Employer Tuition Assistance Programs | Bright Horizons

To attract the best talent in today’s competitive labor market, employers need to think outside the box. Employees seeking jobs these days compare offers based on added advantages that come with the job. One way to make them pick your company over others is the provision of perks like Daycare Benefit for Employees.

Daycare Benefit for Employees is one of the very many onsite child care benefits that employees benefit from their employers today. Many big businesses today are already incorporating company-sponsored child care into their list of employee benefits.

Small businesses can also follow suit as these benefits encourage employees, lessen their financial burden, and makes them more loyal to the company. Beyond the obvious financial gains, offering Daycare Benefit for Employees can help companies bridge the gender pay gap that continues to widen in many companies.

While it is important to have a working Daycare Benefit for Employees in your company, creating one can be complicated. You have to plan adequately and consider several factors so the plan does not fail. That is why Bright Horizons is here for you. We will help you handle all the financial planning and management needed to get you a company-sponsored child care program that works for you and your employees. With 30 years of experience in this field, Bright Horizons offers one of the best daycare benefit management system and setup.

Importance of Daycare Benefit for Employees

The average family in the US today spends a huge chunk of their yearly income on Child care. Surprisingly, it costs more to have children in full-time center-based child care than to have them in college. In 2011, a report showed that families that were of average economic earning spend up to 10% of their income on child care for children less than 15 years. Sadly, with low-income families that earn below $15000 annually, the percentage could be as high as 40%. More so, the price of child care has continued to increase by over 45% in the last 25 years. For many families, especially the low-income earners, this reduces the family’s ability to own a house.

By offering employee child care programs like Daycare Benefit for Employees, employers can show that they care about their employees. More so, it helps reduce the incidence of absenteeism at work as child care is one of the reason for major absenteeism for employees.

Studies also show that Daycare Benefit for Employees bridges the wide gender pay gap that has been an issue for years.

Overall, it makes employees happy and helps them concentrate better at work. When this happens, you can conveniently raise their productivity and get a better turnover.

How the lack of Daycare Benefit for Employees solutions affects employees

Providing a working Daycare Benefit for Employees is not an easy task. It will cost you some money but then, that is nothing compared with the cost it saves your business.

With a good Daycare Benefit for Employees in your workplace, you get to reduce absenteeism to a large extent amongst working parents in your firm. Working parents do not have to storm out of work anymore to attend to emergencies that have to do with their children because they are in safe hands.

To err is human. However, it is more common when people are not fully concentrating on their work. For working parents, concentrating can be difficult if their children are not in safe care. When you however provide them with company sponsored child care, they can concentrate better, reduce errors and contribute better to company goals.

6 Sibling Discounts That Can Save You Big

Wise Bread Picks

As a father of three, I can tell you that raising children is one of the toughest, but most rewarding things you’ll ever do. But let’s be completely honest — raising a child is expensive. And raising more than one child is really expensive. Raising three or more? Forget about it.

But if you do have more than one child, you may have some financial relief available in the form of sibling discounts. Here are six to be aware of.

1. Orthodontist Discount

My son just recently had braces put on his teeth, and the sticker price of over $5,000 was a tough pill to swallow, especially since my younger daughter is also going to need braces in a couple of years. During the appointment with the business manager, I jokingly asked if I could get a sibling discount on my daughter when it’s her turn for braces. Surprisingly, she said, “absolutely, we can give you 15% off her orthodontic treatments when she’s ready.” Needless to say, I was very happy I asked.

The obvious time to ask about a sibling discount is with twins who need braces at the same time. If you don’t fall into that category, but have more than one child getting braces in the span of a couple years, be sure to ask right before the second child gets them put on. This technique may also apply to other elective medical procedures, such as acne treatment lasers, and so forth.

2. Summer Camp

My wife and I spend a good chunk of our summer vacation driving our kids to various camps. A few years ago I started inquiring about sibling discounts, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that almost all of them offer something. The size of the discount varies depending on the length of the camp, and whether it’s of the overnight variety or not. From my experience, you stand a great chance of getting a 10%-25% discount simply by asking.

3. College Tuition

It you plan on having at least two kids enrolled in college simultaneously, I hope you take advantage of a 529 college savings plan. You should also be aware of college tuition discounts that many institutions offer. George Washington University famously offers a 50% tuition grant for the second student attending at the same time. Many other universities also offer generous sibling discounts. These include Seton Hall, Gonzaga, and Western New England University. Bottom line: Do your research as this could save a big chunk of money, especially with twins or siblings very close in age.

4. Daycare Costs

If you have more than one child in daycare, ask about a sibling discount. While you’ll typically have to pay a babysitter more when they watch multiple children, it’s not the case at many childcare facilities. Most will offer a sibling discount in the 10%-15% range. If your children are not in “full-time” daycare, the discount will often be less, typically in the 6%-8% off range. Be proactive and ask when registering your kids.

5. Lessons and After-School Activities

Consider all of the activities your kids are involved in after the final school bell rings. A few extra-curriculars that jump to mind include music lessons, gymnastics, swimming lessons, and dance class. I recently cashed-in on a sibling discount when my two daughters started piano lessons with a private instructor. The piano teacher gave us the option of a 15% discount for separate lessons or a 40% discount on a group lesson. You’ll typically need to inquire about these discounts, as they’re usually not advertised.

6. Tutoring or Coaching

If you have kids involved in any type of tutoring or special coaching, you’ll also want to investigate if sibling discounts are applicable. Whether it’s academic tutoring or private athletic coaching, you can often get a percentage taken off when one or more of your kids are involved. Feel free to negotiate a better rate directly with the coach or tutor. Most will happily give you a discount if you have more than one child using their service. Start at 25% off and be prepared to meet in the middle.

Have you ever cashed in on a sibling discount? If so, how much did you save?

from of the surrounding world – it depends to a decisive extent,
what kind of person today’s baby will become.
V.A. .

It seems quite clear that for a preschool institution in the context of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard, it is very important to involve all additional educational resources and available reserves in the upbringing process.

Social partnership between preschool educational institutions and the families of pupils is a process of interpersonal communication, the result of which is the formation of a conscious attitude in parents to their own views and attitudes in raising a child.

Building relationships between a preschool educational institution and the family in the system of social partnership is an integral part of updating the content of the work of preschool educational institutions in the context of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard for Preschool Education. The change in the legal framework governing these relationships has led to the formation of a new look, both at the status of a parent and a teacher. Common interests and equality of the parties are considered the most important criteria of social partnership. The effectiveness of the kindergarten depends on the interaction and understanding between the teaching staff of the preschool institution and the parent community. The creation of a system of social partnership between the family and the kindergarten will provide conditions for the individualization of the development of each child.

Cooperation is impossible without material for joint work, which contributes to the organization of cooperation of all participants in the educational process, the development of uniform requirements for the upbringing and education of the child in order to form his integrative qualities for his further successful socialization. One of the effective forms of attracting parents to active participation in the educational process and cooperation is thematic actions.

The main goal of the actions carried out in the kindergarten is to create a favorable psychological climate that contributes to the expansion of the living space of the participants in the pedagogical process by introducing new additional meanings, sensual colors, and cultural values into their lives.

The action also carries a great corrective potential. The preoccupation of mothers and fathers with endless household chores and material problems, as well as their own psychological difficulties, prevent them from understanding the child and accepting him as he is. The action promotes family unity, allows parents to become closer to their children, strengthen relationships with them, form a value attitude towards close people, and children get positive feedback from their parents, feel love and their own need.

When conducting thematic actions, the teacher solves pedagogical tasks through the directed organized activities of children: deepening knowledge, educating personality traits, acquiring the child’s experience of life among peers, adults.

Thematic actions can be used in work with parents of pupils of different preschool age, but they become especially relevant when organizing interactive interaction with parents of children of senior preschool age.

Algorithm for preparing and holding an action:

  • Determination of goals and objectives;
  • Selection of methods and forms of conducting;
  • Drawing up a plan (scenario) of an action;
  • Conducting action events by teachers: classes, games, conversations, parent-child meetings, etc. ;
  • Summing up the action.

In my teaching practice, I widely use thematic actions together with parents on various topics.

Action “Mom’s palm”

The action is held with parents of the younger group, which is attended by children 3-4 years old.

Purpose:

  • strengthening parent-child relationships;
  • ensuring a comfortable stay of the child in kindergarten.

Forms and methods:

  • creation of an individual mitten (“mother’s hand”) by mothers.

Each mother is invited to sew or knit a mitten for her child, which will be located in the “Island of Peace” (the center of the psychological comfort of the group). A child during the day can take a mitten, hug it, put it on, play with “mother’s hand” and even “put” it to bed with him during a quiet hour.

“Beautify the Planet” campaign

The campaign is held with parents of older children.

Purpose:

  • strengthening parent-child relationships;
  • formation of ecological consciousness;

Forms and methods:

  • cultivation of decorative flowers to decorate the group and kindergarten area.

At the beginning of spring (March-April), children together with their parents are invited to plant and grow flowers at home from marigold and calendula seeds to decorate the group and (or) subsequent planting in the ground at the kindergarten site.

The campaigns “Garden all year round”, “Green friends” are carried out in a similar way.

Action “Mother’s hat”

The action is held with parents of older children.

Purpose:

  • strengthening parent-child relationships;
  • formation of a value attitude towards close people;
  • creating a festive mood.

Forms and methods of conducting:

  • conversation with children on the topic “Mother’s holiday”

On the eve of March 8 or Mother’s Day, children and their fathers are invited to cut hat silhouettes out of high-quality cardboard or special paper for scrapbooking. Then, in kindergarten, the hat is decorated with various materials of the choice of children, a photo exhibition is arranged with photographs of mothers in designer hats.

Action “River of good deeds”

The action is held with parents of older children.

Purpose:

  • expansion of social ties between children and parents;
  • development of the emotional sphere, the formation of communication skills, mutual respect for other people;
  • fostering a humane and caring attitude towards the world as a whole.

Forms and methods of conducting:

  • conversation with children on the topic “Kindness rules the world”

Preparatory work:

  • making a sketch of the river surface;
  • each child makes a boat using the origami technique, decorating it with a record of the desire to do some good deed;
  • announcement for parents drawing attention to the “River of Good Deeds”;
  • organization of the exhibition.

A conversation is held with the children, during which they are asked to answer the question: “What does kindness mean to you?”. After, the children are invited to think and speak out, what good, kind deed would they like to do? The answers of the children are recorded on the “board” of the boat. A sketch of a river with boats is placed on a stand in the reception area.

Campaign “A toy for children – by the hands of adults”

The campaign is held with parents of younger and older children.

Purpose:

  • involvement of parents in the educational process;
  • creation of a subject-developing environment in a group.

Parents are encouraged to make attributes and manuals for children for various activities. Options for attributes and benefits can be suggested by educators, or provide parents with the opportunity to express their own creativity.

In the course of this action in our kindergarten, a lot of non-traditional sports equipment, tools for artistic creativity, toys and attributes for role-playing games were made.

Photo reports and, of course, the product of the activities and creativity of children, parents and teachers become visual results of the actions. As a result of the actions, a favorable environment is created for increasing the number of contacts between mothers and fathers with teachers, a positive attitude of parents towards the institution is being formed, and the need for organizing family leisure is growing.

The experience of working with parents has shown that as a result of the use of modern forms of interaction, the position of parents has become more flexible. Now they are not spectators and observers, but active participants in the life of their child. The percentage of parents involved in their children’s lives increased from 68% to 92%. Such changes allow us to talk about the effectiveness of using modern forms in working with parents.

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize once again that the family and the preschool institution are two important social institutions of the child’s socialization.

Thematic actions as an effective tool for developing partnerships in the parent-child-teacher system in a preschool institution.
