The classroom follows a schedule every day. The daily routine helps the children feel more comfortable at school because they know what to expect. We are more than happy to encourage potty training as long as the child is ready. Please feel free to come and go at any time throughout the day to visit your child. We provide nutritious, balanced meals following the guidelines of the USDA for children. We provide breakfast, lunch and snack daily. Parents of children 15 months and younger are required to complete an infant feeding schedule form as well as provide formula already prepared. All bottles and tops must be labeled with child’s name and date. All children are supervised at all times by staff members and there is a supervisor or designee at all times as well. Both with appropriate training to care for your child. (CPR, First Aid, SIDS and others). All staff has a medical statement, references and mandatory criminal history check report on file. Daytime and overnight, seven days – open (24/7). Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we

We cannot say enough good things about our time at KIN. Our twins attended KIN from ages 3-5. During their time at KIN we saw them both develop a love of learning! Each day was filled with plenty of outside time and opportunities for play and creativity. The highly trained staff has become like family and our KIN friends remain some of our very best friends to this day. Parents have many choices for childcare in our local community. I cannot think of a more nurturing and safe environment than KIN.

KIN has been around for many years and was actually recommended to our family by a close family friend whose son attended years ago. The KIN community, from the kids, to the teachers, to the other parents, has been fabulous for our son and our family! We have all developed a new circle of friends. The staff is very dedicated and caring and goes above and beyond to focus on what the kids need. We will be enrolling our infant at KIN, too soon because of the positive experience we have had with our son.

Between my 2 kids, we have experienced four daycares other than KIN. After starting at KIN with my son (now aged almost three), I can honestly say that I wish we had been there all along with both kids. Within a few months, I have seen my son absolutely blossom. On top of that, I love the open communication style at KIN where I never feel like I am bothering the administration or his teachers with questions about his progress or, simply, about his day! I love that he spends time with kids his own age but other ages. KIN is truly an exceptional learning environment and positive environment for him to become the funny, goofy, but thoughtful kid he is. Now, if I could only feel less guilty than his older sister didn’t go…

KIN, too has been our daughter’s second home since she was 5 months old. She is excited to go in the gate each morning and comes home exhausted and happy from a day of activities with friends. Knowing she is safe, cared for, and encouraged to be a curious, playful kid is what’s most important. But a staff that can help a toddler learn to turn frustrated screaming to a request for “help, please” is a parent’s dream.

KIN, too has been an excellent fit for our family. The low ratio has allowed our daughter to become close to many of the teachers and children and it’s great to be part of a childcare center where I know all of the children by name, as well as their parents. I love that the kids get to spend plenty of time playing outdoors and getting messy, working on art projects, or having a dance party. Even better, my daughter is excited about going to school and I know that she’s getting truly high quality care from teachers who know and care about her.

We have been a part of the KIN family for almost six years, with all three of our children attending both KIN and KIN, too. We keep coming back because we know that when our kids are at KIN they are being cared for by family. The staff treats the kids as their own, and provides excellent care. My kids spend their days reading books, listening to music, doing crazy fun art projects and come home happy and sometimes covered in mud from a day of puddle fun. They are also cuddled and snuggled as needed with very low teacher/kid ratio. The fact that we have sent all three of our kids there speaks volumes to the trust we have in KIN.

Both of my daughters attended KIN and I could not be more pleased with the level of care and attention they received. From a social point of view, my girls were close to polar opposites. My oldest was very outgoing, loved to be the center of attention, and never met a stranger. On the other hand, my youngest was very shy and didn’t want to draw any attention at all. The teachers at KIN cared for them as individuals rather than as “typical” children of a specific age. It was amazing to see them both flourish — one encouraged to be the star that she is, and the other nurtured just enough to come out of her shell. I cannot say a single negative thing about KIN or its teachers other than there simply is not enough of them in the world. I am proud to call myself a KIN Parent!

Our son has been at KIN, too for nearly two years, beginning when he was just three months old. We love the close relationships he’s formed with KIN’s wonderful teachers and the personalized attention he gets as a result. As our son has grown and his needs have changed, KIN’s staff have shown incredible flexibility, openness, and initiative in finding new ways to challenge and encourage him. KIN gets the balance of free play and structured curriculum just right. We are so impressed with the skills, vocabulary, and love of learning our son has already developed by reading, singing, creating, playing, snacking, snoozing, etc. at KIN each day. We also love KIN’s community ethic and have enjoyed meeting other families who feel the same way and watching our son form friendships that we hope will last a lifetime. In terms of its standard of care and personal dedication of its staff, KIN is one of a kind.

The state of North Carolina has several exquisite gardens that are open to walking, relaxing and enjoying nature from the coastal region, through the Piedmont, all the way to the west coast. So, why visit just one? When you tour it and visit all the most beautiful gardens in North Carolina.

First established as a private garden for the Pembroke-Jones family in 1886, it was later purchased by the Corbett family in the 1940s, who occasionally opened it to the public, especially in the spring to view azaleas in bloom. Devastated by natural disasters and vandalism, New Hanover County purchased the land in 1998 and turned it into a historical square. Now visitors from all over the country come to see the beautiful flowers, large oak trees, winding paths and contemporary sculptures that are popping up throughout the garden. During the summer season (May to October), you can also visit the Tranquility Garden, which houses the Gardens’ 2,700-square-foot butterfly house. There you can see hundreds of butterflies flying freely inside the building in the open air, and if you come on a Tuesday afternoon from June to August, you can just see some of them being released into nature.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, located on the lakefront in the city of Belmont, covers a huge 380 acres and includes a dozen large professionally maintained gardens, fountains, nature trails and a conservatory, dedicated to orchids and tropical plants. It’s also the only glass home in the Carolinas that measures 8,000 square feet and is under five stories high. Also on site is the Garden Store, a quirky gift shop with a variety of merchandise including home furnishings, books, bath accessories, jewelry, pottery and art, and Wine Nook, where you can buy a glass or bottle of wine to enjoy while the time of your visit to the gardens.

The aptly named North Carolina Botanical Garden is operated and located on the University of North Carolina campus at Chapel Hill. Originally created in 1903 by Professor William Cocker, the garden has grown significantly over the years and currently covers over 700 acres. About 2,500 different species of Carolina native plants are represented in the garden’s fourteen collections. In fact, it has become one of the largest botanical gardens native plants in the southeastern United States. Among the many things to see here are the Carnivorous Plant Collection, the Horticultural Therapy Demonstration Garden, which was designed for people with disabilities, the Mountain Habitats Garden. which includes plants that are commonly grown in the Appalachians and native water gardens that display aquatic plants that are native to the southeast.

Reynold’s Gardens, located in Winston-Salem, was originally part of a vast estate owned by tobacco king R. J. Reynolds and his wife in the early 1900s. After both passed away, their daughter, Mary Reynolds Babcock, donated the property to Wake Forest College and established the Reynold Gardens. The gardens have since been remodeled and restored to their original design and now consist of 125 acres of woodland and wetlands, plus four acres of official gardens with themed gardens, rose gardens, fountains, pergolas, vegetables, fruit trees. and a greenhouse. The gardens also adjoin the former Reynolds House, which now houses the Reynolds House Museum of American Art.

North Carolina State History

Originally inhabited by many Indian tribes, including the Cherokee, North Carolina was the first American territory that the British attempted to colonize. The famous English courtier, adventurer and poet Sir Walter Raleigh (Raleigh), after whom the state capital is named, founded two colonies on the coast of present-day North Carolina (then considered part of Virginia) in the late 1580s, but both attempts were unsuccessful. The disappearance of one of them, the “Lost Colony” on Roanoke Island, remains one of the biggest mysteries in American history. The name “Carolina” appeared in the second quarter of the 17th century in honor of the King of England and Scotland, Charles I (lat. Carolus). Between the American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War, North Carolina moved to establish state and local governments. In 1840, the construction of the state building of the Capitol in Raleigh was completed, where it is still located.

In the middle of the century, rural and commercial areas of the state became more connected with the construction of a 129-mile (208-kilometer) wooden road made mainly of plank, known as the “farmer’s railroad,” from Fayetteville in the east to Bethania (northwest of Winston -Salem).

In 1860, North Carolina was a slave state with a population of just under 1 million. Approximately one third of the population were slaves. There were also approximately 30,000 free blacks living in the state. Somewhat divided over whether to support the North or the South in the Civil War, North Carolina was the last state to secede from the Union in 1861.

Governor Ellis, head of state at the start of the war in 1861, in response to President Lincoln’s call for 75,000 troops to put down the “rebellion,” replied, “You cannot get any troops from North Carolina.” However, under his leadership and later under his successor, Governor Zebalon Baird Vance Ashville, elected in 1862, the state did indeed contribute 125,000 troops to the Confederacy (Southern States), more than any other state in the South.

There were no major battles directly in North Carolina itself. All the troops of this state basically fought in all the major battles in northern Virginia. The biggest battle that took place in North Carolina was in Bentonville. It was a futile attempt by Confederate General Joseph Johnston to slow Union General Sherman’s advance into the Carolinas in the spring of 1865. General Johnston surrendered near Duram along with one of the largest Confederate armies in late April 1865. This happened a few weeks after General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox. North Carolina’s final surrender came at Waynesville in Western North Carolina in May, when the remnants of Thomas’ Cherokee Legion laid down their arms.

In the 20th century, North Carolina became a leader in agriculture and industry. The state’s industrial output—mainly textiles, chemicals, electrical equipment, paper, and paper products—ranked eighth in the nation in the early 1990s. Tobacco, one of North Carolina’s earliest sources of income, remains vital to the local economy. More recently, technology has become a driving force in the state, especially with the creation of the Research Triangle between Raleigh and Duram in the early 1950s.
