovan Research and Innovation System
This Peer Review, launched in November 2015 aimed to provide external advice and operational recommendations to the Moldovan authorities on possible reforms to undertake in the following focus areas: (1) Increasing the efficiency of public R&I funding and the quality of the R&I performing bodies and instruments; (2) Improving the policies for human resources and mobility of researchers; (3) Boosting business innovativeness and science-business links; and, (4) Increasing R&I impact by properly defining the policy instruments. The final report and the recommendations were presented to the Moldovan R&I community on 12 July 2016.

Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility – Peer Review of the Moldovan Research and Innovation system
The report presents the outcome of the Peer Review of the Moldovan R&I system, carried out by the independent panel of PSF experts between November 2015 and July 2016. It explains the rationale supporting each of the key Policy Messages highlighted upfront in the report and discusses the 24 specific recommendations, clustered into thematic areas. Case studies from other countries supplement the narrative by presenting good practice examples that could facilitate the implementation of the recommendations by the Moldovan authorities.

The State University of Moldova was founded on October 1, 1946, the original name was Chisinau State University. nine0016
The creation of the University was an important milestone in the development and strengthening of higher education in the country. This is a classical type institution, whose mission is to provide high quality education.
Initially, five faculties were opened (Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Geology and Soil Science, Biology, Chemistry, History and Philology). In the first year (1946-1947), 320 people were registered at 12 departments, the educational process was carried out by 35 teachers. Very quickly, the Chisinau State University became a recognized leader in the national system of higher education. nine0016
In 1958, a correspondence department was opened at the MoldSU, which is still functioning at some faculties. To facilitate the training of young specialists, for some time (1958-1981), an evening department was also opened.
In the period 1946-1988. Mold.GU was an integral part of the Soviet university system, so that management was carried out directly from Moscow.
Since 1969 the State University has been a member of the International Association of Universities. nine0016
Always receptive to social needs, the University reorganized its structure by creating new departments and faculties: Faculty of Economics (1953-1991, 2002), Faculty of Law (1959), Faculty of Engineering and Technology (1959), Faculty of Foreign Languages (1964), Preparatory Faculty for the Education of Foreign Citizens (1967), School of Journalism (1980), Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology (1994), Faculty of Political Sciences (1995)). such as: Technical University of Moldova (1964), Academy of Economic Sciences (1991) and Academy of Theology (1993).
With the collapse of the Soviet Union, significant changes were made in the field of higher education of the Republic. 1988-1996 for Mold.GU were marked by the improvement of traditional forms of education and the use of new, modern technologies.
