AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Kids’ Station powered by KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Getty Villa, Los Angeles, CA, USA HiSoUR – HiSoUR – Hi So You Are

The Getty Villa is located on the east end of the Malibu coast in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, California, USA. The Getty Villa, one of the two campuses of the J. Paul Getty Museum, is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the art and culture of Ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria. The collection includes 44,000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6500 BC. to 400 AD, including Lansdowne Heracles and the Victorious Youth.

In 1954, oil magnate J. Paul Getty opened a gallery near his home in Pacific Palisades. Running out of space quickly, he built a second museum, the Getty Villa, on a site below the hill from the original gallery. The Getty Villa is a recreation of a Roman country house from ancient designs and the original home of the Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is modeled after the Villa Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy. It was designed by architects Robert E. Langdon, Jr. and Ernest Wilson, Jr., in consultation with archaeologist Norman Neuerburg.

The design of the villa was inspired by the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum and included additional details from several other ancient monuments. The Villa dei Papiri (“Villa of the Papyri”) was rediscovered in the 1750s. Excavations have unearthed bronze and marble sculptures, wall paintings, colorful stone pavements, and over a thousand papyrus scrolls—hence the name.

To meet the museum’s overall space needs, the museum decided to split the two locations into the Getty Villa, which houses Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities. Villa Getty, surrounded by Roman-style gardens, showcases Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities in Roman-inspired architecture. The art is organized by theme, such as Gods and Goddesses, Dionysus and the Theatre, and Stories of the Trojan War. The new architectural plan surrounding the villa imitates archaeological excavations. In 2016-2018, the collection was rebuilt in chronological order with an emphasis on art criticism.

Building Complex
The villa is located east of the city limits of Malibu in the city of Los Angeles in the community of Pacific Palisades. The 64-acre (26 ha) museum complex is located on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, about 30 m from the entrance to the building. The museum has a 48,000 sq. ft (4500 sqm).

Buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, most of the Villa Papiri remains unexcavated. Therefore, the architects based many of the architectural and landscape details of the museum on elements of other ancient Roman houses in the cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabia. The scale, appearance and some materials of the Getty Villa are taken from the Villa dei Papiri.

The gardens are an integral part of the Getty Villa setting, as in an ancient Roman home, and include herbs and shrubs inspired by those grown in ancient Roman homes for food and ceremonies. A wide and light-filled view of the Villa’s Atrium, right at the main entrance, which has an intricately tiled floor and square pool, while the rear doors open onto the Inner Peristyle and its garden.

The renovation of the Getty Villa began in 1996. The museum building has retained its original design, but the architects Machado and Silvetti have made some changes to it. The main entrance was relocated, windows and skylights were installed in the upper galleries, and some new buildings were added to the campus, including a new parking structure, an entrance pavilion, and a classic outdoor theatre.

The visit begins at the open-air entrance pavilion and then continues along a scenic path to the center of the site. Because each building is at a different height, visitors see different points of view at every turn. The first view of the villa includes the original museum building and the Barbara and Lawrence Fleishman Theatre, a classic 450-seat outdoor theater based on ancient prototypes. The refurbishment used modern materials and design: wood, bronze, glass, travertine and wood, molded concrete, in harmony with the original style of the Getty Villa.

To the west of the museum is the 450-seat Greek Open Air Theatre, which hosts evening performances named after Barbara and Lawrence Fleishman. The theater faces the west side of the villa and uses the entrance as a stage.

To the northwest of the theater is a 1,440 square meter, three-story building built on a hill that houses a museum shop on the lower level, a cafe on the second level, and a separate dining room on the upper level. To the north of the villa is an indoor hall with 250 seats (930 m2).

On the hill above the museum is the original Getty Private Ranch and Museum Wing, which Getty added to his home in 1954. Now they are used as curatorial offices, conference rooms and libraries. Although the campus is not open to the public, it does include the grave of J. Paul Getty on the hill behind his ranch.

The 230-square-meter outdoor entrance pavilion is also built into the hill next to the four-story, 248-car south garage at the south end of the Outer Peristyle. The north 200 car garage is located behind the ranch complex. Museum building covering 105,500 square feet (9800 m2) is located in the form of a square overlooking the inner courtyard of the Peristil.

Gardens
The four gardens at the Getty Villa Museum offer fresh air and tranquility. Inspired by ancient Roman designs, the gardens are an integral part of the Getty Villa and include fountains, sculptures and colorful plants known to have grown in the ancient Mediterranean. On the grounds of the Getty Villa there are four different gardens planted with Mediterranean plants known to have been cultivated by the ancient Romans.

Outer Peristyle
The largest garden is the garden of the Outer Peristyle, a replica of the garden at Villa dei Papiri. The garden measures 308 by 105 feet (94 m × 32 m), with a 67 m long pool in the center. In ancient Roman times, the outer peristyle garden was used for conversation with guests and for solitary contemplation. Replicas of bronze statues that have been excavated at the Villa dei Papiri, the Roman villa on which the Getty Villa was modeled. Depicting famous philosophers, politicians, deities, athletes and animals, they stand roughly where they stood at Villa Papiri.

The north wall is frescoed with landscapes and architecture copied from the Villa dei Papiri and another villa in Oplontis. The frescoes depicting theatrical masks on garlands stretched between picturesque columns are copies of frescoes from the villa of Publius Fannius Sinistor. The central reflecting pool is approximately three feet deep. At Villa dei Papiri, it was used either for bathing or for fish farming.

It has also been used to grow plants, ventilate the house and shelter from the heat. Traditional Roman landscaping is reproduced with well maintained laurel, boxwood, oleander and viburnum bushes. On each long side of the garden of the Outer Peristyle are rows of date palms, and at each corner are pomegranate trees surrounded by ornamental plants such as acanthus, laurel, boxwood, myrtle, ivy, hellebore, lavender, and iris. Copies of Roman bronzes excavated at the Villa dei Papiri and elsewhere are scattered throughout the garden.

Herb Garden
To the west of the Outer Peristyle is the Garden of Herbs, the most functional garden of an ancient Roman home, where traditional herbs derived from ancient Roman texts are grown along with a variety of fruit trees. In ancient times, these gardens provided vegetables and spices for cooking. The plants were also cultivated for their color, aroma and medicinal properties. In a herb garden, it was common to have a well or pool for irrigation, drinking, cooking, and bathing.

In the Herb Garden, plants and fruit trees native to the Mediterranean region were arranged in patterns and labeled with their botanical and common names. There are numerous fruit trees, including apple, pomegranate, apricot, fig, quince, and pear trees. You’ll also find familiar herbs used in cooking such as mint, basil, thyme, oregano, marjoram and sage. Papyri and water lilies are planted in the central basin.

The waterspout of Silenus, companion of Dionysus, the god of wine, envelops the central pool. The spout is a copy of what was found in the atrium of the Villa dei Papiri.

East Garden
The East Garden is small and secluded, surrounded by laurel and plane tree. This is a peaceful place in the shade of plane trees and laurel trees. Its main feature is a replica of the famous shell and mosaic fountain in the House of the Great Fountain in Pompeii, but there is also a circular fountain in the center of the pool of aquatic plants around which the garden is oriented. Two fountains emit relaxing sounds of splashing water: a mosaic and shell fountain on the east wall is framed by theatrical masks, and jets of bronze civet heads gush from the central fountain.

Inner Peristyle
The fourth and final garden is the garden of the Inner Peristyle. Like the Outer Peristyle, a long and narrow pool lined with marble is central to the landscape design; along each side are replicas of bronze female statues from the Villa dei Papiri, modeled as if they were drawing water from a pool. In every corner of the garden there is a white marble replica of a fountain, and there are also several bronze copies of famous Greek sculptures such as Doryphoros and busts of Greek philosophers such as Pythagoras and Democritus.

This garden is designed as a square pillared walkway with ornate marble floors, walls and ceilings. At the Villa dei Papiri, the garden of the Inner Peristyle would have been the first open space that visitors encountered. The space was used for walking and talking. Today you can go to the galleries on the ground floor or sit on a bench and enjoy the atmosphere.

Statues of young women surround a small pool in the center of the courtyard. These statues are reproductions of ancient bronze sculptures found in the Villa dei Papiri, as are the four busts. The Ionic columns that form the colonnade are modeled after those of the House of Colored Capitals in Pompeii, while the square marble fountains at the corners are recreated from a drawing from an eighteenth-century excavation report of the Villa dei Papiri.

The design of the coffered ceiling imitates the decorative stonework of the tombstones from the Street of the Tombs in Pompeii. The walls are decorated with panels depicting stonework and pilasters; The design is based on the great peristyle of the House of the Faun in Pompeii.

Exhibition
The collection consists of 44,000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6500 BC to the present. before 400 AD, of which about 1400 are in plain sight.

Among the outstanding exhibits is the Victorious Youth, one of the few life-size Greek bronze statues that have survived to this day. Lansdowne Heracles is an Adrianian Roman sculpture in the style of Lysippus. The villa also has collections of jewelry and coins, as well as an extensive library of 20,000 volumes dedicated to the art of these periods.

The villa also features a Getty kouros, listed in the museum as “Greek, circa 530 BC. or a modern forgery,” because scientific analysis does not allow us to conclude whether the marble statue can be dated to Greek times. The Getty kouros, if authentic, is one of only twelve life-size intact kuroi that have survived. Zeus Marbury is an 81-inch (2.1 m) tall marble statue that was recovered from the ruins at Tivoli near Rome.

The Getty collections also include paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, prints and drawings, manuscripts and rare books, and photographs. View these collections of art from the Middle Ages to the present at our second location, the Getty Center in Brentwood, about 13 miles east of the Getty Villa.

Floor 1: Greek and Etruscan – Ancient Art in Context
The Getty Villa, home to the Getty Antiques Collection, invites you to experience ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan art in an intimate setting recreating a first-century Roman villa. The galleries are organized to illustrate the development of art in the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean over time.

On the ground floor, you can enjoy Greek art from the Neolithic and Bronze Age – including some of the oldest and rarest pieces in the collection – to the Hellenistic period, when the Greeks developed the first fully naturalistic vision of the human figure. Other galleries explore the fascinating world of the ancient Etruscans and offer context around the villa itself, examining the habits of the collector J. Paul Getty and the reasons behind the creation of the museum.

Floor 2: Roman
The Villa Galleries invite you to explore how the styles, objects and techniques of art developed in different cultures and times of the ancient world. The journey continues on the second floor with sculptures, jewelry, dishes, mummy portraits and many other works of art from the Roman Empire.

Don’t miss the two impressive ceiling galleries with Roman sculptures and special displays dedicated to the luxury of the Romans’ elite coastal retreat 2000 years ago.

Conservation Museum
Preservation is an integral part of the J. Paul Getty Museum’s mission to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art by exhibiting, interpreting and preserving collections for present and future generations. Our work includes authentication, research into artists’ methods and materials, preventive care of collections and loans, and innovation in conservation and fixture manufacturing methodologies. The museum’s four conservation departments are actively collaborating on research and treatment with colleagues from the Getty Conservation Institute and around the world.

Program
