Family Style Eating

Here at From Time 2 Time, we launched a program called Family Style Eating, a mealtime set up to mimic dining at home.

Children and teachers sit together at one table, sharing the same menu and talking in an informal way.  

Our kids learned how to pass dinner bowls, use tongs and spoons for food selection, practice saying, “Please” and “Thank you” and cleaning up.

Designing a dining room in kindergarten: using a flight of fancy

How to decorate the dining room and kitchen in kindergarten?

Sunflower Craft

Needed:

• Sheet of Cardboard;
• Pencil or marker;
• Yellow and green colored paper;
• PVA glue;
• Scissors;
• Buckwheat.

Procedure:

1. First, a sunflower shape is cut out of yellow paper. In the central part, you need to draw a circle in such a way that it most realistically matches the real circle of a real sunflower where seeds grow.
2. Next, take green paper, then cut out the stem and petals from it;
3. The next step is to choose the basis for crafts. For these purposes, an ordinary sheet of cardboard of any color is ideal.
4. In the center, a stem is glued onto it, as well as leaves. Then the head of a sunflower is glued to the stem, the glue is applied in the center. It is worth noting that the petals do not need to be re-glued.
5. We apply PVA glue, which we prepared in advance, to the central part of the circle, after which we begin to gradually fill the circle with buckwheat (any other cereal can serve as an alternative to buckwheat, at your discretion). The choice of buckwheat as a filling material for a sunflower circle is explained by the greatest similarity with real sunflower seeds.
6. At the end, leave the product for up to half an hour until completely dry. After that, you need to turn the craft down so that the excess cereal crumbles.

Thus, we get an excellent design element for the dining room and kitchen of the kindergarten, and at the same time made by hand with the use of fantasy.
