Schools in the Braselton Area

Our new community members are always thrilled to learn that Braselton offers an exceptional list of high-ranked schools for their young future-intellectuals and entrepreneurs.

There are over 15 accomplished schools in our neighborhood providing parents with a wide range of programs to fit every child’s abilities and needs. In fact, the Gwinnett County school district was the proud winner of the 2010 Broad Prize for Urban Education, the largest education award in the country.

“Phenomenal school. Excellent staff. Thriving environment. The students are exceptional and their grades are exemplary.”

“By infinite Possibilities, GSMST means Infinite possibilities. As a student here, the curriculum is challenging, but you must work hard to succeed. I know more people in one semester than I do in one year. The extracurricular activities are great for those who love technology (Science Olympiad, Robotics, etc. ) Speaking of Robotics, the robotics program is huge. The lack of sports at this school is hardly a disappointment, for we have intramurals. Did I mention the TECHNOLOGY? Teachers utilize technology every day using document cameras, laptops, projectors, etc. If you are willing to have a challenging curriculum, great friends, great teachers, and technology, I would recommend this school to you.”

Mill Creek High School

“Mill Creek has a diverse student body, with modern facilities. Its large student population of 4,000 students, makes you feel like you’re at a junior college! Some drawbacks the school has and could fix include the counseling office. It would be nice if the counseling office better prepared their students for university and the process of applying to college.

“Mill Creek is the biggest and one of the top schools in Gwinnett County as it employs some of the best teachers in the state and wins several awards each year for its students’ overachieving test scores. The school has over 3,800 students yet its amazing sports programs and dedicated teachers make each and every student feel special.”

Best Cities to Raise a Family in Georgia

Georgia is a deal-finder’s best friend. Southern charm and Southern hospitality combine to provide residents with a relatively low cost of living in the Peach State. For 10 cities in particular, it’s a great place to bring a family and stay there until everyone is out of the nest. These cities have strong schools, short commutes, and loyal neighbors who will stick around. Read on to find the CreditDonkey team’s top picks for the best places to raise a family in Georgia.

Study Methodology

To shape our study, we first excluded those cities with a population of less than 15,000. We then used these five factors to come up with our top 10:

  1. Education
  2. Commute Time
  3. Household Type
  4. Residency
  5. Housing Costs

From kindergarten all the way up to college, Georgia prides itself on its exceptional schools and how educated residents are overall. We looked at the percentage of people in each city who earned a high school diploma or higher as a measure of educational attainment.

Atlanta is infamous for its traffic woes but you’ll find there are plenty of Georgia cities where the daily drive is less of a headache. We ranked the cities in our study based on the average commute and found the longest drive takes just under 31 minutes.

Some cities are geared towards retirees while others are favored by the working crowd. Our study focused on the percentage of family households with children under 18 to find those locales that are most welcoming to people with kids.

Most people don’t relish the thought of packing up and moving every other year and when you find a home you like, leaving it is the last thing you want to do. If you’re looking for a place where people tend to stick around, check out how each city ranks based on the percentage of residents still living in the same home they were living in a year ago.

Georgia’s home prices are among the lowest in the nation, which is good news for your budget. Whether you’re planning to buy or you’re more comfortable renting, it pays to know which cities are the easiest on your wallet. Our rankings measured affordability for each location based on what percentage of income residents spend on housing.

10. Roswell

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 93%
  • Commute Time: 26.5 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 33.7%
  • Residing in Same Home: 86.2%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 21.6%

The largest city on our list is Roswell, with a population of nearly 94,000 people. One of Atlanta’s northernmost suburbs, it’s also close to both Marietta and Alpharetta. We think Roswell is a good match for families who want access to quality good schools and don’t mind paying a bit more for their home. Median home values surpass the $300,000 mark. Since the market continues to heat up, you’ll need to move quickly if you’re planning to buy.

Did You Know: The Roswell Manufacturing Company mill was burned by General William T. Sherman during his infamous march across the south.

9. Dublin

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 80.6%
  • Commute Time: 17.8 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 30.9%
  • Residing in Same Home: 86%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 23.2%

Dublin is one of the smaller towns on our list, with just over 16,000 residents, but we think it’s well-suited for families who prefer a slower pace. Farming is still an important part of the economy and attractions like the TroupCorn corn maze give kids an opportunity to learn about local agriculture. You won’t have to worry about wasting a lot of time getting to work each day and housing costs won’t wreak havoc on your paycheck.

Did You Know: The Dublin-Laurens St. Patrick’s Day Festival is the largest Irish-themed event in the state.

8. Sugar Hill

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 89.9%
  • Commute Time: 30.6 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 47.3%
  • Residing in Same Home: 89.2%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 23.1%

With a slogan like “The Sweet Life,” you can’t go wrong if you decide to call Sugar Hill home. Though still relatively small at just under 20,000 residents, it’s considered one of the country’s fastest-growing cities. There’s an obvious kid-friendly vibe here, which is evidenced by the fact that nearly half of all family households include children under 18. Higher home values mean you’ll spend slightly more on housing but it’s a small price to pay for the quality of life residents enjoy.

Did You Know: Local legend says that Sugar Hill got its name when a freight wagon carrying sugar accidentally spilled its contents on a nearby hill.

7. St. Mary’s

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 92.3%
  • Commute Time: 19.6 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 33.7%
  • Residing in Same Home: 75.4%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 21.1%

Nicknamed “The Gateway to Cumberland Island,” St. Mary’s is a picturesque little town located along Georgia’s southern coast. The city features a busy tourist trade thanks to the Cumberland Island National Seashore but as you can see, there’s a healthy number of families living in the area. Housing costs aren’t too steep and you’ll find that it takes less than 20 minutes on average to get to the office.

Did You Know: St. Mary’s is reportedly haunted by a number of ghosts, including a well-loved paddlewheel captain and a headless pirate who spends his nights wandering through the marsh.

6. Peachtree City

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 95.9%
  • Commute Time: 28.6 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 37. 6%
  • Residing in Same Home: 85.9%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 20%

Things are just peachy for the residents of Peachtree City, one of Atlanta’s more affluent suburbs. The local school system has the highest graduation rate in the metro area and several schools have received individual recognition for excellence. Residents are well educated and tend to bring home a much bigger payday, with a median income of more than $91,000. If safety’s a priority, you’ll be glad to know that the crime rate is among the lowest in the state.

Did You Know: Peachtree City is roughly 30 miles from some of the state’s best family attractions, including Six Flags, the Georgia Aquarium and the LEGOLAND Discovery Center.

5. Kingsland

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 91.3%
  • Commute Time: 21.5 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 43.6%
  • Residing in Same Home: 83.4%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 23. 1%

Kingsland sits adjacent to St. Mary’s and when it comes to size, educational attainment and median incomes, the two are nearly identical. By the numbers, Kingsland ranks a little higher on our list because there are slightly more families living in the area. Boating, fishing, horseback riding and kayaking are just a few of the adventures kids will enjoy, while mom and dad may prefer a stroll through the historic downtown district.

Did You Know: In 2012, Kingsland was the setting for “Lovetown, USA,” a reality series developed by Oprah Winfrey that focused on helping local singles find their perfect match.

4. Pooler

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 95%
  • Commute Time: 22.1 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 38.2%
  • Residing in Same Home: 84.7%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 22.2%

Pooler can’t match the size of nearby Savannah but it makes up for in terms of its overall affordability. While home prices are slightly higher than the metro area, you’ll spend a much lower percentage of your income on housing. This small community is especially inviting to families, largely due to its low crime rate and hospitable atmosphere. Pooler is close to all that Savannah has to offer and if you’re looking for a weekend getaway, Hilton Head is just across the South Carolina state line.

Did You Know: Pooler is close to several significant historical attractions including the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts.

3. Johns Creek

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 96.5%
  • Commute Time: 30.2 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 49.9%
  • Residing in Same Home: 89.5%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 21%

Johns Creek is another of Atlanta’s larger cities and more than 82,000 people call it home. The city is one of the metro area’s most affluent suburbs, second only to Milton when it comes to how much residents earn. Half of the family households in John Creeks include minor children and the population is highly educated. The city has a solid economic base all its own but at less than 30 miles from the capital, you shouldn’t have any trouble landing a job.

Did You Know: Johns Creek is close to Lake Lanier, which was the site for several events from the 1996 Summer Olympics.

2. Alpharetta

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 97.2%
  • Commute Time: 25.3 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 42.9%
  • Residing in Same Home: 83.8%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 18.6%

Alpharetta is another Atlanta suburb that’s earned a reputation for being well-to-do, but it’s not quite as pricey as its neighbors. Despite its larger size, the city has an outstanding crime rate and home prices aren’t through the roof. Commute times aren’t bad on average but you’ll want to give yourself a little more time if you’re driving to downtown Atlanta. From ice skating to go-kart racing, there’s not much you won’t find in the way of family fun.

Did You Know: Alpharetta’s North Point Mall is home to the only American Girl Boutique and Bistro in Georgia.

1. Milton

  • High School Graduate or Higher: 97.8%
  • Commute Time: 29.6 minutes
  • Households With Children Under 18: 44.5%
  • Residing in Same Home: 87.9%
  • Income Spent on Housing: 18.1%

Milton, officially a city for less than a decade, has quickly become one of the Atlanta area’s most desirable places to live. In terms of educational achievement and the percentage of income residents spend for housing on average, the city easily outshines the competition. Residents have convenient access to everything the capital city has to offer but without all the hassles you’d expect in a larger urban area. A median income of close to $117,000 is just the icing on the cake.

Did You Know: Milton offers several annual events that are specifically geared towards kids and families, including Camp Joyful Soles and the Crabapple Fest.

You might be curious as to why some of Georgia’s larger cities aren’t on our list. After all, Atlanta is the premier destination for up-and-coming professionals while Savannah is bursting at the seams with antebellum history and natural beauty. Not to mention cities like Athens, August and Columbus, which bring their own unique flavor to the table. Although their appeal is undisputed, we believe the 10 cities we’ve chosen have that little something extra that makes them the overall most livable spots for families.

The Top 20 Cities for Families in Georgia

7 North Texas Schools Awarded National Blue Ribbon – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

More schools in Texas have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools in 2022 than anywhere else in the country, according to the U. S. Department of Education. The state has 31 campuses receiving the annual honor including seven in North Texas.

The DOE said the yearly recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced the recognized campuses on Friday during his Road to Success Back to School bus tour.

“I applaud all the honorees for the 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award for creating vibrant, welcoming, and affirming school communities where students can learn, grow, reach their potential, and achieve their dreams,” said Secretary Cardona. “As our country continues to recover from the pandemic, we know that our future will only be as strong as the education we provide to all of our children. Blue Ribbon Schools have gone above and beyond to keep students healthy and safe while meeting their academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. These schools show what is possible to make an enduring, positive difference in students’ lives.

FOUR DALLAS SCHOOLS NAMED NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOLS

In North Texas, four of the seven schools named on the list are in Dallas including two in the Dallas Independent School District and two from the Dallas diocese.

In the Dallas ISD, the School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) and the School of Science and Engineering (SEM) were both named to the prestigious list. The schools, the district said, are part of Yvonne A Ewell Townview Center, a complex of campuses in East Oak Cliff. TAG was previously named a National Blue Ribbon campus in 2003 and was named by Newsweek/The Daily Beast as the Best Public High School in the U.S. in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010 — they were No. 2 in 2008 and 2011, and No. 3 in 2014. This is the third Blue Ribbon award for SEM.

Local

The latest news from around North Texas.

The Diocese of Dallas’ All Saints Catholic School, a PreK3 through 8th-grade campus in Far North Dallas that has twice before won the Blue Ribbon (2006 and 2015), and Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, a school for boys in grades 9-12, were both also named to the list.

The private schools were among only 24 private schools nationwide to receive the award this year.

“This award is indicative of the exemplary teaching our students receive every day,” said All Saints Principal Shana Druffner. “Great teachers make great schools, and we have great teachers. Due to their efforts, our students achieve excellence in their faith, academics, service, and character. As three-time recipients, we truly serve as a model for schools across the country.”

THREE OTHER SCHOOLS NAMED NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOLS

In addition to the four schools in Dallas named on the list, three other North Texas schools were also recognized as exemplary.

The Diocese of Fort Worth’s St. John The Apostle Catholic School in North Richland Hills, the Grand Prairie ISD’s Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute and the Denison ISD’s Terrell Elementary School were also named winners in 2022.

The Grand Prairie ISD said having a school named to the National Blue Ribbon School list “affirms and validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in striving for – and attaining – exemplary achievement.

“We are extremely proud of the students and staff of Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute,” said Linda Ellis, Grand Prairie ISD superintendent. “This designation is the result of their commitment to educational excellence.”

The Fort Worth Diocese said St. John is receiving the honor for a second time, having last been named on the list in 2008. The diocese said this year St. John was recognized and commended for “its diverse student population, an exemplary outdoor education program and its exceptional Institute for Excellence in Writing.”

“As Pastor at St. John the Apostle Parish and School, I am deeply grateful for the tremendous blessings Our Lord has given us in our families, our school’s staff, and the generous benefactors that support Catholic education at St. John and throughout our Diocese,” said Father Jack McKone, pastor of St. John the Apostle Parish.

Schule Schloss Salem

Schloss Salem is the largest German boarding school, the founders of which dreamed of growing a new intellectual elite. Schloß Torgelow has an interesting motivation system: excellent students do not receive homework, while students with average grades do their homework under the guidance of a teacher. 7 best international schools in Moscow

Education abroad has many advantages. This is a high level of training of specialists, the use of the latest methods and developments, comfortable learning conditions, internships in the best companies in the world. A diploma from a well-known foreign university is highly rated around the world.

However, it is necessary to prepare for admission to foreign universities long before receiving a certificate and passing the exam. Despite the fact that the Russian educational program is very strong, graduates studying only according to it experience difficulties with admission. This is the lack of knowledge of the English language at the proper level, and the fundamental differences in the schemes of education.

Lyceum of the International University

International private schools in Russia allow you to get a quality education and enter the world’s best universities without any problems. As a rule, training is conducted in them under two programs at once, Russian and foreign. As a result, graduates receive 2 certificates at once, successfully enter the most prestigious universities. We are talking about schools that have licenses and certificates from international and English examination boards. Depending on the specific type of certificate, an international school can only teach English and help prepare for exams, or has the right to conduct tests and administer exams. Some schools use the Russian curriculum, supplemented by subjects from the programs of the University of Cambridge or the International Baccalaureate.

Please note that international private schools can use either the English National Curriculum or the International Baccalaureate Curriculum. In the first case, an A-Level certificate is issued, in the second – IB. Both programs are valued by the world’s leading universities, but their teaching principles differ significantly. Consider this at the stage of choosing a suitable private school.

Juvenes Private School

The A-Level program involves self-selection of 3-4 core subjects from a wide range of disciplines. They are selected taking into account the requirements of the university to which the graduate plans to apply. If desired, students can perform research work and arrange the results in the form of a detailed essay.

Unlike the A-Level, in the Diploma Program, the student chooses one subject from 6 groups (but the study of mathematics, native and foreign languages is mandatory). At the same time, half of the selected subjects are studied at an advanced level, and the second – at a standard level. In the IB course, conducting research and writing a detailed essay is a must.

Distinctive features of children’s English schools

In international private schools, it is important to create a healthy psycho-emotional atmosphere for students. Children have to master the most complex programs, study languages in depth. In schools, great attention is paid to each child, teachers, together with a psychologist, evaluate the capabilities of each student, and, if necessary, conduct individual classes. Curricula are drawn up in such a way as to evenly distribute disciplines, alternate physical and mental stress, work and rest.

The qualification of a teacher is of great importance. The schools in question accept experienced teachers who can find an approach to children and present information in an interesting way.

The best children’s English schools have powerful equipment: laboratories, a modern library, a developed sports base, computer classes, and conditions for art classes. Equipping classes is also important for the implementation of modern educational programs. They should be equipped with interactive whiteboards, projectors, comfortable and safe furniture.

Also, scientists have determined that giftedness in music manifests itself first of all, later a child gifted in art strives to prove himself, and the geniuses of science manifest themselves later. Geeks in Regular School Geeks are often no different than normal kids, but they are very inquisitive and like to ask a lot of questions. 5 most popular Orthodox schools in Moscow

Orthodox schools in Moscow combine high quality education with spiritual and moral values. This is reflected not only in the obligatory rituals: morning prayer, visiting Temples, participation in the Liturgy, observing fasts, pilgrimage trips, etc., but also in the ways of teaching some general education subjects (history, biology and literature). Thus, Darwin’s theory is taught precisely as a theory. In addition to general education disciplines, pupils of church schools study Orthodox culture and the Church Slavonic language, the Law of God. As in all private schools, the institutions in question have all the conditions for comfortable learning and recreation: small classes of up to 15 people, ergonomic furniture, modern material and technical equipment, experienced and talented teachers. The Virtues of Studying in Church Schools Proper Education. In church schools, children are eager to learn. This is facilitated by a special atmosphere, the mood of teachers, an individual approach. In ordinary schools, children form other priorities: expensive electronics, fashionable clothes, entertainment. The guys are spared from the negative influence from the outside. Children tend to copy the behavior of adults. Given the blurred boundaries of moral and ethical principles in modern society, the lack of proper education in ordinary schools, this trend leads to big problems: teenagers begin to do what is considered a sin for an Orthodox person. Children of believing parents are much more comfortable being surrounded by like-minded people. There are currently two main types of church schools: parochial and missionary. The first are opened by the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church. Enroll in […]

“My job is a sporting event”

CEO, Member of the Board of Directors Exillon Energy plc Vyacheslav Nekrasov spoke about the secrets of working as a financial consultant, the need for excitement in the profession and the basic rule of a leader.

— Vyacheslav, why did you decide to work in such a field as financial consulting?

— This is a lively and interesting work that allows you to create and, most importantly, reach the goal, the result, which is to attract investment in the project. Thanks to the result, you get a huge incentive to do it further.

Such work can be compared to a sporting event, such as fencing or a boxing match, where the “rival” is a bank or an investment company.

In this gambling competition, of course, the force of impact or reaction speed is important, but the most important thing is the head, the mind. It is important for the lender to provide less investment for a larger stake in the business, for the borrower it is the other way around. The deal is realized only if a middle is found, a compromise solution that suits all participants.

Tell us about your career path. What were the turning points here?

— I began to work, to be more precise, to engage in small business, while still in high school. In the 90s, when imported goods were just beginning to appear in the country, such a business was very popular. These were sales of everything and everything: chewing gum, video cassettes, etc.

Then I entered the State University Higher School of Economics and continued to work: from the second year of study, I worked in the evenings at a grocery warehouse, wrote out waybills for the shipment of goods. In my fourth year, after receiving a certificate for the right to work as an accountant, I began my journey in the world of finance with an assistant accountant in a telecommunications company at Rostelecom.

Almost immediately after graduating from the university in 2000 and receiving an economics degree in the specialty “Economics and Enterprise Management”, I received an invitation to the position of an accountant in a company that supplies turbines for Russian nuclear power plants. Subsequently, I took the position of chief accountant and financial manager, additionally dealing with management accounting.

After a year and a half of work, I realized that I needed to move on and decided to go to the front. For me, this was a turning point in my career, I began to engage in more exciting, interesting work in the capital market. It was this decision that determined the area that I have been involved in for more than 20 years: attracting investments in the capital market.

Experience in the internal financial departments of companies, especially in accounting and management accounting, allowed me to quickly climb the career ladder. I knew how to read reports, I understood what indicators and financial ratios investment companies and banks pay attention to first of all when analyzing a project and a company.

— What are the most interesting projects you have implemented?

— Any project is unique, every time it starts from scratch: after all, each company has its own background in completed transactions and credit history.

In over 20 years of working in the capital market, I have twice had such turning points that forced me to learn something new. For example, after 12 years of participation in raising finance for real estate projects (residential and commercial), I was offered to finance projects in the oil and gas industry, an area with its own specifics, nuances, and investment volumes. So I had to become an oilman as soon as possible. And I succeeded.

By the way, since 2018 I have been the head of Exillon Energy Ltd (formerly Exillon Energy Plc), an independent oil producer in Russia, whose fields are located in Western Siberia and Timan-Pechora.

I completed my first deal in a new segment of the capital market in 9 months. It became the largest and most interesting in my portfolio, opened up new opportunities and horizons for me. The loan amount was $1.2 billion

Another interesting undertaking was the construction of a greenhouse complex for growing vegetables on an area of 9.8 hectares. It also took a lot of time, I had to study a new industry for me. Since 2014, when the era of import substitution began, such projects have been in great demand.

Here, too, there were nuances and rules. It came as a surprise to me that the consultants (appraisers, surveyors, engineering companies, etc.) with whom I have a working relationship on projects in the Real Estate sector and the oil and gas industry are different from those involved in the implementation of agricultural projects . I had to build relationships with these consultants. And it worked here too.

What conclusion can I draw? There is no need to be afraid to take on new projects that are different from those that you have previously worked on, because this allows you to develop and improve in your profession.

— What rules do you follow in your work?

— The basic rule is to be flexible in decision making and management. Each party, whether it is a project initiator or an investor, must, in fact, be “married”, otherwise the project will not attract sufficient funding.

The main thing is a strong team, whose members are deeply immersed in the issues of the issue, have strong analytical, client and managerial qualities. For me, carelessness and irresponsibility are unacceptable, because the fate of the project is at stake.

— What is more important during negotiations with banks: personal contacts or professionalism?

– Personal contacts and connections are of great importance in the negotiation process, especially since the majority of bankers very rarely leave to work in other sectors. Usually they move from bank to bank, building their careers in this area. Therefore, business relationships can continue for many years.

But more important in negotiations are experience and professionalism. The negotiation process is like playing poker: someone has a strong hand, and someone bluffs. It is necessary to be able to read the interlocutor’s reaction to a particular question or answer, and even have basic knowledge in neurolinguistic programming. Listen and hear the interlocutor, but also be able to defend their point of view. This comes with experience, you can only learn this at real meetings.

— In your opinion, what business niches are currently attractive for investors?

– Investors are now cautiously entering new niches. The most demanded is still housing construction, as well as everything related to import substitution and parallel imports. With the introduction of an oil embargo (although this is unlikely in the near future), the focus of investment may shift towards the development of projects in the food and fish industries, wood processing and pharmaceuticals.
