Academy 1C-Bitrix, a brief review of the courses. / likes / Klondike studio blog!

I will not go into technical details and analyze the tasks that were performed during the course, instead I will describe the general process, my personal impressions and try to answer the questions – “who are these courses for”, – “what you need to know to successfully complete the course ”, — “what do the courses give”.
And so, over the past two months, I took both of the courses available at that time: “No. 1 – Design Integration and Platform Customization” and “No. 2 – Core Technologies and Expansion of Typical System Capabilities”. There are plans to take a swing at the third “No. 3 – Advanced Technologies and Performance”. It is currently in beta testing and I hope it will be released soon.

“No. 1 — Design integration and platform customization”

Before completing this course, I already got to know CMS 1 °C-Bitrix and its API quite well. I already had several websites and many hours of support for ongoing projects, so I spent very little time on assignments and received a certificate long before the rest of my classmates. Nevertheless, even here I picked up important information for myself, for example, I finally “believed” in the “lang” folders.
Unfortunately, there was a fly in the ointment, apparently it was one of the first courses after fragmentation. Previously, there was one big course for developers, which included tasks on integrating solutions and customizing them, and not long before our group was recruited, they were divided into two.
So, apparently, they were preparing for the new first year in a hurry, and at the very beginning of the training there were big mistakes. For the first half of the day, the training section could not be used due to an error in the menu =) an empty array () was displayed instead. I also had to wait quite a long time for access to the site, and after a couple of days my training site was completely deleted!!! =). The learning sites themselves were extremely slow, and ftp was slow…
But one way or another, I successfully completed the course and received the actual certificate and a coupon of 1000 rubles. at a discount for further education.

Before taking this course, I had already become fairly familiar with CMS 1 °C-Bitrix and its API. “No. 2 — Basic technologies and expansion of typical system capabilities”

Unlike the first course, everything here was much more interesting and more complicated. Before that, of course, I had to write my own components, but I wasn’t familiar with complex components, I also didn’t have to deal with writing wizards and widgets, in a word, I couldn’t pass tasks with a swoop.
The second course took me about two to three times more time than the first, here I started using the forum to solve some problems, for the most part these were clarifications of the task, but there were also plugs that could be solved either on the forum or in a discussion with the inspector teacher.
I handed in almost all the assignments on time, only a couple were overdue, but this was also facilitated by the delivery schedule, it somewhat did not compete with the amount of work that needed to be done to solve them. It was not possible to pass all assignments ahead of schedule and receive a certificate, I graduated the day before the end of the course, which is also not the worst option, but does not compare with the success of the first course =).
In general, I liked the second course much more than the first, here the tasks were much more difficult and interesting, the training ground worked much faster and no one deleted my site =).
Traditionally, I received a paper certificate and a coupon, which I hope to use in my third year.

The lyrics are over, now a little about how the three academic weeks go.

At the very beginning, a letter from the academy is sent to the mail, which briefly outlines the training regulations, a list of webinars and a link to the course itself. (fig. 1)

By clicking on the link, you get to a page with a list of lessons in the left column and more detailed regulations in the right. (fig. 2)

Each lesson consists of videos that cover the topic, tasks to complete, as well as training files. Under the video lessons, you can see a forum topic attached to a specific lesson. (Fig. 3)

There is also a global forum for the entire course, it contains topics for each lesson, as well as threads on webinars and organizational issues. (Fig. 4)

It’s nice that there is always someone on the forum and you can practically in real time not only learn some information from teachers, but also exchange experience with other students. The most memorable person on the training forum is Roman Zakarian, I remember him from the first year, when he helped resolve the issue with the remote training site. Roman responds extremely quickly to all forum messages, whether it is an organizational or technical issue related to the completion of a particular task. (Fig. 5)

The whole educational process comes down to watching lessons, completing tasks and communicating on the forum, and once a week there is a webinar where the most common mistakes are sorted out, and new topics are explained.
As I said earlier, all assignments have a certain deadline. In fact, it’s better to turn in assignments the day before the deadline, because in 70% of cases they don’t pass the test the first time, so if you turn in the assignment the day before the deadline, you get a day to correct it.
At first it seems that there is a lot of time, and there are only ten tasks, but this feeling is deceptive, at the last webinar, and this is the penultimate day before the deadline for submitting all tasks, it turned out that 25% of the course participants did not pass even half of the tasks! Interestingly, there was no middle stratum, i. e. 25% did not pass even half, and the remaining 70–75% passed the last assignment.
The conditions for obtaining a certificate are quite simple, you need to turn in all the tasks on time. Anyone who hasn’t done this doesn’t go to visit their grandmother. But here you either need to be an oak, lazy, or have absolutely no time to complete the course, but this is more of a force majeure.

Who is the course for?

  • The first course is suitable for people who want to start working with CMS 1 °C-Bitrix, the course is quite simple and will tell you about installing the system, setting up and integrating the layout, and this is quite enough to create a simple site.
  • Required skills for successful completion of the first course “Administrator Basic” certificate , basic knowledge HTML , CSS , PHP , as well as the ability to work with a remote server using ftp / sftp .
  • The second course is designed for people who already lack the standard features of the system and basic components, and this is a fairly common occurrence when working with sites whose level is at least a centimeter above the baseboard. The course reveals the possibilities of VALID! Customization of basic components, and also teaches RIGHT! Write your own.
  • Necessary skills for successful completion of the second course Basic Administrator certificate , basic knowledge HTML , CSS , PHP , ability to work with a remote server using ftp / 900 practical programming skills are also required , here no one will teach you how to collect and parse data arrays and use control structures, it is assumed that you should already be able to do this. Also, to the requirements, I would add a general awareness of the internal structure of the system, folder architecture, and other things that are taught in the first year and written in the documentation that “in a good way” should be read when receiving the “Basic Administrator” certificate.
  • Conclusion.

1°C-Bitrix Academy is a great start for learning the most popular and in-demand commercial CMS in the Russian Federation. In the courses, the listener receives information that is extremely important for further development. He is taught how to make his product work stably, meet quality standards and be able to be freely updated with a single button! The teaching staff is extremely friendly and professional, they can answer all your questions and solve any problem that has arisen, after training, you can also download recordings of webinars and use them in the future.

1C-Bitrix Academy, a brief review of the courses.
