“Everything is fine in Bunyodkor – they pay salaries” / Football Club
Forward Oleksandr Pishchur, who this winter moved from Ukraine to Uzbekistan and defends the club colors of the Tashkent Bunyodkor, is one of those Ukrainians who has changed more than one club during his career. Metalist, Volyn, Tavriya, Obolon are far from the whole list of teams where the forward managed to play.
At the same time, before moving to 32 abroad to continue his career, the player never played in the Champions League. In Uzbekistan, Pishchur not only became the favorite of the fans of his team and made his debut in the most prestigious club tournament in Asia, but also opened the scoring with his goals scored on the international arena.
Of course, we are talking about the AFC Champions League. But, as Alexander himself said, this tournament and its level should not be underestimated. However, read for yourself.
– So, I came home for four days. The mood is not good right now, to be honest, we were eliminated from the AFC Champions League… But we are in the first place in the championship, so everything is fine, – with these words, the striker began a conversation with a FootBoom.com journalist.
– In your opinion, was Bunyodkor’s departure logical at this stage?
– Of course not: they could have gone further. This team is inferior to the Koreans, Japanese and Chinese, who are in very good standing in Asian football. We came out of such a good group from the first place – and so we stopped… First, we lost 1:2 away, and then ended the match at home with a goalless draw. There were a couple of great moments – but they couldn’t score. It’s a shame, of course…
– Already used to being a legionnaire?
– I don’t feel it.
Uzbekistan is a country of the post-Soviet space, so not quite a legionnaire. Everyone communicates mainly in Russian, so nothing unusual.
– What about the fact that you are now constantly away from your family?
– Yes, this is indeed a very big drawback. True, my wife and her youngest daughter came to visit me, now I will go to Tashkent – I will take my eldest son with me. In a week and a half I’m waiting for my wife and the rest of the children.
– In Uzbekistan, the championship is played according to the spring-autumn system. Have you already adapted to this feature?
– Yes, very quickly. Everything is the same as in our country: first, the training camp, then the championship, which lasts until the beginning of December … The only difference is that the championship begins in the fall, and in Uzbekistan in the fall everything is clear: who goes how and which teams are leaders.
– You made your debut for Bunyodkor very successfully: you scored three times against your opponents.
Well, then, in the next two matches, they were marked with doubles. What contributed to your scoring activity?
– I don’t even know. We just prepared normally for the season, our condition and mood were normal. The team was on the move, that’s why it happened, after all, I’m a striker. He put dots at the end of matches.
– You scored 9 goals in 10 league games: you are surely the favorite of Bunyodkor fans…
– Well, yes, there is such a thing (smiles).
– You have a contract with Bunyodkor until winter. Has there been any talk of an extension?
– No, no one has mentioned it yet. I play football, and then we will watch further.
– Have you heard that thanks to your success in Bunyodkor, you were even offered to stay in Uzbekistan?
– Yes, it was. They offered to take citizenship. And I said that if it does not affect my daily life, then this option can be considered. But in the end, it turned out that if I started playing for the national team and our club would come under scrutiny, it could be punished because I didn’t play long enough on the territory of Uzbekistan.
– That is, as long as you remain Ukrainian, and then – how will it turn out?
– Yes, no. As I was a Ukrainian, I will remain so. This is my native country, and I will live here.
– What is the difference in the perception of football in Ukraine and Uzbekistan?
– Everything seems to be the same as ours. The media cover the matches, television broadcasts the fights, there are football broadcasts… There is interest in football. But we, in Ukraine, have more teams that set high goals for themselves, and in Uzbekistan only three or four teams can afford this: the rest of the teams are in a lower class.
– How do you like the weather in Tashkent? Hot?
Yes, it’s hot. It feels like someone has attached a hair dryer to your back, you run – and it blows with heat. But everything is fine: you need to wash more often – and that’s it (laughs).
– Is the training process different from Ukrainian in Uzbekistan? Maybe you are more into physical training, or vice versa, the emphasis is on tactics?
– Each coach has his own approach, of course, but we work with the ball mainly: tactics, technique.
All teams want to play like Barcelona now. We roll the ball, we try to keep it, we don’t hit it anywhere …
Do you follow the Ukrainian championship?
– Yes, of course.
– What can you say about the situation with the financing of clubs this season?
– We have some problems almost every season, but this year it turned out that a lot more teams suffered. There are big problems in Kryvbas, and in Volyn, I heard that everything is not as good as we would like. Although in “Volyn”, they say, everything will work out.
But, in any case, these are very unpleasant moments: apparently, there are not enough people who love football enough to invest in it.
– Clubs in Uzbekistan are not so well off, but, nevertheless, grandiose problems don’t seem to arise out of the blue… What’s the matter?
– We are supported by the state, due to this there is stability.
– In your opinion, should there be 16 teams in the elite division of Ukrainian football, or, as in Uzbekistan, can it be limited to 14?
– As for me, the more teams in the championship, the more interesting.
And you play more, and there are fewer pauses. You get tired of constantly training, and when there are more games, and there are different rivals, it becomes more dynamic. We already have big pauses in the championship, and if there are 14, then still, consider that there will be a month more of them.
– Match attendance in Uzbekistan is not the same as in Ukraine. Do you miss the full stands of stadiums?
– We really don’t have many fans in Tashkent. But when we play with Lokomotiv or Pakhtakor, the stadiums will be full. And on the road, the arenas are constantly packed: people go to matches well.
– Do you miss Ukraine and Ukrainian football?
– How can I say… Of course, I would like to be at home and perform. But a football player is such a profession that you don’t always have to choose: I am now where I can play at the moment.
– Have you thought about returning? Surely scouts of Ukrainian football clubs are following you.
– Not yet. We first need to finish the first round – there are still three matches left. Well, then I’ll see what, how and where.
Honestly, I didn’t even talk to anyone about it. There are different conversations, but I still have a valid contract with a club from Tashkent.
– Please tell us about the Asian Champions League.
– Of course, this is a completely different tournament than the European Champions League. The teams that are represented in it play football in a completely different way. But they take football and the tournament very seriously: there is a stir in the stands, and the level of football, I would say, is decent. Especially in Japan, Korea, China.
– So you shouldn’t underestimate this tournament, right?
– Absolutely.
– Is it interesting to play against a team from, say, Korea or Japan?
– Of course, it’s interesting. It’s great in every country: everywhere there are beautiful stadiums, their own infrastructure.
It was great in Thailand, where we recently played in the 1/8 finals of the AFC Champions League against Buriram PEA. I was simply amazed by the audience: the stadium was completely filled – 22 thousand fans – and they were all 95 minutes of the match were singing. Very much.
– They say Thailand is a very interesting country…
– To be honest, I didn’t see anything except the hotel and the stadium.
– Is Bunyodkor a team that is closer to European or Asian football?
– I don’t even know. To be honest, I never thought about it before. But if we play in Asia, then Asian.
– Well, if a team from Tashkent suddenly entered the Ukrainian Premier League, where would it finish at the end of the season?
– I have no idea: thinking about something in our football is a thankless task. But, I think, we would have competed, of course, with rivals, and would have taken a place somewhere in the middle, not lower than eighth.
– Can we conclude that you are satisfied with your winter choice: the fact that you ended up in Bunyodkor?
– Yes, quite. There is a contract, I play, everything more or less works out, the salary is paid – so everything is fine.

Smolensk poet Vyacheslav Ivanov about poetry on the Internet, popularity and craftsmanship.
How did your passion for poetry begin?
It all started a long time ago, in adolescence. The first experience cannot be considered poetry, it is, so to speak, versification. Then it was forgotten for a long time, and I consciously returned to this at the age of 26, when there was already something to say about, some experience had been accumulated. The poems have developed as they are in the last three years.
So you didn’t take it too seriously when you were young?
Yes Yes.
In our country, judging by the very popular website Poetry.ru, there are about a million poets (laughs). No one forbade anyone to write poetry, and many people write poetry, because writing poetry is even easier than drawing or composing music, it seems that every person who knows the language and is able to pick up a pen can do it. Therefore, early attempts at versification cannot be considered some kind of experience.
Which authors have influenced you the most?
Good question. I consider it a great happiness for myself that I did not grow up in a poetic environment. I think if I had ended up at the age of seventeen in a poetic circle, where I was somehow directed, given a guideline, perhaps I would not have written what I wrote. I was brought up on a regular school curriculum, on such wonderful poets as Sergei Yesenin, Alexander Blok, poets of the sixties, Voznesensky, Yevtushenko. I’m not very interested in Western poetry, especially unrhymed, fashionable free verse.
Unfortunately, I’m not interested. Now for me there is a wide range of authors who are interesting to me. Many little-known modern authors from different cities of Russia, people who write worthwhile things. There are a lot of surnames, but they will say little.
Are there any of your acquaintances or friends among them?
Yes, sure. The possibility of communication in poetic Internet clubs had a positive impact. You can communicate with people from all over the world. There used to be such a wonderful club “Master of the Pen”, now it also exists, but already somewhat modified. There I met many authors who helped with criticism, helped to develop. Of course, there should be communication, it exists, and this is very good.
How would you characterize your own poetry?
If we divide creativity into stages, then I would call my first stage “Letter to a woman” (laughs). Because it was mostly love lyrics, without false modesty I will say that I was successful in it, it turned out to be in demand – now a lot of poems from that period are walking on the net.
It is very interesting when in your city you meet a person at your speech, and he says that he already read these verses about two years ago. Poems live their own lives, they have already separated from the author. By the way, I ended this period with a book called “There are two of us on earth.” I decided to publish the book precisely because there was a feeling that a new streak began in life, new ideas and themes appeared. The book turned out to be small, about a hundred poems, but, to tell the truth, I plan to make the second book even smaller. You need to be more strict with yourself and select only the best, at least at the moment when you are compiling a book.

You say that you have seen your poems on the Internet many times. Ever had a problem with plagiarism?
There were, there were problems. I, in general, take this very calmly, because they do not earn money on this. Even from the point of view of the law, if another person does not derive selfish benefit from your work, you cannot call a person to court.
If he just published your work somewhere on the Internet, for example, did not sign the author or signed himself – well, he acted ugly. On the one hand, this is annoying, but on the other hand, it should flatter the author. Many of my friends tell me that they are afraid to post their poems on the net, they are afraid that they will be stolen. I answer: “Dream to be stolen, dream to be stolen.” This indicates your success. Of course, if the plagiarists had gone further and started earning money, then the matter would have been more serious.
Do you write mostly about your life, about yourself, or do you get inspired by other people’s stories as well?
Mostly in poetry, not only me, but also the people around me. I have several dialogue poems, of which there are some quite successful ones in which live communication is displayed. And when I write lines, literally up to “Wow!”, I always imagine a person from my acquaintances who says this, how he would react to this phrase.
My work is dedicated to interpersonal communication, and not necessarily communication between a man and a woman. Today I am interested in the dialogue “doctor-patient”, “parents-children”. But this is always a relationship, I have few poems about nature. Therefore, of course, the people who surround me play a very important role.
Have you ever set your poems to music?
There are several songs, there are even several commercial projects. There is a project with the Minsk composer Dmitry Danilin, he performs songs to my words. Maybe even one day he will come to Smolensk with a concert. Vladimir Kuznetsov, a performer from Moscow who performs our song, has acquired a license to perform, there are other performers. At one time I was actively involved in this, in the sense that I not only allowed the use of poetry, but also specially wrote lyrics for songs. There was such a period, quite interesting things turned out.
Do you write to order?
I write, for advertising, for example, I write.
They apply quite often, but I never imagined myself as a person offering my services in this area. These are mostly acquaintances and acquaintances of acquaintances. It’s not really creativity, it’s handicraft, I don’t really like it. Commercial interest here is not particularly large, you know, not on such a scale, but it does not give pleasure. There is and is.
What, in your opinion, distinguishes the poet of the 21st century?
Now there are a lot of directions, a lot of authors. With the advent of the Internet and social networks, it became possible, bypassing various writers’ organizations, to convey their work to the masses. On the one hand, this is good. People who are talented, but may have been rejected by someone, can convey themselves to the reader. But on the other hand, there is so much garbage. I personally left all publics, groups, I don’t offer my poems there, I don’t want my poems to appear where 90% is rubbish. It won’t flatter you at all. Another thing is when you are published by a literary magazine, where you are next to wonderful authors.
I myself was first published in the magazine “Youth”, where Voznesensky, Yevtushenko were published, such an image thing. It’s flattering.
Which Smolensk poets do you single out?
The word “poet” is generally loud, I am always embarrassed myself when they call me that. This is a big responsibility – time will show who is a poet, who is not a poet. That’s why I like to say “author”. In our studio of poetry and short prose at the Klestov-Angarsky library there are such remarkable Smolensk poets as Alexander Dobrovolsky, a very interesting author, writes free verse, Yulia Poselennova, a very peculiar author, Olga Kaminskaya, were published together in the Smolensk almanac about two years ago, and on this basis we met. Our studio is non-profit, we organized it in January of this year at the library, which is on Builders Avenue. We do not just have readings, we arrange analysis of poems, we try to identify strengths and weaknesses. Already held a city competition. I think we have helped many young guys to show themselves.
