New Attendance Boundaries (Begin 2024-25 School Year)
In March 2022, the School Board approved changes to student attendance boundaries as part of the District’s new Student Assignment Plan. Students are assigned to a school based on where they live.
Boundary changes are necessary to accommodate students who will be assigned to attend the new school to be built in Evanston’s 5th Ward and also to reduce transportation needs across the District. The Student Assignment Planning (SAP) Committee extensively looked at different scenarios for boundary considerations during the 21-22 year. This included consideration of student enrollment projections, building capacities, and most importantly maintaining neighborhood schools throughout the district.
The new attendance boundaries are all within approximately one mile of students’ homes.
Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, all newly enrolled students will be assigned to their school based on the newly approved attendance boundaries. To support the transition and minimize disruption, current students may remain in their school beyond the 2024-2025 school year. However, there will be no transportation provided by the District. In addition, while elementary students may remain in their current school through fifth grade, they must attend their newly assigned middle school beginning in sixth grade.
There is no change to the middle school feeder pattern.
Interactive Google Maps have been created to show current and future elementary and middle school attendance area boundaries.
Maps are intended for planning purposes only. Boundaries are subject to change.

Rockford, USA – travel on the map Located in Winnebago County, in the northwestern part of the state, near the border with the state of Wisconsin.
History
In 1834-1835 from Galena (English) Russian. the first settlers arrived in the person of Germanicus Kent, Thatcher Blake and Lewis Lemon, who settled on the west bank of the Rock River, as well as Daniel Shaw Haight, who founded a settlement on the east bank. The community was located in the middle between Galena and Chicago, and at first was known as “Midway”, but soon the name “Rockford” stuck to it, in connection with the ford located here (eng. ford ). A post office opened in 1837. In 1839, the settlement received the status of a village, and in 1852 it was registered with the status of a city. From 1840, the first weekly newspaper began to be published, and in 1877 a commercially successful daily newspaper appeared. In 1847, the Rockford Female Seminary was founded, which in 1892 became Rockford College (English) Russian, and since 1958 co-education has been introduced here. The most famous graduate of the college is Jane Addams (1881), founder of Hull House (English) Russian. in Chicago and Nobel Peace Prize winner (19thirty). Rockford Public Library, which opened its doors in August 1872, became the second in the state of Illinois.
Today, Rockford is the county seat of Winnebago County, but until the 1850s it was a small, unremarkable village. However, the Rockford Water Power Company formed in 1851 and the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad reaching Rockford in 1852 made the settlement a town. By 1860, Rockford had become a significant, fast-growing industrial center, famous for the manufacture of agricultural implements. By 1880, furniture industry enterprises appeared here, where the labor of Swedish craftsmen was actively used, and in the first half of the 20th century, Rockford became the second largest furniture manufacturer in the United States. After the First World War, the production of agricultural machinery fell into decline, and during the Great Depression and the Second World War, this fate befell the furniture industry. By the end of 19In the 1960s, both industries finally disappeared. In the 20th century, the industry of the city was represented by the branches of machine tool building, heavy engineering, automotive and aerospace, as well as the production of packaging.
Modern Downtown Rockford
The first settlers were primarily from New York State and New England. In the 1850s, immigrants of Irish origin and a few Swedish immigrants arrived here. After the civil war, Swedes arrived in large numbers and soon became the dominant ethnic group. The Swedish language was spoken here as well as English, up to 1920s. After 1880, Italians appeared in Rockford, after 1900 – Poles and Lithuanians, after 1970 – Laotians, Vietnamese and Hispanics. One of the founders of the city, Lewis Lemon, was an African American (a slave who bought his freedom), but the black population was very small until the First World War, after which they began to arrive from the southern states, in particular from Arkansas and Mississippi.
During the six years after the Civil War, Rockford was well known in baseball circles for the Forest City baseball team. Moreover, this name became so popular that it was fixed outside the city as a pseudonym. nine0003
In the first half of the 20th century, Rockford was also an important military town. In 1917, Camp Grant was opened here for the training of soldiers, in 1921 he suspended work, and in 1924 was transferred to the state of Illinois as a permanent training center for the National Guard. In 1940, the camp became a US Army base and served as a recruiting center and later as a training center for corpsmen. In 1943-1946, German prisoners of war were kept here, a little over 2,000 people. In 1946, Camp Grant was closed, and its territory was divided by Rockford International Airport and Seth Edwood Park. nine0003
In the last decades of the 20th century, Rockford experienced a decline in industry, the need for urgent reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, and severe unemployment. In 1989, an initiative group of concerned citizens launched a campaign to end segregation and racial discrimination in the state’s school system. Other notable events during this period included the founding of Rock Valley Community College, the establishment of the Rockford Medical College at the University of Illinois, the construction of a community center, and the opening of important regional financial, healthcare, and entertainment centers in the city. nine0003
Geography
According to the US Census Bureau, the total area of the city is 158.2 km² (61.08 mi²), of which 155.95 km² (60.21 mi²) is land and 2.25 km² (0.87 mi² ) of the water surface.
The Rock River flows through the city.

TRANSPORT
The US has a well-developed network of ground and air transport. In large cities, you can travel both by bus and by metro, which will significantly speed up the movement from one end of the city to the other. If subway platforms are usually not very attractive, then the cars are quite comfortable. In city buses, fare is paid directly to the driver, while it is not customary to ask for change, so it is better to stock up on change in advance. Bus service is well developed not only in cities, but also between them. Each city has bus stations from which you can travel from one city to another on a comfortable modern bus. Bus tickets are best purchased in advance. nine0003
In the cities it is also very convenient to travel by taxi, which can be ordered by phone, called from the hotel or stopped on the street with a thumbs up.
Of course, the most common form of transportation in the country is a car. Roads in the USA are of excellent quality, gasoline is not expensive. In order to rent a car, you must have a driver’s license and be over 21 (sometimes over 25). Quite high fines are provided for violation of traffic rules, and some violations can lead to deprivation of rights. The most serious violations include: speeding, the presence of open bottles of alcoholic beverages in the car. The driver is also required to give way to pedestrians at controlled crossings. nine0003
Hitchhiking is not recommended in the US due to the high accident rate on the roads. Of course, the fastest way to travel between cities is by plane. Ticket prices vary depending on distance and class of service. In the US, there is an electronic form of tickets. All American airlines are non-smoking.
Border control and customs regulations
To cross the border, you must have a foreign passport with a valid visa and a completed customs declaration (issued on an airplane/ship or directly at the border crossing point). Detailed instructions and comments on filling out the declaration can be found on the US Customs and Border Protection website. nine0003
Every foreign citizen entering the United States is entitled to duty-free entry of 200 cigarettes (1 block) or 50 cigars, not more than 1 liter of liquor (for persons over 21), personal effects and household items. Gold items and diamonds are subject to declaration. It is forbidden to import any “pirated” (counterfeit) products, drugs, dangerous medicines, any food products. Without a declaration, the export of 10,000 US dollars from Russia is allowed. It is allowed to import into the United States without a declaration up to 10,000 US dollars. If an amount of more than 10,000 US dollars is imported or exported, then it must be indicated in the declaration. This rule also applies to travelers checks. From the islands of Hawaii, you can export goods worth up to $ 300 duty-free. nine0003
FLIGHT
If your flight to the USA has a connection in one of the American ports, you need to go through passport and customs control in this city. After passing through passport control, you must collect your luggage and check it in again at the check-in point for a transit flight. OTHERWISE YOUR BAGGAGE WILL BE LOST. This rule applies to all connecting flight options, even if they are operated by the same airline.
On board the aircraft, you will be given an immigration card (forms I-9) to complete.4), in which it is necessary to indicate the name and address of the hotel (the first of the planned ones), the dates and purpose of the visit. When crossing the border, the immigration officer will set the period of your permitted stay in the United States. This voucher must be kept with your passport for the remainder of your stay and returned upon departure from the United States.
Porter service is available at the US airport. The cost of each piece of luggage is $ 1-2.
The cost of the transfer, if ordered by you, includes 40 minutes of waiting at the airport after the arrival of the aircraft. If you are late, you must pay the driver an additional waiting time at the rate of $ 45 for each hour of waiting. nine0003
Air flight from Moscow takes approximately:
New York – 9 hours
Miami – 11 a. m.
San Francisco / Los Angeles – 13 hours.
Domestic flights:
New York – Miami (or Orlando) – 2.5 hours
New York – Los Angeles (or Las Vegas) – 4.5 hours
Los Angeles – Las Vegas – 1 hour
San Francisco (Los Angeles) – Hawaii – 4.5 hours.
Baggage on international flights: in addition to carry-on baggage (its volume should not exceed what can fit under the seat), as a rule, you are allowed to carry 20 kg of baggage free of charge if you are flying in tourist class (ECONOMY CLASS) or 30 kg if in first (FIRST CLASS). Food and drinks served by flight attendants are included in the ticket price of any airline. nine0003
Baggage on domestic flights within the United States is generally carried for an additional fee in Economy Class, and free of charge in First and Business Class. The cost of the first piece of baggage is about 25 US dollars. Be sure to check the baggage allowance conditions with your manager: they depend on the airline and class of service.

CHECK-IN FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS IN THE USA
- At self-check-in kiosks, passengers choose a seat in the cabin and indicate the number of pieces of checked baggage.
- The kiosk shows you how much to pay for luggage. Priority card payment. If passengers only have cash, they need to go to the check-in desk.
- The kiosk prints boarding passes and baggage checks. Customers themselves stick baggage receipts on the handles of suitcases and go to the “Drop off point” counter. nine0038
- Airline employees check the weight and dimensions of luggage. If everything corresponds to the norm, the luggage is accepted, the tag is stuck on the boarding pass, the passengers go further to the departure area.
- The check-in procedure may differ depending on the airline.
HOTEL
- Check-out time at the hotel – 15 – 16 hours of the day. If you arrive earlier, you will only be able to check in if rooms are available. In any case, you can leave things in the storage room. nine0038
- Check-out time from the hotel is 12 noon. If your flight is later, you must check out and leave your luggage at the hotel’s storage room.
- Most hotels in the United States of America do not allow people under the age of 21 to enter unaccompanied persons over the age of 21.
- The American Standard for hotel accommodation generally does not include meals. At the request of customers, it is possible to book breakfasts separately, but not all hotels offer this service
- When using electrical appliances, be aware that the mains voltage is 110 volts. Your electrical appliances must have a switch, or be sure to use adapters.
- Each hotel, depending on the class, has safes located either in the room or at the reception desk. Please do not leave documents and valuables in the room without placing them in the safe.
- Upon check-in at the hotel, you will need to provide a credit card to guarantee payment for additional hotel services. The average deposit amount is $100 per day, in 5*** category hotels the deposit amount can exceed $300 per day. Upon check-in, this amount will be blocked on your card. At check-out, you pay the hotel bill and the deposit is fully refundable. Based on the practice of Russian banks, this amount will be unlocked only after 30 days!!!! Please take this into account when planning your trip! nine0038
- If you want to make a phone call from your room, you must leave a deposit to the hotel administrator to connect your phone. The average deposit amount is $100
- Calls within America: 1 + area code + phone number. International calls: 011 + country code + area code + phone number
- In order not to get lost, we recommend that you always have a business card of the hotel where you are staying with you. A business card can be taken at the reception desk. nine0038
- Most hotels have an automated messaging system. If someone called you and left a message, the light on your phone will flash. In order to listen to the message, you need to pick up the handset and dial the key combination indicated on the device. If there are messages, the machine will announce the time of the call and play the recording.
BED TYPES
The size of the beds is indicative and may vary by a few centimeters in different hotels. nine0003
Main types of beds (mattresses):
- Single or Twin – single bed, mattress size 96 x 190 cm;
- Double or Full – narrow double bed, mattress size 135 x 190 cm;
- Queen – double bed, mattress size 152 x 190 cm;
- King – the largest double bed, mattress size 193 x 202 cm;
- California or California King – extended double bed, mattress size 183 x 212 cm;
Extra beds:
- Extra Bed (rollaway bed) – an extra bed (usually a folding bed with a mattress), in most cases used to accommodate a third adult or child in a room with one bed.
- Pull-out sofa – a pull-out sofa can be used instead of an extra bed, if provided in the room. nine0038
- Children’s bed (Crib) – for small children a 60 x 120 cm crib (crib) can be placed in the room. By default, two people share one bed.
With an extra bed, if possible, these rooms can accommodate 3 people.
Rooms with a pull out sofa can also accommodate 3 people or, less commonly, 2 adults and 2 children. nine0059
Accommodation of the third (and/or fourth) person in the room on an extra bed or on an existing sofa bed is charged separately. The cost of installing an extra bed can be either included in the cost of placing the third (fourth) person, or highlighted as a separate item. Sometimes a baby cot in the room is paid separately.
The cost of a DBL room is usually the same as the cost of an SGL room – the cost of single occupancy in any type of room is usually equal to the cost of double occupancy (excluding meals and possible additional services). nine0059
The exact cost of accommodation, taking into account all the features and nuances, must be clarified before booking. The conditions and cost of different types of accommodation in different hotels can vary greatly.Rooms with two beds
Two Twin – rooms with two single beds of twin size. Assume double occupancy on two separate beds.
The name Twin Room may indicate that the room has 2 separate beds of any size. The number of people that can be accommodated in a room, in this case, must be specified based on the types of beds and accommodation conditions offered by the hotel. nine0059
Double Double (Two Double) are rooms equipped with two Double beds. Typically, these rooms can accommodate up to four people.
Two Queen (Double Queen) are rooms with two queen size beds, also for a maximum of four people.
The basic cost of these rooms assumes double occupancy. Additional payments are provided for each additional (third and fourth) person in the room.
Free placement of a child in a room with two adults using existing beds usually requires booking these rooms with two double beds. nine0059
Extra beds are usually not available in rooms with two beds. In suites, it is sometimes possible to use a sofa bed in the living room (if provided).
The equipment and size of rooms with one King (or Queen) bed, as a rule, completely coincides with the size and equipment of similar Double Double (or Two Queen) rooms. The possibility of accommodating four adults in such a room does not, in most cases, imply any additional space in the rooms for suitcases and personal belongings. Please pay attention to the size of the room and its description. nine0003US RECOMMENDED TIP Amount:
Tipping is expected at all lunch bars and for all small services at airports, hotels, etc. On average, tips are 15% of the amount paid. Tips are not automatically included in the bill, they are usually left on the table, especially if they are calculated at the cash desk.
Suggested tip in the US:
- Restaurant: Waiter – 15% – 20% of the total order
- At the hotel: porter – $1 – $2 per bag, porter – $1 per taxi call
- In the casino: to the dealer and the staff of the gaming table – the standard reward is a small bet
- In a restaurant, for rooms without a reserved seat, a tip of $5 – $20 to the headwaiter will secure the desired table
- In a taxi: 15 – 20% of the total bill
- It is customary for the guide to leave $1 – $2 per person
