Perfect for the family!

We visited the Botanical Gardens on a recent trip to San Antonio. We went the first week of February knowing there wouldn’t be much bloom. We were, however, pleasantly surprised by our walk. The areas that are zoned in the greenhouses, so to speak, were really interesting. For example, one was palm trees, another tropical, another more arid with cacti, etc. The area is beautiful and the walk through the Texas plantings and soil types was very interesting. They even had historical structures to help understand what kind of life and plantings would have been visible at that time. nine0049 Even though we didn’t have grandchildren, we walked through the child discovery area, which was wonderful. I can see this as a great day out with the kids to enjoy the walkways and activity areas.
We really enjoyed our visit and look forward to our next visit on our spring trip to San Antonio.

Great place to spend some quiet time

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a great place to visit and explore for any gardener. The garden hosts a history lesson on the Texas Native Trail that looks at major Texas landscapes; meadows, pine forests and shrubs. These ecosystems provide homesteads and information about how people lived during the period. There are cactus gardens, tropical gardens, fruit trees and a rose garden. Lots of trails from groomed to rough, dense trails. One of the highlights was the giant insects and spider replicas throughout; some are easy to see, some are almost invisible. A small part of the gardens was closed due to the relocation of the territory. It would be easy to spend 1/2 day there, but two to three hours gives enough time to fix the gardening. Worth the time for any gardener. nine0003
