Half Day Kindergarten Program – Harrisburg Area Ymca

Our Half Day Kindergarten programs are designed to provide stimulating and enriching programs for kindergarten students attending local public schools. The YMCA will transport children to or from their public school to our program locations. Our curriculum enhances recreational and social skills through arts & crafts, learning centers, music, games, physical education, special events, and more!

Partial-day kindergarten programs pose a practical problem: what if neither of the parents is available to care for their children during the time they are out of school? The answer is the YMCA’s Half Day Kindergarten program. Provided across the Harrisburg area, this program makes every hour outside of school full of age-appropriate activity. We always aim to build on the school day while offering your favorite YMCA programs. The ultimate mix of learning and play!

If your family needs a little extra assistance during the school year, the YMCA is here to help. With themed weeks and educational activities, our teachers are excited to help your child learn and grow. This program fills up very quickly, so make sure that you contact us as soon as you know your child will be attending kindergarten in a qualifying school district. If your child requires full-day care or has moved on to grade school, you can learn more about our YMCA Child Development Centers and School Age Child Care programs.

We can’t wait to see you at the YMCA!

About the Preschool Program

We have two preschool locations CDC House, located in lower Burns Park, and CDC Forest, on the southwest side of Ann Arbor. Our preschools are for children 2 ½ through 5 years. Our preschool used play-based learning, mixed aged settings and choice based programming. Both  school locations use the Highscope approach and value an environment where children can explore and expand their developmental knowledge by directing their own play. We strive to create a supportive community where children’s own growth and strengths can be expanded and provide them with the skills and independence to succeed as they grow as individuals.

Community Day Care’s preschool curriculum plan is based on the belief that children learn best through active play and exploration in a stimulating environment. Children are given many opportunities to engage in free-choice activities that encourage developmental growth in the following areas: social/emotional, cognitive, language and dramatic play, gross and fine motor skills, creative art and music.

Preschool Enrollment

Registration for our preschool programs is all completed online. Please call first (734) 761-7101, to make sure there is space for your child to attend! We love to give tours and meet with potential families to make sure our center is a good match for your family.

Kindergarten Programming

Lessons are planned based on children’s interests, inquiries, and observations and are hands-on and experiential in nature. We spend ample time outdoors exploring the beautiful hiking trails, pond, outdoor classrooms, and play areas on campus. Long-term art, science, gardening, and STEM projects are an integral part of our model. With small ratios (max of 10 children), individualized and small group instruction is woven into our daily schedule.

FAQ

Scholarship Information

If you think you may qualify for financial assistance to help with the cost of preschool or kindergarten, we encourage you to apply or contact us for more information and to talk about your options.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Scholarship award amounts will depend upon each applicant’s childcare schedule and fees. Scholarships are designed to pay a portion of the total childcare cost for each child. The parent(s) is expected to pay the remaining portion. A payment must be received prior to awarding the scholarship. Scholarships are paid out every three months to ensure all families have equal opportunity to apply. A reduction of childcare hours will reflect a change in the scholarship awarded. If a family is three (3) months in arrears, attendance will be discontinued until the past due payment is made.

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify, applicants must be employed and/or enrolled in school or a job training program (includes local community colleges, technical programs, high school completion, etc.). Undergraduate students with a proven history of low-income attending four-year academic institutions may be eligible. Graduate students are not eligible. In order to qualify, we request that applicants also contact Child Care Network (CCN) about financial assistance as well as the local Department of Human Services (DHS) to determine eligibility for their Child Daycare Program .

SCHOLARSHIP & SLIDING SCALE APPLICATION

LIMITED SPACES

Fees for families with lower incomes are LIMITED and available on a first come first serve basis determined by date of receipt of documentation as well as the needs of the family. The Scholarship Committee reviews every case and determines eligibility.

Mosgosstroynadzor has given permission for the construction of a three-storey building

A kindergarten for 200 children will appear for residents of the village of Maryino in the settlement of Filimonkovskoye. The building permit was issued by Mosgosstroynadzor.

According to the source, several new residential microdistricts will appear in the Filimonkovsky settlement, so the existing social infrastructure will be supplemented with new facilities, including educational institutions.

The three-storey building of 3,000 square meters is designed for eight children’s groups with a medical unit, psychologist’s and speech therapist’s offices, as well as an office for studying foreign languages.

In the hall for music classes, children will have morning performances, and in the gym there will be physical education classes. The territory around the kindergarten will be landscaped, on which a complex with sports equipment, trash cans, benches and lanterns will appear. Trees, shrubs will be planted nearby, lawns with flower beds will be laid out.

Within the framework of the development of social infrastructure, 69 educational facilities and seven healthcare facilities will be built in the TiNAO within the next three years. And by 2035, about 320 new kindergartens will be commissioned in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsk administrative districts.
