Several agencies are investigating after a mother came to pick up her child from a Plantation daycare only to find that the building was locked and the toddler was left inside, alone.

Plantation police officers responded to the KinderCare Learning Center, located at 10790 West Sunrise Boulevard, just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after the child’s mother went to the daycare to pick up her 2-year-old daughter only to find out the building was locked and the lights were off.

The woman called 911 as she saw her child through the front door window in a pitch-black room, realizing she was locked inside, officials said. She filmed the toddler with her cellphone from the outside of the building as she talked to an operator.

“This poor kid,” the woman is heard saying in the video while sobbing. “I’m coming, OK?”

The Plantation Fire Department was able to pry the building’s doors open to let the child out, according to an incident report. The girl was checked out by paramedics and did not need any medical treatment.

“She’s super traumatized,” the mother, Stephanie Martinez, told NBC 6 over the phone. “It’s not fair.”

KinderCare closes for the day at 6 p.m. but usually stays open for parents who regularly pick up their children late.

The assistant director of the daycare came to the location after the incident and told police she and another teacher were the last two employees on the premises. Both left at around 6:20 p.m. and the mother arrived around eight minutes later to pick up her child, the incident report said.

The mother told police she did not receive a call from the daycare to pick up her kid.

It’s still unclear what exactly led up to the incident. The employees told police they use a tablet to check out all of the children.

KinderCare issued a statement saying while they were thankful the child was quickly found, the incident should have never happened.

“We take all concerns about children’s safety seriously and follow a specific protocol anytime an issue is raised. Part of that protocol includes notifying our agency partners, like state licensing and Child Protective Services, as we did in this case,” the statement read in part. “We also placed the staff members involved on administrative leave while we, and our agency partners, look into the concern further.”

The child’s aunt, Samantha Scaramellino, posted about the incident on Facebook and said the mother called her after she discovered the building was closed and asked her if she had picked up the child.

“After a call to the police I told her to walk around the building banging on all the windows and after a while, in the pitch black room she sees her face emerge,” Scaramellino wrote.

Martinez said her daughter, Anastasia, was able to push a chair next to the window and stand up to get her attention.

“It’s the worst feeling ever. You feel helpless,” Martinez said. “You can’t do anything to console her. She was stressed out and definitely crying the whole time she was there by herself.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Child Protection Services and Plantation Police are investigating the incident.

“Nobody should ever go through this,” Martinez said. “You pay for trust and they completely voided that. I have no words, I’m still in shock right now.”

PLANTATION (CBSMiami) – A South Florida daycare center has issued a statement after a 2-year-old girl was left all alone inside the building after it closed on Wednesday night.

According to a KinderCare spokesperson, “Nothing is more important to us than the safety of the children in our care. While we’re thankful the child was quickly found and was safe, this incident should not have happened.”

According to close family friend Samantha Scaramellino, who posted about the incident on her Facebook page, the girl’s mother Stephanie Martinez, went to pick up her daughter from the KinderCare Child Care Center on Sunrise and Nob Hill in Plantation only to find “the building closed with lights turned off and all.”

Martinez walked around the building “banging on all the windows and after a while, in the pitch-black room she sees her face emerge.”

She had to call 911.

The Plantation Police incident report states the “Plantation Fire Department forced entry without breaking the door. They just caused pry marks.”

The child was recovered safely and “was not in distress.”

The rest of the KinderCare statement reads: “We take all concerns about children’s safety seriously and follow a specific protocol anytime an issue is raised. Part of that protocol includes notifying our agency partners, like state licensing and Child Protective Services, as we did in this case. We also placed the staff members involved on administrative leave while we, and our agency partners, look into the concern further.

As these investigations take place, we’ll also take immediate steps to ensure this kind of thing doesn’t happen again. All of our teachers and staff will be retrained on proper child supervision. They’ll also receive additional training on childcare best practices as part of the curriculum we already had planned for all teachers and staff at our centers across the country for Professional Development Day on Monday.

The police incident report states the last two people in the building were the Assistant Director Nichole Burrillo and teacher Lucilena Viggiano.

“They both checked inside of the school and locked all doors.” It also says Burrillo was in charge of using a tablet to check out all of the children. Both left at 6:20 p.m. and Martinez arrived 8 minutes later.  Martinez said she never received a call from the school to pick up her daughter.

The business closes at 6:00 p.m. but stay opens for parents who regularly pick up kids late, according to the report.

BSO Child Protection Investigative Services will launch an investigation.

“Alenka” – the first Russian-speaking kindergarten in Orlando

Bright, spacious, cozy kindergarten with a huge playground, a large dining room, where kids are fed homemade food of Slavic cuisine. Numerous play areas, reading corners, areas for teaching children to write, read, count, art, music and dance – every little thing has been thought out in the new kindergarten so that both children and their parents are happy!

The first official Russian garden in Orlando was opened by the spouses Alena Zverovich and Roman Katrichenko, who have already earned fame and the trust of their parents thanks to their home garden “SuperKids”. After graduating from the Pedagogical University in her native Minsk, Alena worked in a kindergarten for several years. The work experience and knowledge gained helped her to properly organize her business after moving to the USA. Their home kindergarten with Roman from the very first day of its work became a favorite among our compatriots – the queue was occupied there almost until the birth of a child.

“Now that we have opened the Alyonka kindergarten, our home garden has stopped working,” Alena and Roman say. “Fortunately, we can accommodate many more children here. We have transferred all our forces to our new project. And this is really great work. Both in the home and in the stationary garden, our main rule is to do everything efficiently and conscientiously, just as we would do for our own children. By the way, our children also go to our kindergarten.

Having determined that the location of the future garden should be equally convenient for all Russian-speaking residents of the city, Roman and Alena chose downtown Orlando. In the building chosen there, the guys remade almost everything, trying to bring the kindergarten as close as possible to the standards of classical preschool institutions in the countries of the former Soviet Union.

– Our kindergarten is open for children from 1 to 5 years old. We prepare full breakfasts, lunches and dinners every day from the best products. There is also a hearty afternoon snack. We have a very convenient schedule, parents can choose whether they want full-time or part-time for their children. You can also choose the number of days per week. For two or more children from the same family, we have a discount, – explains Roman.

– As for the educational part, all our teachers have the necessary local certificates and licenses to work in the garden, as well as behind their shoulders – experience in kindergartens in their homeland, – says Alena Zverovich. – We, of course, place the main emphasis on the study of the Russian language, traditions and culture by children. Within a couple of months after visiting our kindergarten, children who before that did not speak and understand Russian at all, begin to speak freely, sing songs and delight their parents with the rhymes they have learned.

Moreover, spouses Roman and Alena constantly organize additional programs on the basis of their garden. For example, thanks to the super popular Parents Night Out service, parents can leave their children in Alyonka on Friday evening until 11 am to go to a restaurant, to a concert or to do any other planned business.

In February, Alena and Roman proposed a new program “Baby and Mom”. Communicating with other children under the strict guidance of teachers and mothers, the child is involved in motor, sensory, cognitive games. This program is designed for babies from 9 months to 3 years. Also, the daily routine in kindergarten includes such necessary disciplines as speech therapy, drawing, dancing, a drama club and even cooking classes.

Alyonka also periodically organizes family picnics, where young families communicate and get to know each other and help their children create crafts and be creative. And mothers attend drawing master classes with pleasure: in a pleasant company, with wine and treats, mothers learn to paint under the guidance of a professional artist.

Children and adults are welcome here. In “Alyonka” it’s home-style tasty, really interesting and great in our opinion!

Our Kindergarten in Florida

Demid has already reached the age when he no longer has enough communication only with mom and dad. I began to notice that he had a huge need to communicate with peers, so we decided to send him to a kindergarten in Florida.

We didn’t choose a kindergarten for long, and to be honest, we didn’t choose it at all. We have a wonderful Lutheran church with a school and kindergarten groups not far from our house. By the way, here each church has its own school and its own kindergarten, and those that we saw were of very high quality. For example, our Lutheran school has its own baseball field, and in another school we saw a huge swimming pool on the street

and a good sports hall.

Every school and kindergarten has its own uniform and its own totem symbol, most often it is some kind of animal.

Here it is customary to attract parishioners to church in the most unusual ways. So near some church we saw about 10 people with posters like “come in to pray”. Marketing has also reached religion.

School buses often drive along the streets, taking children to school and taking them home. I already wrote once that at this time in school zones the maximum speed limit is 15 miles per hour (about 20 km / h), and all drivers adhere to it. And at the crossroads there are special people who regulate traffic if children pass.

For us, in choosing a kindergarten, religion is not very important in terms of the time spent by the child, we paid more attention to what the children do, to toys and to the teacher. We liked everything in this kindergarten and we decided that we would take the child there.

In the garden they play, make crafts, read, listen to the bible, walk, sleep and eat. The church, together with the school and kindergarten, organizes family days with games and charity sales, where parents with children can come.

To begin with, we decided to give it to 12:30 three days a week. This time included outdoor and indoor games, reading, and lunch. Then you can leave until 15:00 and 18:00 the same three days a week or five. Most children in Demina’s group stay until 6 pm. Since the kindergarten is English-speaking, therefore communication takes place in English.

Prices start at $135 per week for three days until 12:30 pm and go up to $180 for five days until 6:00 pm. In addition, it was necessary to make an initial payment ($75) and buy a separate form. The spread of prices for other kindergartens, which we learned about the same.

In order for a child to be taken to kindergarten, two certificates are required: from a pediatrician and a certificate of vaccinations. If the child has vaccinations, then a pediatrician can also give a certificate about them. If the child does not have vaccinations, then you need to go to the health department and take from them a form on refusal of vaccinations for religious reasons (the form is free and is done very quickly).

You can choose any pediatrician. He must examine the child, we also passed a blood and urine test. Our visit to the pediatrician + tests cost $130.
