  • Little Travelers Day Care and Learning Center of Mt. Airy, Inc.,
established in 1994, holds a dual license issued by the Maryland
State Department of Education. A child’s most important part of his
life is during his formative years. This is the time when
developmental needs, if nurtured properly, will allow the child a
good head start as he continues to grown and learn. We at Little
Travelers Day Care and Learning Center of Mt. Airy, Inc. feel that
a strong triangular relationship among the parents, staff and
child, with the child at the apex, will work toward providing a
positive, developmental, appropriate and loving environment for
    your child.

▪ Quest! Quest! Quest! ▪

Pupils of Kindergarten No. 58 never get bored. The summer week “In the world of kindness” ended with an exciting quest journey. Little travelers, together with their teachers, went in search of the “Magic Tree of Kindness”: they moved along the arrows, and a magic ball showed the way. On the way they met the fabulous inhabitants of the forest. The first one you meet is Goblin. He was eager to find out what kind of berries grow in the swamp, and the guys helped him with this. Kikimora really wanted to get a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a reminder, and here the children came to the rescue. The nightingale the robber arranged real competitions with a test of strength, endurance and, of course, mutual assistance. The waterman really wanted to dance and arranged an incendiary disco: neither adults nor children could resist on the spot. And the beautiful Vasilisa the Beautiful organized a parade of hats, in which everyone came to the holiday. The hats were different “Asterisk”, “Day and Night”, “Dream”, “Colorful Clearing”, each with its own design and name. And here it is, our goal – “Magic Tree”! There is no limit to amazement and delight: the tree is decorated with ribbons, flowers and sweet gifts. How did you not notice before? After all, there is a Tree of Kindness on the site. And most importantly, they realized that being kind, helping, caring is good!!! Have a great time! I would like to thank the music director Ivanova Elena Alekseevna for the excellent organization of the event, as well as all the artists, junior kindergarten teachers who prepared their costumes and played the roles artistically and very professionally.

▪ Young environmentalists hurry to the rescue! ▪

There are many effective methods and techniques for environmental education of preschoolers, but the most fun, of course, is the game. As part of the summer health campaign, an exciting quest was organized with the pupils of kindergarten No. 135 – the game “Young environmentalists hurry to the rescue!”. On one of the summer days, an alarmed Crow flew into the kindergarten and told the participants of the game about the mysterious disappearance of her little crows from the nest. In order to find them and bring them home, it was necessary to pass a test that Crow alone could not cope with, so she decided to turn to young environmentalists from our kindergarten. The teams, having received the Ecological Quest Map indicating the Stations, set off on their way, where the Forester, the Water Fairy, the Gardener and the Zoologist were waiting for them. Young ecologists had to complete a number of tasks and achieve the result – to find crows, that is, to collect all the pieces of the puzzle with their image! The children solved environmental problems, solved riddles and played interesting environmental games. A fascinating quest – the journey ended with the compilation of puzzles with the image of crows. Test passed! The crows returned home, and the happy Crow thanked the teams and awarded all the participants. The game allowed each child to be in the thick of environmental events and realize that the success of the team depends on him, his knowledge and actions!

▪ We always remember about safety! ▪

Summer is not the time to forget about safety, especially outdoors. In kindergarten No. 135, the teachers decided to remind the kids about the main rules for a safe summer. How to make it exciting and fun? The quest will help – the game! The weather that day turned out to be cloudy, so the boys and girls decided to help the Sun and collect the lost rays. To get a ray of sunshine, the guys had to complete tasks at the stations “Home”, “At the River”, “Forest Clearing”, “Paws and Tails”. Dunno volunteered to help them with this, and, traveling through the stations with preschool children, he learned many new and very important rules for safe behavior in the summer: how not to get sunstroke, how to behave at home and in the yard, how to avoid trouble in the forest and by the river. All the lost rays were found and returned to the Sun! All age groups of the kindergarten took part in the fun quest-game. Such activities – adventures for preschoolers – are learning in the form of a game, the development of spatial thinking, logic, the practice of teamwork, mutual assistance and helping friends. Moreover, it is interesting, fun and exciting!

▪ Flower Ball in Kindergarten No. 3. ▪

▪ Kindergarten No. 3 hosted a party loved by both children and adults! This is a FLOWER FEST. It passed, according to tradition, fun and provocatively! To make the holiday bright and memorable, teachers, pupils, and parents prepared for it in advance. Boys and girls came dressed up in costumes of flowers: cornflower, poppy, bluebell, rose, forget-me-not. Each flower told the children about itself. Children read poems, all defiled together, showing the beauty of their outfits, which they prepared with their parents. Each costume impressed everyone with its creativity and individuality. At the end of the holiday, an experiment was held, “Catch your own rainbow”, in which each child was able to participate in the experiment and hold OWN rainbow in their hands. All those present received a charge of energy and positive emotions. If each of us takes care of this world, then nature and man will live in harmony for many millennia.

▪ Summer and play. ▪

Summer is a happy and merry time of rest, entertainment, exciting travels. That is why the teachers of kindergarten No. 58 chose one of the modern forms of working with children in the summer – a quest game – to work with children. During the summer months, educators organized and conducted various quests with pupils of each age group: “Treasures of Aibolit”, “Sea Treasure”, “Traveling with a balloon in search of adventure”, “Wherever you go, you will find”. All quests were aimed at developing the cognitive and creative abilities of kids. It is very interesting, fun, funny when the kids, in order to overcome many different obstacles, choose the path they will follow, looking for “treasures”, show their ability to navigate in space, to help a friend if he is in a difficult situation. And how great it is to be a treasure hunter! And then to understand that what they found (the treasure) is very necessary, important and useful for everything: for playing, for communication, for interest, in order to feel a little more mature. Quest game is an excellent charge of vivacity and a sea of positive emotions for both children and adults!!!!

▪ Ecological space “Phyto-garden” ▪

Preschool children show great interest in nature. There is not a single object or phenomenon to which they would remain indifferent. Constant monitoring is impossible without the organization of a developing natural environment in the preschool educational institution, which acts as a factor in the environmental education of preschoolers. So in kindergarten No. 41, the Phyto-Ogorod ecological space was organized, where children get acquainted with the variety of medicinal plants, their characteristic features, and healing properties. Children develop cognitive interest – they willingly participate in observations, make sketches, ask questions. Aesthetic feelings develop, the ability to notice and appreciate the beauty of the shape and color of leaves and flowers. Watching how a plant grows from a seed, learning how it can help with its healing properties, they learn to cherish and love nature, to see its beauty and originality, to understand the significance of medicinal plants for humans.

▪ Literary living room “alone with nature” ▪

To develop the performing skills of preschoolers, to educate love for nature – these are the tasks that were solved as a result Poetry Day “Alone with nature”. At the celebration in kindergarten No. 41 there was also the old Lesovichok, who not only listened to poetry, but also played with the children, asked difficult riddles and tasks that the children coped with with pleasure.
