Our School – South Lakewood Elementary

Please take the time to read South Lakewood’s Mission and Vision. It will give you a good picture of who we are, and what we believe as educators.

South Lakewood Elementary Climate Vision South Lakewood Elementary is a caring community where everyone feels valued. We promote open communication, appreciation of diversity, and strive for high standards through collaboration of teachers, students, parents, and the community.

South Lakewood Elementary Curriculum Vision Through meaningful collaboration, the South Lakewood Elementary staff will use innovative implementation of Jeffco curriculum that reaches all students. 

We will achieve this through:

  •  Instruction – We implement district CAP documents, provide systemic instruction, and integrate content areas with clear and challenging goals for all students. Professional development is ongoing to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum. 
  • Best Practices – We provide systemic and highly engaging lessons that increase students’ depth of knowledge through teacher modeling, student interaction, and independent practice.
  • Instructional Support/Resources – We ensure that instructional support and resources are embedded within the curriculum to provide success for all students through accommodation, differentiation, and intervention.
  • Differentiation – We strive to reach all students by differentiating the Jeffco core curriculum based on essential learning, prioritized benchmarks, and technology.
  • Assessment and Data Decision Making – We use multiple assessments to monitor progress and make instructional decisions to meet individual student needs.
  • Technology –We engage in professional development and training to effectively utilize technology and to provide enriched, differentiated instruction that ensures student proficiency.
  • Teamwork/communication – We communicate and give each other frequent feedback to accomplish vertical and lateral planning that moves the school toward our vision.
  • South Lakewood Elementary Community Partnership Vision – South Lakewood Elementary believes that a high performing school is dedicated to maximizing the potential of every child through a collaborative partnership among parents, teachers, students and the community.

  • Communication – We support a welcoming environment that promotes consistent, frequent and open communication through a variety of methods that keep stakeholders up to date on student progress, school activities and events.
  • Community Resources – We build strong community partnerships to obtain and utilize multiple funding sources and encourage collaborative neighborhood support to enhance student learning and the school environment.
  • Volunteers – We encourage volunteerism by fully utilizing parent and community member talent. We provide multiple opportunities for involvement at various levels of commitment both within and outside of the school day. We also provide training and support where applicable.
  • Parent Connection – We develop strong parent and staff relationships by utilizing enhanced communication tools and encouraging collaborative decision-making.
  • Student Learning – We provide exemplary enrichment and support opportunities to all students in a variety of subject areas through partnerships and mentor programs before, during, and after school.
