Salt Lake therapeutic mud near Stavropol

Where is Salt Lake and how to get there.

Few people know that not far from Stavropol, in the Aleksandrovsky district, there is a unique Salt Lake.

Road from Stavropol.

Finding it is quite easy, the navigator shows the way. The road is excellent, beautiful at any time of the year.

Highway towards Aleksanrovsky.

On the highway from Stavropol you need to get to the village of Severny. You can turn off the road through the fields, there is also a road there, but there are no landmarks, you can make a wrong turn. So it is more convenient to focus on the village.

At the first traffic light after entering the village, turn left.

Further the road leads through the village.

Road through the village.

We drive all the time along the main road. Asphalt here, to put it mildly, is not very good. But the car will pass carefully.

The village ends and further along the fields there is a rolled, fairly even clay road. In dry weather, even a low car will easily pass, but in the rain it is better not to drive here.

From the mountain you can see Severnoye and the road across the field.

The road through the fields is about eight kilometers.

The salt lake can be seen from afar. We are approaching closer.

The lake can be seen from afar. Large round pond in the middle of the field. Due to the concentration of salt, there is little vegetation around it. The shore is covered with salt and white foam from the water.

Salt lake. Shore. The entire shore is covered with salt

You can drive up to the water along the entire shore. But they stop mainly on one side, where the passage is smoother and the lake is a little deeper. So stay close to vacationers.

There are no amenities on the beach. Fortunately, civilization has not reached these places. So you will have to change clothes in the car, covering each other. And bring fresh water with you. The bigger, the better. There are no fresh water sources nearby.

The lake is shallow, in the deepest places – just above the knees. The water is yellow-brown in color with a characteristic odor. Warm in summer, like fresh milk. Everyone is surprised that it is impossible to drown in it. The water throws you up like a cork. Interesting sensations, you can just sit or lie on the water without any effort.

Care must be taken when splashing in the water so that splashes do not get into the eyes. Feelings are far from pleasant.

Therapeutic mud of the lake. Healing properties.

But the most valuable is at the bottom of the lake. Not near the shore, but a few meters from it. The bottom becomes soft, the legs sink into the dark mass.

This is black therapeutic mud, for which people come here even from other cities, spend the night in tents for several days. Rich in minerals, it helps with diseases of the joints and skin.

Spread the mud and wait about half an hour. Many collect it with them in packages and banks, they take it home.

What to bring to the lake

Please note that the dirt is very difficult to wash and launder. Therefore, we put on old unnecessary swimsuits and swimming trunks. Salt leaves white marks and streaks everywhere. In general, you do not need to dress up.

Rubber slippers. It is not comfortable to walk barefoot everywhere, dry prickly grass and small stones hurt your feet.

Lots of fresh water. How much can you bring. It is convenient if there are large flasks. If not, you can collect five-liter plastic bottles.

A lot of salt constantly makes me want to drink. Wash hands and face with fresh water after each bath.

Wash off dirt in salt water. And then wash yourself with fresh water, which you brought with you. Try not to touch things, cars, phones, etc. with salty hands. There are white prints everywhere.

We try to visit the lake several times during the summer. In addition to the health benefits, every time we get great pleasure from bathing.

Irina Nikitina (Tyumen region)

If foreign routes are again in question this summer, “RG” decided to look for new ones ” trails” in Russia, moreover, in its hinterland. Of course, thousands of kilometers from the capitals in the rural wilderness, you are unlikely to find an all-inclusive resort, but you will definitely be delighted with the local nature and its gifts.

Irina Nikitina

There are about 40 thousand lakes in the Tyumen region. Salt Lake can be called a miracle. Those who have traveled around the world say that it is comparable to the Dead Sea of Israel and the Matsesta resort in Sochi.

According to official papers, Salt has been a monument of regional significance since 2011. For Okunev people, local residents, this is a brand from time immemorial. During the war, the lake helped to survive: the villagers evaporated salt for sale and for the front. And in peacetime, it improves health thanks to the healing water, mud and air. How vigorously it smells of hydrogen sulfide!

The pond itself is not deep, even in the middle it will hardly reach two meters. The water is so salty that there are no fish, reeds do not grow, but there is an abundance of pink brine shrimp. By the way, the properties of water were recently confirmed by employees of the Yekaterinburg Medical Research Center for Prevention and Health Protection of Industrial Workers.

Mud (this is processed organic matter of the same brine shrimp) and blue clay are considered especially valuable. They are saturated with salt and help with joint diseases, psoriasis, skin and gynecological diseases. In a word, a real balneological resort in the wilderness, arranged by Mother Nature. The most interesting thing is that 70 meters from Salty there is a fresh lake in which bathers can rinse before going home.

And now for the costs. Most obvious: they are minimal. You will only have to shell out for the road, and holidays on the Salt are free, because the lake, although it is protected by the state, is open to absolutely everyone. There are no fences and guards. Someone comes by bus, rents a house in Okunevo, goes to the procedures on foot. But most tourists prefer to get here by car and camp right on the beach.

The head of the Okunevskaya village administration, Sergei Kurkov, says that on the hottest days before the pandemic, up to 700 vacationers came to the banks of the Salt.
