My family came from another Day Care that we were unhappy with. Everything was fine at first and they really catered to what we wanted for our daughter. We were very happy with the toddler room on 9th street until recently. There have been numerous incidents of my daughter being bitten by 2 other children. The first time the center handled it very well, moving the other child into another room without hesitation. We really didn’t even have to ask how it was being handled.
With the 2nd child, and the most recent bites, they didn’t do anything; only requesting to meet with us. The solutions they finally offered included removing my child to another building and changing her situation which was not suitable for her needs. Any other solution they offered felt like a punishment to us, or something we would have to wait on when an immediate solution was obviously necessary since this was a frequent occurance. My daughter did nothing to provoke these bites. It is a shame the biter remains an…

Of course we pulled her as we were worried for her well being. The second to last bite broke the skin and was not treated with first aid at all. It was left uncovered for the entire day. We returned after a 4 day weekend and the same toddler had bitten her again.
While we understand toddlers bite, these bites have left dark bruises each time, and have broken the skin. They have also been by the same two children on several occassions. It is without question that an immediate solution should have been offered. Especially considering these toddlers have bitten and even scratched both children and workers in the day care, and on numerous occassions!
I am very saddened by this experience and am struggling with looking for another day care. I hope both the families of the biters and the center seek out professional help instead of just “googling what to do”.”

Roz, a city girl abandoned by her fiancé, takes a modest position in a kindergarten in a poor area of Paris after her father’s death. She scolds, washes, dresses the children and soon becomes their friend. She is still a little clumsy and knocks over a bowl of water right on the trousers of the elementary school inspector, Dr. Libois, who already has a grudge against her, since she has taken the place of his protégé. The daughter of a prostitute, Marie Coeuré, becomes especially attached to Roz and gets jealous when she kisses other children. Marie’s mother runs away with her lover, and Roz takes the girl to her. One day, the head of the school district appears in the kindergarten – at this time, Marie talks to the children about the rabbit, after which they resolutely refuse to eat it. ? A very good adaptation of the excellent novel by Leon Frappier. The film is faithful to the original book and consists of countless details, built in a lively and energetic rhythm, which in itself frees the plot from any “black” sentimentality; its traces are visible only in the manner of Madeleine Renaud’s acting – not the strongest side of the film. The variety of details and characters also alienated the film from theatricality, forcing the authors to resort to short cuts: both of them are at odds with the usual and ossified features of most films of the 1st years of sound cinema. Some stylization in the plasticity of the actors also speaks of the desire to overcome too prosaic realism. The intonation series captures with its diversity: impudence is followed by pathos, then comedy. As for insolence, let us recall the dialogue between the inspector and the teacher. “As! Are you giving a child a cross? This is contrary to all the principles of modern pedagogy.” “Yes, monsieur. But the kids love it so much.” – “They need to learn to work not for a reward …” At this moment, the camera zooms in on the inspector’s jacket, decorated with the cross of the Legion of Honor. Kindergarten is also interesting because it links two periods in the history of French cinema: populism and poetic realism. As Raymond Chirat writes (Le cin?ma fran?ais des ann?es 30, Hatier, 1983), “populism gets rid of holiday ribbons and tinsel, looks with emotion at the hardships of the heroes of Kindergarten and embarks on a path that will gradually lead it to poetic realism, to social fantasy. ”

N.B. A rather successful remake of the same name by Henri Diaman-Berge (1949): this is perhaps the director’s best film in the sound period of his career. Blanchette Brunoy replaces Madeleine Renault. In the era of silent films, the 1st version was also filmed, directed by Gaston Rudes (1925) with France Delia as Rose.
