Freedom High School (Orlando, Florida)

Freedom High School is located in Orlando, Florida. It is one of twenty public high schools in Orange County. The school was founded in 2003 to reduce crowds in the surrounding areas. Cypress Creek High School, daytime; like other aid high schools, they are rivals. It’s a rivalry dubbed (in sports) as the South Orange Classic. Freedom’s primary schools are Freedom High School, Hunter’s Creek High School, and West Ridge High School in Oak Ridge. The current director is Mrs Cheryl Neely Mir. It has almost the same campus layout as Olympia High School and Timber Creek High School. Lake Brantley High School, a day school in nearby Seminole County, has similar colors and a nickname.

The school was originally supposed to be named after the deceased Marine, but in honor of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, the district decided to rename it Liberty High School. FHS was classified as an “A” school in 2010–11, 2013–14 and 2014–15.

In addition, students have the chance to receive professional and technical training through the Tech Prep and Dual Enrollment programs at three local technical schools and Valencia College.

Monticello Academy

Monticello Academy aims to nurture future generations of “renaissance students” and challenges the status quo of IB (International Baccalaureate), Cambridge and other magnet programs by providing:

More time for social and athletic opportunities, a rich resume in college, flexible AP course requirements, and opportunities for world travel and cultural immersion

In addition, the Monticello Scholars Academy now offers the opportunity to enroll in the AP Capstone program, which consists of an AP workshop and an AP study. [3]

AVID

Advancement Through an Individual Solution (AVID) is a fourth through twelfth grade system that prepares students for academics and qualifies them for college. Students participating in the program are placed in their school’s most challenging and rigorous grades, with honors and AP, and develop each student’s organizational and study skills. At Freedom High School, students will enroll in college prep and AVID electives. In the AVID classroom, students are taught the skills they need to succeed and are taught in collaborative workgroups with mentors. The elective AVID class teaches Study Skills, Cornell Note System, Time Management, Writing, Reading and Research Skills. Students also learn about colleges and universities (especially application procedures and financial aid) and prepare for college entrance exams such as the SAT or ACT. Students are encouraged to explore the professions through research, curricula, and guest speakers. [4]

Extended Placement

The College Board sponsored Extended Placement program is a series of college-level courses in which you can take exams (through the College Board) for college credit.

Freedom offers many advanced accommodation classes. All AP faculty, class content, and curricula have been approved by the College Board.

Suggested AP grades:

2D design; Drawing, US History, Psychology, World History, Human Geography, US Government, Euro History, Music Theory, C E & M Physics, C Mech Physics, B Physics, AB Calculus, BC Calculus, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Statistics, Chemistry , German, Economics, English language and composition, English literature, Spanish, French, Japanese. [5]

Hospitality Academy

The Travel and Tourism Academy is one of several model programs established by the National Academy Foundation. These academies operate by combining in-class career guidance courses with career-building experience in the local business and community.

It encourages students to complete a hospitality-focused high school curriculum, set career goals, and graduate.

High school students have the opportunity to learn about and prepare for a career in the hospitality industry and interact constructively with their school and business community. [6]

Early Childhood Academy

The Early Childhood Academy is for students who are interested in a career in education or childcare. The academy offers students a rigorous and up-to-date curriculum, experiential learning, and opportunities for state certifications, a professional certificate for young children, and scholarships and college loans. Academy students will work with children on the Freedom Friends Preschool campus, local kindergartens, elementary and middle schools. The program consists of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 480 hours of direct work with children. [7]

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment (DE) includes students enrolled in two separate, academically related institutions. The student enters high school while attending higher level courses at the local community college or university. College level credits also count towards high school credit.

Juniors and retirees with an unweighted GPA of 3. 0 in Orange or Osceola County are eligible to dual enroll at Valencia College or the University of Central Florida to start college while still attending high school. This allows students not only to earn a high school diploma, but also to earn a college degree.

Dual enrollment courses become part of the permanent college discharge, so students must commit to doing the required work or they risk compromising the college’s future plans. [8]

Extra-curricular activities

athletics

The school sponsors the following sports: athletics, bowling, football, flag football, fencing, volleyball (both girls and boys), cross country, lacrosse, football, swimming and diving, wrestling, weightlifting, athletics, water polo, golf, baseball, softball, Special Olympics and tennis. 9 https://www.linkedin.com/in/juan-debiedma-218810b4
