AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Herndon Avenue KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

Gymnastics and Tumble

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • I am happy to say that my daughter attends KinderCare.  She has grown up so much.  She has attended KinderCare since she was fours months old and I am so happy with her growth.  I love the teacher interactions and the relationships that I see my daughter has with her teacher.

    Andrea – KinderCare Parent
  • Ms. Margarita is deserving of special accolades! She does an incredible job with teaching, doing projects, instilling self-confidence and sensitivity to the needs of all her students.

    Jennifer R. – KinderCare Parent
  • Our son started in a in-home daycare and is now at KinderCare. We love the people and the place. We feel comfortable and safe sending him every day. The caregivers are very warm, friendly, caring, and professional. Our son is stimulated by the daily activities and and is having a lot of fun.

    Casey – KinderCare Parent
  • The school has been a great. My children have all been happy and eager to go. They have certainly learned more than if they had stayed home. The teachers are more than capable and very loving and involved. The director is on site and easy to find. In addition, the premises are clean and neat. Other schools in the area that I toured do not measure up to KinderCare Learning Center.

    Jamie K. – KinderCare Parent
  • My daughter has been going to KinderCare for just about two years. She’s four and we’d been looking for a preschool that would fit our needs in teaching her not just the fundamentals but also the social skills she needs for Kindergarten. KinderCare has a friendly office staff that has made both my daughter and myself happy. Her teacher is the best match for both personalities to enjoy learning, as well as teaching. Thank you KinderCare for making the start of a my daughter’s education a great one!

    Maria J. – KinderCare Parent

We are your trusted caregiver. Our centers are state-licensed and regularly inspected to make sure everything meets or exceeds standards, including child-to-teacher ratios and safe facilities. Our centers aren’t just licensed—most are accredited, too! Find out more.

Do you offer part-time schedules at Herndon Avenue KinderCare?

Everybody’s schedule is different. We’re happy to offer quality, affordable part-time and full-time childcare. Drop-in care may also be available. Reach out to your Center Director to learn more.

How does naptime work at Herndon Avenue KinderCare?

Our teachers meet every child’s needs during naptime. Our teachers know how to get babies to nap. In fact, they are pros at getting children of any age to nap. Visit our article on “10 Ways We Help Kids Get a Great Daycare Nap” to learn more.

Do you support alternative diets?

We strive to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we provide a vegetarian option at mealtime, take care to not serve common allergens and can adapt menus based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll work with you to figure out a plan.

Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?

We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

Changing the world, one student at a time

We are a school where children find the joy in learning — and thus make it possible for them to continue learning for the rest of their lives.

To think mathematically.
To solve problems.
To create things.
To encounter great literature that inspires their character development.
To build themselves as capable, efficacious beings.
To place themselves in history and in society.
To spark meaningful friendships and deep personal values that last a lifetime.

Our goal at Guidepost Montessori is to serve each individual child, to help them realize their limitless potential, and the opportunities they will have to create real and lasting change throughout their lifetime.

Hear from our Guidepost Families

Our 2 and 4-year-old kids attend Guidepost Montessori 5 days a week, and we are very pleased with the professionalism, care, daily updates shared on their progress and overall good feeling that we get when we drop off and pick them up each day. Highly recommend the school!

“Guidepost has been a perfect fit”

Guidepost has been a perfect fit for our pre-schooler! The staff at Guidepost are truly amazing. The guides are compassionate, understanding, and informative. I love the app they use to provide daily updates about what my little one is learning. Since enrolling at Guidepost, my daughter’s independence has increased, she’s learned skills to more effectively express her emotions when she’s upset, and she has learned so many things! Each day on our drive home she tells me about her daily artwork, the fun playground, and the new lessons she learned. Aside from the education component, the community is phenomenal. The school has hosted multiple virtual events, including pumpkin painting and hot cocoa in October and a book fair!

“The best decision we have made”

Enrolling our daughter at Guidepost has been THE BEST decision we have made. We were nervous because she is so young and due to COVID, hadn’t been around many other children or had any experience in a school environment but the administrators and guides at Guidepost were welcoming, patient, helpful and kind. After only 3 weeks, our daughter LOVES school and can’t wait to go each morning. And we see her developing new skills in front of our eyes. We could not be happier with our experience at Guidepost!

90,000 residents of the Solnechny village of the Volgodonsk region are sounding the alarm

A unique kindergarten in the village of Solnechny, Dobrovolsky rural settlement, Volgodonsky district, Rostov region, is being destroyed before our eyes.

The village of Solnechny near Volgodonsk appeared simultaneously with the construction of a poultry farm for its employees. Once there was a real oasis here, where many residents of Volgodonsk sought to move. The highlight of the village at the end of 19The 80s became a kindergarten, it was called “Sunny Bunny”. A unique building erected according to the Baltic project, similar to a large teremok, and a huge picturesque area in the quiet center of the village were a real attraction. But for the time being. This building is now 35 years old. From the weather and time, it came to a deplorable state. The roof is crumbling before our eyes, the windows are leaky, the concrete steps have turned into dust.

– This garden was being built before my eyes, we all admired it, it was like a tower, it was very beautiful. What kindergartens do we have in the city? Typical ordinary boxes, and this is just a miracle. This miracle has now turned into, God knows what.

The most beautiful building of the kindergarten “Sunny Bunny” in the village of Solnechny needs major repairs.

“Everything is falling apart, everything is in a terrible state. Inside, yes, the staff is trying and the crafts there are very beautiful. In general, the girls are great. My granddaughter went to nursery here. It’s cold, of course. In winter it is very cold, in summer it is understandable. Now she goes to school here. Well, it’s just scary. Honestly, it’s scary. The roof is not today, so tomorrow it will fly away. The steps are not today, so tomorrow they will collapse. It’s a pity just a kindergarten, he is 35 years old. He turned 36 this year. Nothing was done here. Perhaps they gave something, some money, well, cosmetic repairs were carried out inside, holes were plugged. It is clear that, in addition to the roof, there are also some communications: the same gas, the same water, sewerage, plumbing, a lot of things.

Tatyana Eremenko, a resident of the Solnechny village, takes her granddaughter to the elementary school located in the building of the kindergarten, her granddaughter used to go to kindergarten.

– We repaired everything in our houses, and we saw perfectly, and there is practically no difference between the kindergarten and our houses, there is a difference of 2-3 years. And what condition were our roofs in? They were made in exactly the same way, and the slate just crumbled in the hands, here it is exactly the same, for sure! And our walls collapsed the same, and our steps were the same concrete. I’ve never seen steps like this anywhere else. It seems that they are 50 years old, – says a resident of the village of Solnechny Tatyana Eremenko.

Destroyed stairs: the entrances to the preschool are dangerous.

As the locals say, the Sunny Bunny has never seen a major overhaul. If the state inside the building is managed to be kept in a normal state by the efforts of the parents and employees of the garden, then from the outside the former “teremok” is more and more reminiscent of the “count’s ruins”.

– Everything fell into disrepair: dust and trash. The pediments need to be changed, the entire roof needs to be changed, the glazing around the entire perimeter needs to be changed. I’m not talking about what’s inside. But inside, I can tell you, due to the efforts and enthusiasm of the team, it is very cozy, very comfortable, but only until the cold weather. And then all this is reduced to nothing, – says Viktor Soldatov, a deputy of the assembly of deputies of the Dobrovolsky rural settlement, which includes the village of Solnechny, and in the past – the head of this very settlement. He held this post from 2012 to 2016 and knows about the problems of this kindergarten like no one else.

Viktor Soldatov – deputy of the meeting of deputies of the Dobrovolsky rural settlement, former head of the settlement (2012-2016)

– The problem we have, in general, is a long-standing one, we cannot cardinally solve it. This is a unique kindergarten. This is a wonderful Baltic project, very comfortable inside. There used to be when it was new. I am not a builder, but nevertheless, it is obvious that no one was engaged in roofing at all. Nobody has ever repaired it. Rain or snow, it all goes down. The glazing fell into disrepair, no one repaired the frames, they are wooden, at one time they were good, now they are nothing. Even in my years of office, everyone complained, they said that they sealed these windows, covered them over, but anyway, it was very cold in the children’s groups. Although the batteries are hot, everything blows out. No matter how many deputies and I went out to the district administration, everyone just nodded their heads. But at that time it was also more difficult with finances, we understood this, nevertheless, we said that at least in parts it was necessary to give out some money in order to somehow maintain this building in good condition, because this is a kindergarten.

The windows and roof of the building are in urgent need of replacement.

– In my opinion, somewhere from 2014 to 2015, before the winter, just some work was done by the district administration, some cosmetic work was done to somehow get through the winter, but more, at least I didn’t see it,” says Viktor Soldatov.

Local residents and deputy Soldatov believe that the kindergarten was destroyed not only by time and natural phenomena, but also by the dismissive attitude of the district administration, which is not serious about the problem of the only preschool institution in the village and does not seek to allocate funds even for its maintenance, not to mention capital repair.

– In general, I did not even expect that they could treat a socially significant object so negligently. Here, several rooms have been given over to an elementary school. Therefore, this room is doubly necessary: as a kindergarten and as a school for three primary classes.

If you really do, then you have to do it well, it will turn out badly. If you look at the appearance, we all have our own houses, and we perfectly understand what we are talking about. The roof is completely dead – it needs to be removed, the pediments should be removed, all this should be covered with modern materials, plastic glazing should be installed, plastic frames should be inserted and, of course, all approaches should be repaired, although this is secondary, but nevertheless, this is a view of the building itself. And this is only at first glance. And if the builders start making estimates, there can be a lot of other nuances and trifles that we, as non-professionals, may not even notice now, – the deputy is sure.

Veronika Stolyar is the mother of a preschooler. Her son has been going to the kindergarten “Sunny Bunny” for the second year. A young mother says that due to poor conditions, many parents have moved their children to the city. In groups, it is unbearably cold in winter, hot in summer, and outside the building is completely fearful.

– We have been living here for 2 years, my child goes to the younger group of this kindergarten, we gave him a year and 4 months, now he is 2 and a half years old. Kindergarten likes only teachers.

Veronika Stolyar, the mother of a preschooler attending the kindergarten “Sunny Bunny” could not hold back her tears.

It is very cold in winter, very hot in summer. There are no vacuum cleaners – we buy them ourselves, there are no Christmas trees – we buy them ourselves, there are no toys – we buy them ourselves. This is a beautiful playground, but we also paint and maintain it ourselves.

In the summer, the kindergarten goes on vacation for a month, supposedly for repairs, but there is no repair. We came here this summer on August 1, we don’t even have grass cut! We talked about all this, went to the district administration, they all knew about it. We talked a lot, everyone watched, took pictures. But before your arrival, thank God, they mowed the grass. And that’s about it, shall we say.

The children’s playground is maintained and put in order by the parents of preschoolers themselves.

Children get cold in winter, we dress them in two tights. Well, it’s really very cold, and the kids are small. Everyone knows about the problems, but nothing is being done. Look at these stairs. You understand, the children are small, it is slippery to go down, there are very, very many problems. We appealed to everyone, wrote official statements, gathered the parent committee in August, met with everyone, but there is no result, nothing is being done. In groups, everything is the same, if you need to paint something – they wrote out paint, bought a kindergarten, but there is no one to do it, and the parents again collect money, paint at their own expense. The roof is leaking, the windows are terrible, everyone knows about it, but nothing changes.

The collapsed roof of the building is leaking.

I say, let’s go to Rostov, to Moscow, because the children are small, it’s impossible. Of course, I want to take my child to a warm, good, comfortable kindergarten, to know that nothing will fall on his head, that he is not cold. This is a painful problem, – burst into tears, said the young mother Veronika Stolyar.

Funding is weak, the kindergarten – as if forgotten by God, the young mother could not hold back her tears, telling about the conditions in which the kids are, and wondering why the village kindergarten is so objectionable to the district leadership. – Thank God, says Veronika Stolyar, although the problem with hot water was somehow solved, otherwise it didn’t happen.

As it turned out, there was no hot water supply in the kindergarten for several years, but the district did not have the funds for this at that time either. There was no hot water from 2008 to 2013. The fact is that initially the building was connected to central heating, and in 2008 both heating and hot water supply from CHPP-2 were removed, because gas was installed, and the residents of the village began to use their gas water heaters individually. The kindergarten was connected to gas, but for some reason the facility was left without hot water. At that time, Viktor Soldatov was once the head of the village.

– Then I found out that for several years the children had no water in the garden. In general, I did not even expect that they could treat a socially significant object so negligently. We then resolved this issue. They found a sponsor because they could not officially take money from the settlement’s budget. We found a sponsor among our entrepreneurs, we bought water heaters for the kindergarten, and installed them on our own. And since then there is hot water in the garden. The issue is resolved very quickly, if you want to solve it, – Viktor Soldatov is sure.

How to take a child to a kindergarten or school, when they are not sure of safety, the locals do not know, but they continue to drive. There are still no other options in the village, and it is inconvenient and far to carry to the city. Every day they anxiously send their children and grandchildren to a dilapidated building, experiencing real bitterness from the fact that it is impossible to influence the situation.

We want our children and grandchildren to be safe. Just security, I’m not talking about comfort, but where there is comfort, there is security, in fact. Well, scary, just scary! I looked at those steps and imagined if I climbed up there and jumped, then they would definitely slam me from above. And these are children! And if we have money in the state or in our region – this somehow worries me a little. I find money for my house. And I don’t ask anyone. Why should we stand with outstretched hands near the district? What are we, parasites? And who are our children? Simply and offensively, frankly, and ashamed. The staff here is very good, the girls are generally great, you have not been inside there, there are such awesome crafts, the girls have golden hands, they treat children well. Here I have no complaints about the girls, well done. My granddaughter went, no complaints against them. But they can’t fix it all. And if something goes wrong here, who will be responsible? Babysitters with caregivers? Or are we? And then they will say: “Why were you silent? Why couldn’t you tell?” So I’m talking, – Tatyana Eremenko, a resident of the village, said in an interview with Bloknot.

Due to unbearable conditions and the outflow of pupils, only 2 age groups remained in the kindergarten. Within the walls of the same building, primary school students (grades 1-3) are engaged. It is convenient for the locals to take their children to a kindergarten near their home, and there are no complaints about the teachers, and the place is picturesque, but the more time passes, the worse the state of the garden, and the less it is in demand. Those who remain are already determined to ring all the bells. The building requires major repairs, and at the district level everyone has known this for a long time, but no actions are being taken in this direction.

– Here, as if there is a place, and there is a room, and everything is there, but people are transferring these children to the city, because it’s scary. But they are also uncomfortable: in the morning they take us, then bring them, and all because of the state of the kindergarten, but no one hears us. We took out a mortgage, bought a house here so that the child could live in the fresh air, and we are forced to go here, we need to take the child to kindergarten, – says young mother Veronika Stolyar.

Ahead of the cold, another winter, whether the kindergarten will stand for the next season, and what it will be like for the children, is a big question. It is necessary to repair urgently, the building is about to begin to collapse, local residents believe, and one “cosmetics” at the parental expense is not enough here.

– If you consider yourself the owner, I mean the area, then you need to treat yourself in a businesslike way. It is very easy to ruin it, it’s like our state was destroyed, and now we are collecting it, and it is very difficult. Therefore, if you did it on time, invested some funds, then this is for a long time. It is much more expensive than bringing it to a state of “zero”, and then restoring or building a new one. Therefore, the wishes for the administration of our district are to treat the objects of the entire district in a businesslike way, but, in particular, not to forget us, – said Viktor Soldatov, deputy of the assembly of deputies of the Dobrovolsky rural settlement.
