Loudoun County Public Schools ranks third on the list of Virginia school systems. The public school located in Ashburn has 83,606 students in grades PK, K-12. LCPS is part of Loudoun County and is responsible for administering Loudoun County Public Schools.
Loudon County Schools is one of the fastest growing school districts in Virginia. Loudoun County’s school population is expected to increase in the coming years. Each year, Loudoun County Public Schools open one to three new schools to accommodate the growing number of students.
The School is managed daily by the Superintendent of Education (Dr.) Scott A. Ziglar. However, the school system is administered by the Loudoun County School Board. The School Board is a nine-member group established through public elections by the citizens of Loudun.
Schools in Loudon County have a student-teacher ratio of 14:1 with 86% of students proficient in math and 84% in reading.

School Enrollment
Loudon Public Schools have seen population growth over the years and are expected to increase in the coming years. Many high schools in Loudoun County are either currently expanding or have expanded in the past to accommodate the growing student population.
In addition to expansion, old schools are also looking to upgrade their schools to meet modern educational standards. Due to continued growth in the district, many schools have the potential to upgrade to full high school status in the coming years.

Loudoun Public School Enrollment Step-by-Step Guide
Step One – Eligibility
To qualify for admission to the Kindergarten class, a prospective student must be five years old on or before September 30 of the school year. There are no exceptions to this state requirement. In addition, some students under the age of 20 may receive an extension on or before the first of August of the school year.
Parents or legal guardians must provide proof of residence. In the event that the child does not live with parents or legal guardian, reference may be made to the Special Enrollment Criteria for more information on registering the child. There are different schools zoned for different parts of Loudoun. Therefore, students must ensure that the school they choose is within the attendance zone.
The Loudoun County Public School System may request re-verification of residence at each annual re-enrollment of a child. Parents/legal guardians who intend to enroll their child/ward in a school in a different attendance area must first enroll the child in a school in their area before applying for Special Permission.

Step two – Documentation
Parents / Legal guardians must provide a certified birth certificate of their child / Particip.
Parents/guardians must provide verifiable ID with their names and address.
Parents must provide proof of their child’s vaccinations at a public health center or certified pediatrician.

Step Three – Complete the Enrollment Process

To register online, a parent must register for a ParentVUE account by visiting the Online Pre-Registration page for information, registration guidance, and resources.

Step Four – Make an Appointment
After online pre-registration is completed and all required documents are collected, parents/legal guardians must contact the child’s zoned school to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process. The parent or legal guardian of the child must personally submit all required documents to the school.
Tuition for Loudoun County Schools
For questions, information, and payment schedules, parents can contact the Business and Financial Services office at 571-252-1190, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 am.
Tuition fees for 2022-22 session:
State residents will pay an annual fee of $12,350 and out-of-state residents will pay an annual fee of $17,894.
