Overall moving our daughter out of this school to a nearby charter school was the best decision.

MY children do not have any learning disabilities so I do not know how to grade that, but the teachers are amazing, patient, kind, very optimistic and they definantely care about the students. I love the PTA and all their activities. Just everything about the school. Thank you HHE

Very happy, my son just graduated from 5th grade. The teachers and the personnel are great. I feel my kid is really prepare for 6th grade, not only academically. It was a great experience for both us. They really made the kids feel special in their last year at Elementary. Thanks!

Both of my daughters attend here and I am very well pleased with this school. The only disappointment is that there are no good schools in the Hollywood Hills area once they leave Hollywood Hills Elementary. I really wish this school offered up through Middle. The teachers are fantastic and the new principal is very involved. Will hate that this is my oldest daughters’ last year here. Someone please address the school issue for the Hollywood Hills area!!!!!

This is an excellent, well run school. Teachers are determined to make sure students learn. They receive constant training in new methods to teach better. Both my kids went there for elementary school. I highly recommend it.

I can only speak through my experience. Both of my sons have attended this school since K. My older one is in his 5th year and is ESE/Gifted, meaning he has an IEP and accomodations. In other words, he has a learning disability. I have to say that the school has done everything they can to accomodate my son. They have done a great job communicating with me throughout the years, and all of his teachers have been wonderful. Not only do his teachers care, but all of the teachers and faculty know him and care about him and lookout for his safety, which is extremely important to me. They have many extra curricular activities, such as Debate, Chorus, Drum club, STEM, etc. My other son loves DE as well and I highly recommend this school.

Overall a good school, with a lot of resources available, but some teachers need to learn how to pronounce words properly, like the word ask. I’d think that if you’re a teacher you’d want to teach kids and make sure they are well spoken, not encourage them to speak half-a$$. Even those teachers who do know how to pronounce words properly don’t correct children who mispronounce. From what I heard this wouldn’t be happening with the old principle, the one before ms. Itty took over.

The administration is the worst! They stress less communication between parents and teachers. I have been very lucky that my child had an amazing teacher who kept me in the loop about my childs progress. The Principal is hardly ever around. The Vice Principal is not friendly and professional. Ive witnessed her yelling at teachers in front of other parents. There seems to be a trend, the good teachers leaving and new faces arriving every school year. That definitely is a bad sign letting you know that something is not right!!!! The one person who truly makes a difference at this school is Mrs. Hariott. She is the guidance counselor and a compassionate person who takes her time to make herself available for you and your child. There are a few others like her in this school, hopefully they dont leave.

How to send a child to school in LA

How to send a child to school

Where to go, where to go if you flew with children, and they should be taken somewhere to learn the mind.

When choosing an apartment or house (for rent or for purchase), first look at which schools the children can go to if they live in that particular place.

There are a number of websites that will help you find housing for yourself, both for rent and for ownership. For example, Trulia.com, Zillow.com, Homes.com and others. nine0003

What is most important in your case (since
you have children and they need to go to kindergarten or school) is what educational institution they will go to, if you live in the apartment or house that you have chosen “by photographs on the Internet” (or by price).

The fact is that in the USA the cost of housing can differ significantly even when the apartments are located across the street: it’s just that the apartment on this side of the street is assigned to school X with a rating of 10/10, and the apartment on the other side belongs to a much weaker institution – with a rating of 5/10 or 3/10. nine0003

At the same time, “that” apartment can be many times cooler in terms of interior: there you will have a fresh renovation, a spacious living room and kitchen, and all the blessings in the world. And “this one” is closer and more modest. And all the same, it is tight, more expensive! Why? Because children are your future, and it is customary to think about them here in the first place, and for this reason, excellent schools are worth their weight in gold.

Do exactly the same as Americans when choosing: include the parameter “great school” in your scale of values when evaluating an apartment. nine0011

On the left – a screenshot of the www. Trulia.com map showing schools. I chose the city of Irvine (California) an hour from Los Angeles, because. here are some of the best schools in America.

If you hover over the apple icons on this site, you will see that almost ALL schools in the city are rated 10 out of 10! Unique situation.

But you can’t buy cheap houses and apartments here: the most affordable option is $480,000. And if it still didn’t go well with a mortgage, then without it, newcomers cannot afford this housing. nine0003

Property prices are displayed in green. Black apples – schools. The green lines are the boundaries of the city, and the green filled field near the price “$480k” is the area of home to the selected school – Brywood Elementary.

By clicking on the school icons, you can see the home area of the school, and by clicking on the prices, you can see what the houses for sale look like.

Remember that even if you move to the US in the middle of the school year, the school at your “registration” address is required to take the child, and will teach him free .

For example, let’s assume that you clicked on the price of $480k. You will see something like this output of the page of the apartment for sale (or rent, if during the search you indicated that you are looking for an apartment for rent, and not for the purpose of buying).

Right-bottom there is a square SCHOOLS field with a map with black dots. This is a way to find out exactly which schools are around a particular house/apartment, and which ones you will be assigned to if you can buy (rent) this property. nine0003

To view the list of schools, click on the right-bottom map.

And you’ve landed on a map showing all the schools in the area.

At the moment, Elementary (elementary) schools are displayed on it. But you can choose Middle and High School.

From the drop-down menu under the word Elementary, select the ASSIGNED option: this will leave in the list below only the school (or schools) that you, living at this address, will definitely get into without competition or any problems.

If you have already done all this and successfully rented (or even bought) an apartment, and even moved into it, you just have to come to the school itself and take a set of documents to enroll your child in it.

What documents are needed for enrollment?

Copy of birth certificate with translation

Americans can hardly read Russian, so it’s best to have a translation of your child’s birth certificate. Well, a copy of the original.

Documentation of immunization

You had a health check before you got your immigrant visa, and if your child missed any vaccinations, you should have had them. Show the immunization sheet given to you – let them make sure that it is not your child who is to blame for the plague and rubella epidemic at school.

Some schools do not accept the immunization form as issued by the IOM. But in this case, you will need to go to the Immunization Center, the address of which will be given at the school itself, so that you will be given the so-called YELLOW CARD (yellow card). In essence, the doctor stupidly enters all the vaccinations from the IOM form (physician for visa) into his form and prints it for you. And you already give this Yellow Card to the school for photocopying (you keep the original). nine0003

If you are enrolling your child in kindergarten or first grade, you also need a paper from the dentist: Oral Assessment Form. But you have the right to refuse to fill it out (see an example below).

Completed documents for admission

A huge stack of waste paper in English. Issued directly at the school upon first request. Filled easily and simply (though long). How exactly – we will show below.

Proof of residence in the school district

Documentation showing that you live at one of the addresses that the school is assigned to. Ideally, a contract for the sale of an apartment / house. nine0011 More common: lease agreement + any bill that has your name on it (for example, for electricity, internet, water, etc. )

This is because there are a lot of cunning people trying to get into schools with a rating of 10 /10 without living in their area. To do this, some even pool their rent an apartment for a bunch of families. When this is revealed, a scandal begins and your child flies out of school in disgrace. In general, if you really live near this coolest educational institution, prove with papers that you are required to enroll. nine0011

Student Progress Report (P.A.R.) at another US school

If you are transferring from another US school, take the P.A.R. (Pupil Accounting Report). You will easily be given it: just attach it to a pack of other documents. Come in handy.

List of necessary vaccinations and examinations
for kindergarten and new students of the school.
Nothing to fill out – just make sure you’ve done everything.

Simple requirements:

– the results of the examination at the dentist.

– Polio vaccine (4 or more doses, but 3 (three) is sufficient if at least one given after the 4th birthday.

– DTP (5 doses at any age)

– Mumps, Rubella and measles (2 doses for Kindergarten, each to be given on or after birthday)

– Hepatitis B vaccine – 3 doses

– Had or had been vaccinated against chickenpox

Oral Health Assessment Form nine0086
This is a check-up at the dentist: is needed only by first-graders and those going to kindergarten.

If everything is in order with your child’s teeth, you don’t have dental health insurance, and you don’t want to spend money on a dentist, just refuse this examination.

The form is absolutely standard: on top – the child’s full name, address, parent’s name, then a block to be filled in directly by the doctor.

But the third part is just the most interesting for you, if you do not want to spend money on a dentist and there is no need: most sane parents treat their children’s teeth regularly, and their condition is satisfactory or even excellent. nine0003

Therefore, to avoid costs, you can check the box, for example, the box “I cannot afford an oral health assessment for my child” or the even more restrictive box “I do not wish my child to receive an oral health assessment.” And that’s it.

Medical/health history
(all schools don’t like surprises).
This is a double-sided card. Move the cursor over the pictures and study the filling. nine0088

Of course, fill in everything as per your child.

So, if you have only one child, put zeros in the “Brothers”, “Sisters” fields. If your child has ever been hospitalized in the middle of the night – answer “yes” and describe the reason below.
If the son/daughter is taking any medication, check the Yes box in the question “Is child on medication?” and write down the name of the drug, dosage and frequency of administration during the day.

Do not lie when answering questions for fear that the child will not be accepted to school: all educational institutions in the United States are ready to work with children with a variety of problems. It’s just that management needs to understand exactly what, how and when they need to do exactly with your child. nine0086

On the right half of the sheet there is a list of what the child has been ill with, what could have been vaccinated against, or what may be ill now. Please answer “yes” or “no” accordingly and describe any details below that you think are relevant.

The reverse side of the card requires you to describe life in detail right from the moment of pregnancy. Whether to answer in such detail – decide for yourself.

To be honest, it is not very clear why the school needs so much information – provided that the child is healthy. nine0003

It is clear that, if the child has serious abnormalities or congenital diseases, it is all necessary that any paramedics who may suddenly be called if the child has a seizure have complete information about the heredity or origin of the disease. But in the most common case, it seems to me, you can fill this side of the card to the best of your desire. This will not affect the admission of the child to classes.

Parent or Guardian Notice Form
is about your child’s adventures in the world of knowledge.

The most important thing on this form is your emergency phone numbers.

This document is for the sole purpose of knowing who to call if there is anything useful or urgent to say about your child’s progress or problems.

Emergency contact form
with you as a parent “in case”.

With this form, you give the school the right to provide medical care to the child “in case of emergency”, so be sure to describe allergies to medications, to any other substances (if any). nine0003

Also in the penultimate block of questions you are asked “Do you have health insurance?” – and you must choose YES or NO.

If available, please tick some private (Private Health), Medi-Cal, or Healthy Families.

On the line below, write the name of the insurance and other information about it so that the school can use it for your child, if required.

Medical examination of the child before school.

If for some reason you do not have the results of a medical examination passed for a visa, this sheet must be taken to a doctor
in the USA and he will examine the child here (and you will pay for it :).

In my opinion, this document is simply not needed, and we did not fill it out, because we have the results of a medical examination for a visa that we just recently passed, which is required to obtain this very visa.

All information about vaccinations, x-rays, etc. is in it. So waste time on this paper only if you share your medical examination report somewhere or if some indecent amount of time has passed since it was passed (more than six months). nine0003

If you are unsure if your physical exam is a replacement for this document, just ask the school.

Library Rules .

Actually, the most common rules for using the library: do not tear books, do not chew, return on time.

Tips for reading aloud to a child at home, asking a child to read aloud at home and just reading.

Sign below that you understand and accept everything.

Child Homelessness Test Form .

The most important thing here is whether you check even one box in the black lined box: each box in it says that the child lives somewhere not at home – either in the garage, or with relatives due to the loss of the house, or in a trailer or even in a shelter.

If this does not apply to you, check the box “NONE OF THE ABOVE…”
The reverse side of this form must be completed only you have noted that the child has problems with living conditions. nine0003

Once again I emphasize that the presence of such problems does not mean that the child will immediately be refused to be taken to school. On the contrary, this form begins with the words that access to education should be equal for all children.

And once again, I would like to emphasize that the following turnover of this document is filled out only if you indicated that the child lives anywhere.

Permission to film a child at school
(if you do not want to, you can not sign)

Notice of access to the LAUSD online system
(this is for ordering meals for the child, etc.) this document. Please fill it out carefully.

By and large, no form contains any complicated questions: carefully read the captions under each field and enter what they ask you to enter there. nine0003

In addition to all these forms, when schools learn that a child has a non-native English language, they give you a form to sign that you are aware that the child is immersed in an English-speaking environment and that he will be given special attention to develop his language skills. From “special attention” can be waived later by writing a statement about it.

Plus, there are “extension programs” in schools. Specifically, in our it is free. To sign up for it, you need to fill out another form, but there are the standard full name of the student + signatures of the parents and that’s all, so I don’t give it here. nine0003

Lessons start at approximately 08:15. In our school, everything is strict: the gates close at exactly 08:00, and then the entrance is only through the building of the school administration with a special ticket-permission to enter the classroom after the bell. So learn and don’t be late! 🙂

How long does it take to become a Certified Esthetician in Florida?

The minimum time to become a certified cosmetologist varies by state, but in most of them, including Florida, it takes 250 hours. nine0003

A certified cosmetologist in Florida is generally required to complete extensive training and exclusively pass both written and practice practice tests.

Due to the nature of Florida beauticians’ work, their training is usually specialized, so coursework and practical exercises are included in their training (practice).
