It has been reported that Amazon plans to double the maximum base salary, but employees are skeptical about such a decision.

Last year, Amazon experienced another wave of employee dissatisfaction, amid continued demands for workers’ wages.

The company on Monday said it would double the salary of top employees in basic positions to $350,000 a year. Other big tech companies and buzzy startups were willing to pay millions for the best of the best. nine0005

On Monday, Amazon announced a major change to its compensation policy, more than doubling the maximum base salary and expanding the pay range for most corporate positions at the company, citing “the need to remain competitive to attract and retain top talent” in an internal note.

Team reaction

The bold move, however, met with skepticism among some of the rank-and-file members of the corporation’s staff, who were concerned that it was more of a marketing ploy than an attempt to solve a long-standing problem. Online sales company Amazon opened the “hunting season” for Israeli developers, offering higher salaries, thereby exacerbating the local labor shortage and forcing local employers to raise wages. Alexa Shopping will be the focus of Israeli research centers in Tel Aviv and Haifa. Amazon has also hired Eyal Itah as the general manager of product development for Alexa Shopping.
