AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Stonehenge KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

  • My one-year-old daughter, Mira, has been so happy at Stonehenge KinderCare since we enrolled her at the age of three months. The staff is so friendly and professional, and I know they adore Mira. I’ve gotten to know one of Mira’s teachers well: Ms. Kelli. I so appreciate her level of enthusiasm and commitment. Her attentive nature to my daughter is a such a precious gift. What an exemplary teacher. Thank you, Ms. Kelli!

    Julie T. – KinderCare Parent
  • We are amazed at how much our son is learning through the program and the work of the staff. His vocabulary is expanding quickly. He is pointing at things and calling them by their name. He is saying thank you and showing concern for boundaries at home. Every time I pull into the parking lot in the mornings he bursts with excitement, which makes me think he associates school with fun and structure. I am thankful for everyone for their hard work.

Highlights

Stonehenge is located in an area where many prehistoric finds have been made. Stonehenge is considered a mysterious and magical place, various modern sects gather here, including the followers of the Druids. Ever since Stonehenge was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attempts have been made to prevent the inevitable environmental damage caused by the 800,000 tourists who come here every year. nine0009

Construction of Stonehenge

Construction of Stonehenge is divided into three main periods with a total duration of about 2000 years. At the burial site and the cult site there are megaliths – huge blocks of stone, reminiscent of the same stones in other parts of Europe. The megaliths of Stonehenge are located vertically and have transverse ceilings, which distinguishes them from other structures of this kind. nine0009

What Stonehenge looked like before

During the first period of construction, ca. 3100 BC, a round ditch was dug and a rampart was poured. For the shaft, soil taken out of the ditch was used.

The second period began sometime after 2500 BC, when the first megaliths were placed in their place, and the entrance on the northeast side of the circle was moved so that it points exactly to the sunrise. Until now, archaeologists are amazed at the accuracy with which ancient astronomers identified this place.

The third period began after 2000 BC. Additional multi-ton megaliths were installed, which formed the so-called “Sarsenovo ring”. It consists of 30 sandstone blocks 4.25 m high and weighing 25 tons each, laid in a circle with a diameter of 30 m. The limestone blocks weighing 7 tons each were hewn so precisely as to form ceilings over the vertical blocks. They were attached to the top of the supports using a system of spikes and grooves. Joints of this kind correspond to the culture and level of technology of the Bronze Age. In the center of the circle there are five more triliths arranged in the form of a horseshoe. nine0009

Scientists believe that these blocks of granite, some of them weighing 4 tons, were dragged by builders from the Preseli Hills in South Wales, which is 400 km away. Arranged in pairs, the stones are crowned with equally gigantic slabs. Inside the smaller circle are two more horseshoe-like structures, one next to the other, and in the center lies the so-called altar, or altar stone. There are other stones nearby.

As to the question of “how” the people of the Bronze Age managed to transport, process and install these huge stones – especially the megaliths brought from 320 km away – it is clear that this would require a high level of labor organization. But given an important goal, the leaders of the Bronze Age had enough power to plan and carry out such work for decades. The technology of the time, including rollers, levers and rafts, made it possible to carry out such construction. nine0009

Purpose

The position of each block, vertical support and ceiling is strictly adjusted to the position of the sun on the days of the summer and winter solstices. The two inner “horseshoes” are oriented towards sunrise and sunset on the days of the summer and winter solstices. Obviously, the builders attached great importance to this, but the meaning and purpose of the structures are still unknown to experts. Scientists are not certain that Stonehenge served as an astronomical laboratory. It is much more likely to use it as a religious center. In the middle stands an altar of green stone. Other blocks located in the inner circle are called “blue stones”. This is a special kind of basalt mined in Wales, 380 km away. It is difficult to understand how such multi-ton blocks could be transported to such a distance, with the means of the Bronze Age at their disposal. According to the theory of archaeologist Aubrey Barle, they were not transported from place to place at all: supposedly, these blue stones were brought here by an ancient glacier. However, according to legend, the stones were brought to Stonehenge by the great sorcerer Merlin. nine0009

Druid ritual at StonehengeView of Stonehenge from above

Stonehenge myths live on for generations, and this amazing place still attracts crowds of visitors. No one is allowed to enter the inner circle of megaliths, only twice a year, on the day of the summer and winter solstice, the English druids perform their Celtic rites here.

Stonehenge is still a mystery to archaeologists and history buffs. Many different theories have been put forward, but none of them has been fully proven. nine0009

Facts

  • Age: The first traces of religious practices date back to 8000 BC.
  • Stages of construction: First period – 3100 BC; the second – 2500 BC; third – 2000 BC
  • Construction time: In total, the construction took about 2000 years.

According to scientists, Stonehenge appeared around 3000 BC, but the circular megalith was erected in several stages over 2000 years

British archaeologists discovered a site with traces of once installed on it a stone round structure, the size and shape of which coincides with the famous Stonehenge. nine0076

Researchers do not exclude that it could have been dismantled, moved to Stonehenge and reassembled there.

The Vaun Maun site in the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, Welsh and Stonehenge near Salisbury are 240 kilometers apart.

There are no quarries in the vicinity of Stonehenge. Scientists have been wondering for a long time where the distant ancestors brought giant monoliths from, and how they did it with the then primitive technologies.

The ring at Wown Maun has a diameter of 110 meters, like the outer circle of Stonehenge, and is also oriented towards sunrise on the summer solstice. nine0009

The cross section of one of Stonehenge’s stones exactly matches the contours of the pit at Wown Maun. The stones left in Wown Maun and the Stonehenge monoliths belong to the same type of rock – blue-gray sandstone, which is found in the Preseli Hills.

Traces of an ancient circular structure were found in the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, Welsh

Back in the 1920s, British geologist Herbert Thomas suggested that the so-called Stonehenge bluestones were mined in the Carn Menin rock formations in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire , Karn Alv and Kerrig Marshogion. nine0009

  • Scientists say they have figured out how Stonehenge was built. But this does not convince everyone

New finds suggest that a giant structure existed in Wown Maun in finished form, and then the locals for some unknown reason moved and took their sacred stones with them.

The results of the expedition led by Professor Michael Pearson of University College London, who have been studying the Preseli area since 2018, are published in the journal Antiquity. nine0009 Image caption,

Carbon analysis suggests that the Maun Wown complex is approximately 5,400 years old.

Stonehenge was built about 4,500 years ago – about the same time as the great Egyptian pyramids. But unlike the pyramids, its purpose is unknown. Just as for us, it was a mystery to the Celtic Druids who celebrated their rites there in the time of Julius Caesar.

Carbon analysis says that the complex at Wown Maun is approximately 5400 years old. Thus, if the hypothesis is correct, the structure stood there for about nine centuries. nine0009

Archaeological finds confirm that during the Neolithic period, the Preseli area was, by then standards, densely populated.

“It seems that then they just took off and disappeared. Probably, most of the population migrated, taking with them stones – a symbol of identity,” says Professor Pearson.

The version about the resettlement of ancient people from Wales to the modern county of Wiltshire, where Stonehenge is located, is confirmed by DNA analyzes of the remains from ancient burials. nine0009

  • A stone that disappeared 60 years ago has returned to Stonehenge
  • The Battle of Stonehenge
  • They want to build a tunnel under Stonehenge in England. Archaeologists and druids are outraged

The reasons for this migration are unknown, as well as whether Stonehenge was built entirely from the material of Wown Maun, or additional stone was delivered for it from other places in Wales.
