    Biography

On December 26, 1996, the United States was shaken by the terrible news of the death of 6-year-old American Jonbenet Ramsey. The mysterious crime became the subject of heated discussions in the media and remains so today, because the mystery of the death of a young model has not yet been solved.

    Childhood

The girl was the second child in the family, but from early childhood she literally drew her mother’s attention to herself. JonBenet was born on August 6, 1990. Such an unusual sounding name was given to the heiress by her father by combining his two names – John and Bennett. When the baby turned 9months, the parents moved from Atlanta to Boulder, Colorado.

The difference between her and Brother Burke was 3 years. Subsequently, friends and relatives claimed that the incredible beauty and popularity of the younger Ramsey made him jealous. The very same model bathed in the rays of glory.

Parents were wealthy people. My father was in the software business. Mother Patricia, in the past “Miss West Virginia”, helped her husband and raised two children. From the outside, the family was ideal – a comfortable home, financial security, healthy heirs.

A woman closely associated with beauty pageants couldn’t help but find a way to “live another life” with the help of a child. Patricia, realizing that she was growing an incredibly attractive daughter, decided to make her “Miss America”.

Parents often held holidays with a large number of guests. The guests admired the young Jonbenet. Still – big blue eyes, blond hair and a welcoming smile caused admiration. The girl was given compliments, while the mother already had a plan for her daughter’s brilliant career in the fashion world.

    Modeling career

Today, children’s beauty contests are not common and even condemned, but flourished in the 90s. It was financially feasible for the Ramsey family to prepare and represent their daughter before the judges. In addition, John himself sponsored such events.

Jonbenet has perfectly got used to the role of a “doll” for her mother. For her biography, she managed to participate in several competitions. At first, the young model simply did what adults expected of her.

However, the bright life soon captivated her. Extravagant outfits, makeup, chic hairstyles – the young talent fell in love with the world of fashion, and these attributes have become an integral and almost daily ritual.

Pamela Griffin, one of the judges and part-time dresser of the child, later gave an assessment of her behavior on the podium. The woman met the future victim of a mysterious murder when she was 4 years old. But, according to Pamela’s feelings, the girl behaved like an 18-year-old.

Patricia Ramsey once saw Griffin’s daughter Christine on stage and asked her to work with JonBenet. She agreed and began to instill good taste in the ward, taught her demeanor on stage, a model gait. She grasped the lessons on the fly and immediately demonstrated what she had learned at the next performance. Patricia was pleased with the success of the baby and built a career as a 6-year-old beauty queen.

By these years, the blond girl had won several titles. So, Ramsey became “Little Miss Charlevoix”, “Tiny Beauty of the Nation”, “Little Miss Colorado”. Incredible success went hand in hand with condemnations. Patricia was accused of making her daughter look sexy. But the parents considered it envy, stubbornly continuing to go towards the intended goal.

    Death

On December 25, 1996, a small star went out without ever flaring up. The terrible events of the next day began with the fact that Patricia found a note on the stairs of the house. On three sheets, an unknown person left a message that her daughter was kidnapped. The demand was for the girl’s parents to hand over $118,000.

The frightened woman immediately called the police. After a while, the Ramsey house was full of officials, as well as friends who came to support. Everyone was waiting for the agreed time, when the criminal was supposed to call and tell how he wants to get the ransom.

However, the call never came through. And a couple of hours later, the body of the murdered Jonbenet was discovered by her father in the basement of the house – a room that he himself identified as a wine cellar. It became clear that the young model was already dead at the time the note was written, and the message itself was a way to lead the investigation down the wrong path.

The cause of death of the little victim was asphyxia. A wire was wrapped around the child’s neck and arms. But the medical examination also found out that the girl had suffered a skull injury, as a result of which she developed cerebral edema.

After a criminal case was opened, the mother and father of the deceased Jonbenet were the first to be suspected. And they behaved strangely, refusing to cooperate with the investigation and testify separately.

Several versions were worked out. The first was based on the fact that the baby suffered from bedwetting, and the woman simply flared up and hit the child. And then, seeing the blood, she got scared and decided to stage the kidnapping.

The second hypothesis was based on suspicions of involvement in the death of the sister of her older brother Burke, who experienced envy and jealousy. The father, who was taking psychoactive drugs at the time, was not removed from the accounts either.

However, none of these theories has been confirmed. Neither psychics, nor detectives, nor criminal authorities came close to solving the crime a single step. In interviews, heartbroken parents warned friends and residents of Boulder that their daughter’s killer was alive and at large.

Meanwhile, the baby was buried in the same place where she was born – in Atlanta, Georgia. Soon Patricia and John also moved there to be near the child’s grave. The police decided to take advantage of this moment and built a listening device into the tombstone. There was a hope that relatives would say something important when they visited Jonbenet.

Surprisingly, neither mother nor father came there after the funeral. But they traveled on TV shows, sharing their grief and speculating about the alleged killer. Soon the world saw the book of the Ramsey couple “The Death of Innocence”, which tells about the biography of their daughter and includes their reflections on what happened. By the way, the authors put their own photo on the cover.

The JonBenet case was a regular feature in the media. In 2006, a man named John Mark Carr was detained, who admitted that he was next to the girl at the time of her death, and also loved her with all his heart. However, a DNA examination proved his innocence. The documentary series, which consists of three episodes, details all the theories of the investigation, including this one.

In 2016, pedophile Gary Oliva was caught on charges of possessing child pornography. More than 300 photographs of a young American model were found on him. And then his former classmate presented the police with letters that he received from Gary, where he confessed to the murder of JonBenet. Today, Oliva’s guilt has not been legally proven.
