Playing puzzles in kindergarten is a stepping stone to successful schooling. | Consultation (preparatory group) on the topic:

Playing puzzles in kindergarten is a stepping stone to successful schooling.

There is a huge variety of puzzles of various types:

oral, printed, planar, three-dimensional, computer, with objects, etc.

My practice has shown that this kind of games is not very popular among the preschool community, and they are not often seen in kindergartens. But these are “smart toys” that make you think, experiment, fantasize, develop all the necessary skills for the future education of the child at school. Repeatedly, when interacting with parents and educators, I was convinced that with the help of properly structured work, the interest and significance of such games for the development of children in adults increases. In my opinion, the principles of visibility and accessibility, as well as reinforcement of success in children, are fully satisfied in this game.

In my work I use puzzle games, the essence of which is to construct various object silhouettes on a plane. Getting into the hands, the puzzle causes a lot of positive emotions: interest, sincere surprise, excitement, smile, desire to see the result of their actions. My task is for the child to begin to form a positive attitude towards the results of his activity already at preschool age, so that he feels joy for his correctly completed task.

The success of mastering puzzle games by preschool children depends on properly constructed psychological and pedagogical support, which should be aimed at maintaining and further developing children’s interest in games of this kind, at activating mental activity, the gradual development of children’s independence, initiative, creativity, teaching children to cooperate and relevant practical skills.

The variety and varying degrees of complexity of the puzzles allows you to take into account the age characteristics of children, their inclinations, abilities and level of training. One of the most important conditions in the selection of puzzle games is to take into account the availability of their solution. Any work can be brought to an end only if it is within the power of the one who performs it. Educational puzzle games require special care in this regard. After all, often, in one age group, you can encounter many individual characteristics and what turns out to be

for one child a simple task to complete on their own, for another it is possible to solve it only with the help of an adult. In the younger group, I suggest starting to get acquainted with puzzles with the help of elementary puzzles developed by B.P. Nikitin “Assemble a square” 1-2-3 difficulty levels. For example, in the younger group, aged 3-4 years, children assemble the Traffic Light puzzle from 5 elements, from 4-5 years old from 8 elements, from 5 years old from 12, and at 6 years old from 16 elements. We specifically offer children the same puzzle, but we complicate the task of completing it. You can often hear: “I know how to assemble it!”, The child sees a familiar silhouette and immediately decides for himself that he can do it, because, for example, he collected this “Turtle” before. In practice, it can be seen that the child overcomes difficulties more easily when assembling a familiar silhouette than a new one. He already has the skill of successfully completing earlier when putting together a simpler puzzle, where there were fewer elements, and the silhouette remains the same. To reinforce interest and increase the information field, we have developed thematic sets, for example, for Cosmonautics Day, transport, numbers, letters, animals, traffic rules (traffic rules).

Each puzzle contains an instruction, a diagram-drawing, of how to assemble this or that figure. As the children grow older, the tasks become more complicated, starting with collecting according to a drawing model and ending with collecting according to silhouettes and inventing their own from the proposed details. Such games play a very important role in preparing preschool children for school. They allow you to acquaint the child with different ways of transmitting information, since the tasks in them are given in various forms using a drawing, drawing, diagram, instructions. In older groups with children, we study the principle of the puzzle, how many small things can be made from one whole. Children like to make their own puzzles and put together many small pieces into one big one. Plane puzzles provide great opportunities for manipulating details and thus contribute to the development of fine motor skills, which is necessary to prepare the hand for writing, and is also an important condition for the mental development of the child. In puzzle games, the ability to think with concentration, the ability for prolonged mental stress, interest in intellectual activity, cognitive interest and other qualities of the future student develop. In addition, they help to form in children such vital qualities as resourcefulness, independence, speed, dexterity, the habit of labor effort, and an active position. This game involves various psychological qualities, emotions of the child, which contribute to the development, acquisition of the necessary self-confidence and the ability to cooperate if the task is performed in a group. All these qualities are necessary for the successful mastery of academic disciplines at school. Thus, by playing puzzles, we help fulfill the main request of parents for preschool education – high-quality preparation for schooling of the child.

In my practice, to popularize these games, I use the following forms:

– training workshops for educators;

– game sessions in groups together with tutors;

– thematic lessons in groups;

-individual and subgroup interaction with children;

– interactive games with parents and children.

It’s funny to look at the joyful faces of the children when they are faster than their parents assembling a puzzle or how the family “works” on the task. Playing puzzles in kindergarten is the first step to success.

Jigsaw puzzles are an important learning tool that helps a child’s development:
👍 eye-hand coordination.
Children use trial and error to solve the puzzle and it requires a lot of concentration and proper eye-hand coordination. The child will try to substitute one or more pieces of the puzzle in an attempt to solve the puzzle.
👍Problem Solving Skill
Puzzles consist of pieces that must be connected correctly. This poses a clear problem for the child, which must be carefully addressed. Unlike other toys, puzzles only have one solution and so the child keeps trying until they succeed.
👍 Cognitive Skills
Puzzles help develop thinking skills and, depending on the subject the puzzles are based on, they will learn different topics such as vocabulary, colors, alphabet, numbers, shapes, vehicles, animals and more.
👍 ability to sort and classify
Even before solving a puzzle, many children sort the pieces by color, shade, or parts of the picture (middle or edge).
👍 Vocabulary Skill
One of the most significant benefits of offering puzzles to children is the development of vocabulary skills that go unnoticed.
