Testimonials

“I’ve been really struggling with how [the school district] has been handling things and whether to send Jack back to school, and my thoughts consistently come back to ‘why do I feel okay sending Nolan back to daycare?’ and it’s really because I trust everyone at the Y. – Nicole S.

“[We] feel there could be no better testament to how amazing Peanut Shell is and how the curriculum and programs really do set the kids up for success once they leave from both a social/emotional standpoint but also academically. Thank you to you both and your staff for all you do for the families at Peanut Shell.” – Beth C.

“You were an answer to my prayers. COVID has forced me to work from home with a rambunctious 3-year-old. Finding your facility and to learn that you were offering childcare services was heaven sent. I was impressed with your COVID safety precautions and policies. I know my child definitely benefited from being around other kids and having the option to place her in a secure, clean, and spacious facility was all I needed to see and hear about. I appreciate your dedicated and kind staff, and I love the bright curriculum/fun schedule you had for my child. It takes a community to raise a child and East Orange YMCA is that for me. Thank you so much!” – LaKesha E.

Through the Angel Scholarship Fund, you can now contribute funds that will be used to provide tuition assistance for students to attend our Catholic schools, for which you may receive a 100% Ohio income tax credit of up to $750 ($1,500 if married filing jointly) against your 2022 state tax liability. In other words, the state of Ohio allows you to “spend” some of the state income taxes you must pay anyway to provide tuition assistance for students seeking an education in our Catholic schools. The Angel Scholarship Fund is a win-win-win for taxpayer donors, scholarship recipients, and our Catholic schools.

STATE REQUIREMENTS FOR IMMUNIZATIONS
Here is a friendly reminder for parents with students entering K & 7th grades. It is a state requirement to have immunizations up to date for school attendance. Or, if your child will be exempt from these required immunizations, we need that document completed as well. We ask that this be completed in the summer and turned into the school for Fall attendance. Feel free to contact the school clinic if you have any questions.

Advice for families to support learning and family togetherness during this time:

Things you can do to support learning.

Reading to your kids counts! It’s a great way to stay connected and keep learning going without feeling like a burden. Try audiobooks from the library or Audible, too.

Playing games with cards, dice or money allows your kids to practice math facts without realizing it.

Puzzles, LEGO, blocks, tangrams, tinker toys, pickup sticks, yo-yos, art supplies —these are nice alternatives to the iPad if you’re looking for them.

And we’ve learned that a few weeks or even a couple of months will not see a big decline in skills. It’s okay to focus on play and family togetherness.

It’s a stressful moment for all of us. It’s also a time of pulling together. Our wish for everyone is safety, love, and support for one another.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Metro Drive KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • KinderCare is a true blessing to my family. I was afraid to put my infant son into daycare at the young age of six weeks, but they reassured me and showed me multiple times he was safe in their care. KinderCare has shown so much love and care for my son, who is now two years of age, that I can’t imagine my or my son’s life without them. The staff at KinderCare on Metro Drive is as much a family to my son as his own. I would recommend KinderCare to anyone with small children looking for excellent care!

    Angie – KinderCare Parent
  • When we were relocating from another state last year, finding a safe, fun, and exciting child care center was our top priority. We toured many in the area but selected Metro Drive KinderCare ultimately for the quality environment and curriculum. The teachers and staff are like a family here…they all know our kids even if they are not their regular classroom teachers. Our kids look forward to “school” every day because of the care, attention, and fun they receive while there. They come home each day excited to talk about their artwork, what they did at circle time, or who they played with outside. KinderCare has made our transition to this new community so much easier. It was one of the best choices we’ve made for our kids yet.

    Amanda – KinderCare Parent

Frequently Asked Questions

What accreditations does KinderCare have?

We are your trusted caregiver. Our centers are state-licensed and regularly inspected to make sure everything meets or exceeds standards, including child-to-teacher ratios and safe facilities. Our centers aren’t just licensed—most are accredited, too! Find out more.

Do you offer part-time schedules at Metro Drive KinderCare?

Everybody’s schedule is different. We’re happy to offer quality, affordable part-time and full-time childcare. Drop-in care may also be available. Reach out to your Center Director to learn more.

How does naptime work at Metro Drive KinderCare?

Our teachers meet every child’s needs during naptime. Our teachers know how to get babies to nap. In fact, they are pros at getting children of any age to nap. Visit our article on “10 Ways We Help Kids Get a Great Daycare Nap” to learn more.

Do you support alternative diets?

We strive to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we provide a vegetarian option at mealtime, take care to not serve common allergens and can adapt menus based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll work with you to figure out a plan.

Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?

We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

  • Review from the Spring 2022 Early Childhood Education Survey

    July 2022

Location: 382 Baltic St. Brooklyn NY 11201 Type of facility: Daycare Review: Like – caring responsive, send pictures, provide meals. Don’t like they move your students to different classes often because they are “ready” but really it is so they can increase class size legally once they hit a certain age. What amenities does the facility have? Has outdoor space, Has after-school options, Provides meals What would you change about the program, if anything? I would like to be able to enter the building. Very strict entry and drop off procedures. Is there anything you would like to add about how the school is handling the pandemic? very strict pandemic protocols. Lots of closures.

  • Review from the Fall 2021 Early Childhood Education Survey

    December 2021

Type of facility: Preschool Review: My child loves it. She is excited to go to school everyday. What amenities does the facility provide? Has after-school options, Provides meals Is there anything you would like to add about how the school handled the pandemic? Very strict about pandemic health and safety. Enforce quarantine, masks, health surveys.

  • Review from the 2020–2021 Daycare, Preschool, Pre-K, and K Survey

    July 2021

Review: I absolutely love our daycare! Our son who is now almost 2 years old started there 9 months ago and he literally loved it from day 1. We love his teachers. He has always been excited to go to school in the mornings. It’s bilingual English and Mandarin. They paint, sing songs, and play outside (they have an outdoor playground on the roof for young kids and supervise older kids at the playground across the street). He’s also learned so much. He knows his ABCs, can count, shares food and toys, has tons of words, and sings songs in both English and Mandarin. They provide meals (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner). We get daily reports on how much he eats each meal and how well he naps. There’s a set nap time for the whole class. Most days we get pictures of the kids, but not always. The director is super on top of things. She’s very easy to get ahold of by email or phone. COVID protocols were very strict, which was our biggest worry when we started daycare. Each class has to check-in and check-out at specific times to avoid unnecessary mixing of kids in hallways and outside. Hours are roughly M-F 8am-5pm. Facility amenities: Has outdoor space, Provides meals

  • Flexible Daycare Options in Cobble Hill?

    April 2021

My daughter was at Metro Kids (AKA Preschool of America) last year and loved it. I think they have part-time options.

  • Review from the 2017/2018 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

    April 2018

My kids both love the teachers and we’ve been through all the ages (Less than 1, 1, 2, 3 years old). Loving teachers who have taught my kids developmental skills and have provided a fun learning environment. About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals What would you change? Nothing. We’re incredibly happy there.

  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

    July 2017

Type: Daycare About the facility: Has outdoor space, Has afterschool options, Provides meals Review: We’ve had a great experience here and it’s the only affordable option. Our son went there from 13 months to now (just under 3 years old) and our 3 month old starts next month. Our son has only had super loving teachers and the bonus is that the kids learn Mandarin with one Mandarin speaking teacher per classroom. I’ve never felt worried that he wasn’t cared for so although it was still super traumatic sending him off to daycare, the 2nd time round gif our daughter I feel totally confident that she’ll be cared for my care providers who know what they’re doing. What would you change about the program, if anything, and why? Maybe smaller class sizes?

  • Review from the 2016/2017 PSP Daycare, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten Survey

  • Review submitted via the PSP Daycare/Preschool 2016 Survey

    July 2016

Program: 2-Pre K Age: 1-2 years4-5 years Review: Both my children attend Pre School of America in Cobble Hill. My eldest is 5 now and started there when she was a little over 2. My youngest went at 6 months and is now nearly 2. Both my children have been very happy here. It is run like a school with different classes and kids progress through these classes as they get older. Its a dual language school so the kids have 1 American teacher and 1 Chinese teacher. The majority of the learning is play based but within a structured / school day type of routine, which i have loved. Both my kids have thrived with this approach. There is always new artwork and photos on the walls of the hallways & classrooms. There is a lot of communication with the teachers and they are always happy to accommodate your wishes whether its food related/ sleep related etc etc… Each time my eldest has transitioned to a new class the school has made a conscious effort to give her time each day leading up to the transition in the new classroom so she gets used to the new teacher/ kids. Often she new lots of the kids anyway as they integrate classes for many of the classes such as music, art, gym. I received constant feedback about how my girls are doing in class and get a daily report which gives me info about what they have read/ projects they have been doing and any stories that they know i will appreciate from the day. I wouldn’t say they are overly strict but they are certainly firm and will talk to the child if they have been naughty or mean and will always make them say sorry immediately – even my 1.5 year old knows how to do this. The school offers enrichment classes every semester which are extra but they include cooking, ballet, art, piano, Spanish, Chinese, science. Overall we have been extremely happy with POA. It has prepared our 5 year old for the transition to Kindergarten and whilst she will get a shock in terms of the sheer size of her new school, POA has given her a lot of confidence both socially and also educationally. PSP note, this member previously reviewed this facility.

  • Review submitted via the 2014-2015 daycare/preschool survey

    August 2015

Length of time: Full-time Child’s Age: 3-4 years Type of facility: Privately run daycare/preschool with multiple classes and teachersThere is little/no parental involvement with the administration or running of the facility. REVIEW: Words can not describe the love the teachers feel for my child. This school is so incredibly well run. If my child has a minor injury I hear about it immediately. Communiation is excellent. He has learned so much and began to read shortly before he turned 4. The school is consistent, dependable, and has been my life line as a single mother. They serve three meals a day prepared from scratch which are included with tuition. And it’s bilingual Mandarin. My kid has learned Chinese! Would you recommend? Highly recommend Would you send your child again? Absolutely

  • Review from 2013 Daycare/Preschool PSP Survey

    May 2014

Review date June 2013 (for 2012-2013 year) Program: older 2s-young threes Length of time: Full time Child’s age: 3-4 years Review: POA-Cobble Hill, which opened last June, has been fantastic for my daughter. We have been there since October 2012. The director is involved and very responsive to the needs of families. Any issues are dealt with promptly. The tuition is far less than other preschools in the area and includes healthy meals. I receive daily reports about what my daughter has done during the day. There has been some staff turnover, but that’s to be expected at a new program. Do you recommend? (Hi/Rec/DoNot) Highly recommend <<< PSP Note: this reviewer has recommended Preschool of America in the past >>>
