Garden reception. Until the age of 2.5, children attend a nursery, after 2.5 they go to school. There are certain dates for admission of children. There are no medical examinations or certificates upon admission. Night and evening kindergartens are provided for children of working parents. There are up to 20 children in a group. They are “served” by 3 educators. There is no division by age, groups of different ages. Children are divided by age only during classes.

All children walk together. No separate areas for groups! A walk in a Swedish kindergarten is the main thing. On warm sunny days, they eat, study, and even sleep outside! Rain and snow, strong winds are not a hindrance to a walk. Time to go for a walk – everyone is driven out into the street. Therefore, parents are required to wear something comfortable and waterproof for the child. In the spring, rubber boots, a rubberized jacket and trousers are required.

Rubber paradise

Of course! Children on a walk are allowed to do everything: mess around in a puddle, mud, slide down a hill on their buttocks, crawl in a sandbox, roll in the grass. There is a dryer in the locker room, where all this household stuff is usually dried. Usually rubber clothes for walking are left in the group, and the child is brought to the garden and taken out of it in something else.

A child can visit a children’s institution from the age of 3 months. From the age of 3, children are no longer accepted to kindergarten, but to school. The nursery accepts babies, from the age of 4 the child attends school. There are 6-12 children in the group, they are looked after by 1-3 teachers. The younger the children, the more adults.

All children walk together, there is no division into playgrounds for separate groups. But they walk only in good, that is, non-rainy weather. There are no changeable shoes. If the street is dirty, the children walk in a group just without shoes. They take kids to the garden with a cough, and with snot, and with a fever. The exceptions are chicken pox, ear infections, and eye infections like conjunctivitis. With them, entry into the garden is prohibited. Food is ordered “on the side”, in the garden it is only warmed up. Therefore, they feed children with semi-finished products. And in groups there is always a TV, in front of which children spend quite a lot of time.

They go out into the street in what the children could put on themselves. So children in the winter can be on a walk without hats or jackets. It is believed that this is how they are tempered. Especially since the parents don’t mind.

Another peculiarity of Irish gardens is that the teacher is not allowed to go to the toilet with the child and, God forbid! – Wipe his ass. Kindergartens take babies from 4 months, some from 6. But, as a rule, children go to kindergarten after they turn 1 year old. For registration, you only need to bring a certificate of vaccinations. If the child is vaccinated in accordance with the national vaccination schedule, no questions arise.

There are several options for children to stay in kindergarten: from 9.00 to 12.00 without lunch, from 9. 00 to 13.00 with lunch, 9.00 to 17.00 with lunch and afternoon nap, morning stay from 7:30 to 9:00.

The group has an average of 15 people, but most often – 10 (someone is sick, left). There are 1 teacher and 2 assistants per group (nannies or an English teacher). Groups are divided by age with a difference of 6 months. State kindergartens are conditionally free: parents pay only an entrance fee (approximately 70 euros). Private kindergartens are paid, but a child’s stay in them, even for a whole day, will still cost less than a nanny.

Not all kindergartens have medical staff, but the kindergarten necessarily concludes a contract with a medical company and in which case this company will come to the rescue.

Whether or not to take a child with a low temperature to the garden depends solely on the well-being of the baby. If he is alert and active, then he will be taken to the garden, even in spite of coughing snot. At the same time, you can ask the teacher, and during the day he will check the condition of the child and measure his temperature. Children sleep in the same room where they play and eat. Those who want to sleep settle down on a folding bed in the corner of the room, those who do not want to stay awake and play quietly together with the teacher.

Kindergarten menu is an alternation of fish, chicken or meat, stew with vegetables, yogurt, fruit. It is approved for a month and sent to parents for review in advance. At the beginning of the school year (this is September), parents fill out a questionnaire in which there are questions about what kind of food and in what form the child likes, whether he has allergies. If a child attends kindergarten before lunch, parents give him a snack – yogurt, cookies, fruit.

Feedback

The teacher will offer the child a snack and write in the daily report that yogurt, for example, has been out of favor for several days. Parents sometimes even receive such a report twice a day: immediately after the baby was taken home – information on how the child ate and spent the morning, for example, if there was a question about well-being, or a story about successes, and later – a more capacious description of the activities in this day today with photos.

Teachers are very attentive to any request of parents. For example, if you want to potty train a child, the teacher will offer the child to sit on the potty and will report on progress every day.
