The Lancaster School District serves over 11,000 students and is known for its rich diversity and highly professional faculty and staff. We are located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a thriving community that has become a regional center for culture, art, dining and history. SDoL is actively seeking candidates who expand the diversity of our team’s experience and talents and support our mission of ensuring that every child in our community receives an excellent education. nine0009
Professionals choosing a career in the Lancaster School District will find that Lancaster, Pennsylvania is a great place to live. SDoL serves students from Lancaster City and the neighboring township, together forming a highly diverse community of approximately 60,000 residents.
Lancaster and its region are booming and prospering, earning high marks in US News & World Report’s “Best Places to Live” in America. Tucked away among the beautiful, iconic farmlands of the Amish, Lancaster City has become known as a top destination for its cultural, historical, and entertainment attractions. The city has been named one of Forbes’ “10 Coolest Cities in the US to Visit” thanks in part to its booming dining and iconic Gallery Row arts district. It also boasts the Fulton Opera House, one of the oldest theaters in the country, just steps away from the Ware Performing Arts Center, offering great entertainment featuring regional and national artists. Lancaster is a frequent celebrity stop, as musicians, actors and TV presenters appreciate the city’s charm. nine0009
The community offers a variety of affordable housing which includes objects of historical, classic and modern elegance. Lancaster residents have access to excellent health care from Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, the region’s largest employer.
Lancaster is home to a variety of educational institutions offering numerous undergraduate and graduate education opportunities. Franklin and Marshall College, Millersville University, and the College of Art and Design of Pennsylvania call their home of the county, as do Harrisburg Community College and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. In addition, Lancaster’s central location provides access to many of the region’s excellent educational institutions. nine0009
In addition to all that our community has to offer, Lancastrians enjoy their proximity to major urban areas to the east.
Lancaster is just a short drive from Baltimore (55 miles), Philadelphia (70 miles), Washington (87 miles) and New York (160 miles). Travel to and from Lancaster is made easy with direct access to major highways. The recently refurbished Amtrak City Station is one of the busiest rail hubs in the area. Travelers are served by several regional and international airports. nine0009
Pennsylvania, Lancaster County: samsebeskazal – LiveJournal
Pennsylvania, Lancaster County. July 2020, which in places looks like it could have been July 1920. There is no particular difference.
Personally, nothing switches me better than another trip away from the bustle of the city, people and their passions for seething to endless fields, centuries-old stability and the smell of manure, which, however, sometimes hurts the eyes.
I understand why I love visiting the Amish so much. Those regions are similar to the American outback, which we read about in books, saw in the movies and generally imagined once. Simple, understandable, living by daily work and little interested in what is happening in big cities. After some time, you yourself become, albeit not for long, a part of all this. The consumed information flow from the waterfall turns first into a stream, and then completely into a rare drop. And somewhere deep inside, your distant peasant ancestor wakes up, which suddenly makes your soul feel very, very good. Instead of a phone with Facebook and the latest news, you choose to walk along the field, contemplate the growing corn with fireflies flying between its stalks, and try to talk to the cows. Cows really look at you like you’re crazy and go away from the road out of harm’s way. It is not known what one can expect from this urban with some incomprehensible black thing in his hands. In fact, he doesn’t even have a horse. nine0009
1. Road traffic.
2. At the local market at a pretzel outlet.
3. The Amish are difficult to photograph, not because they don’t like it (and they don’t like it and ask you not to), but because they are so simple and friendly that you yourself begin to feel uncomfortable disturbing their peace .
4. Construction of an extension.
5. The mule is resting from work.
6. Hay loading.
7. Steam locomotives very harmoniously complement everything that happens around.
8. There are lifeguards on the beach, and there are lifeguards in the corn maze. Finding a way out of a maze planted with corn is an old American pastime. There are routes of varying difficulty and in case you get lost, there is a lifeguard sitting in the center of the field on a tower 🙂
9. Another local fun is to feed the animals. On the farm, at the store, anywhere. They put up a corral with goats, chickens, sheep, llamas, ponies and someone else, and vending machines for food. Animal food, your children entertainment for several hours. nine0009
10. Mother and daughter are going to the city. 2020 Or maybe not 🙂
11. Local car dealer with the right cars for the outback.
12. Don’t forget to vote. Campaign banner on the side of the road.
13. I drove into the local large city of Lancaster, where a decent percentage of the black population lives and did not see a single inscription about BLM. But a lot about masks.
14. Roadster in Pennsylvania fields. I tried to catch up with him, but I couldn’t. nine0009
15. Hut built in 1755. It was once the home of the local community.
16. A crop of school buses sprouted in the fields.
17. Church on the roadside.
18. An introvert farmer’s dream house.
19. Wooden covered bridge built in 1878. They are very common in those parts.
20. While I was filming the video, an old man on an electric carriage left the bridge and said loudly “Good morning!”. It was noon on the clock. nine0009
21. Bridge inside. They are covered to last longer. An ordinary wooden bridge costs 20 years. A covered one can be a hundred.
22. Horses at the farm near the bridge are waiting for hay to be thrown from above.
23. Refrigerated trailer.
24. Everyone produces something different here. On this farm, among other things, children’s carts and bicycles are made.
25. Announcement at the local Mennonite church.
26. This is how grass is cut when there is no gasoline or electricity. Parcels from Amazon are on the porch 🙂
27. Windows screen saver for the Lancaster County region 🙂
28. They dismantled the old building and sell 250-year-old beams.
29. Local car dealer 🙂
30. Amish is driving a tractor home. It seems to me that even grandfather Lenin performed at this 🙂
31. Road.
32. The woman went out to check the mail. It’s also difficult to shoot them, because they all whip. They feel like the camera is pointing at them.
33. Landscapes.
34. Another interesting technical solution in Amish mechanization.
35. Coronavirus go away.
36. Mennonite version of the Starbucks drive-in. In addition to latte, there is also love for Jesus.
37. The Amish, of course, like when things are simpler and more difficult, but more and more they are switching to the mechanization of some processes. For example, cutting grass. nine0009
38. If it seems to you that there are only carts, fields and cows, then here is a huge distribution center for the fashion brand Urban Outfitters (remember, I showed them their office in Philadelphia).
39. A local girl disappeared and notices about this were actually hanging on every post.
40. Rainy traffic.
