Wastewater Data and Infection Rates
As a reminder, wastewater data for COVID and wastewater data for flu show that activity in the current season peaked in December.
U.S. to End COVID Public Health Emergency Status
Last month, President Biden announced that the public health emergency status for COVID-19 will be sunsetting in May 2023. We will be monitoring local and state public health department communications for implications for school settings and will update the board and community as we learn more.
Free COVID Rapid Test Kits
In SSD, COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits are being delivered to our schools and will be handed out to students and staff to take home for the upcoming February break to use before returning to school or work.
Key COVID-19 Updates for the 2022-2023 School Year

Masking continues to be strongly recommended indoors.
Schools will have masks on hand as needed.

HEPA Air Cleaners will continue to operate in every SSD classroom and shared spaces.

SSD is no longer offering weekly testing at school sites or the drive-thru symptomatic testing at the District Office.

Tests are available for students and staff who are symptomatic or a close contact. If families want their students to be tested at school if they are on campus and symptomatic we can do so with signed parental consent.

A message regarding how to sign up will be sent separately from your school. If you have had a known exposure or are symptomatic follow these steps.
