Occupation: Auditor

An audit is an independent review of a company’s financial statements to ensure they are accurate. It is a process of checking assets against published financial statements, aimed at the final presentation of accurate and complete data. The auditor’s job includes understanding a huge amount of background information and analyzing it; we advise clients on reporting rules and procedures, helping them understand all regulatory requirements.

What is the job of an auditor?

All clients and projects are different. The auditor will be required to be at the client’s location for the duration of the audit, which can take anywhere from two weeks to three months depending on the size of the client. Large projects may require working in a team of experts in different fields.

Typically, an audit consists of a cycle of information gathering processes; holding consultations; collecting information during interviews with employees and verification; analysis and reporting. Auditors start projects by gaining the deepest understanding of the client’s business by examining aspects of their operations, conducting a series of meetings with employees. You will meet with CFOs and senior managers to discuss strategies and business operations, and begin reviewing and analyzing the information collected:

Reviewing previous audits to gain an understanding of client-specific processes
Comparing client reporting with bank reporting
Checking for the existence and accuracy of reported asset records
Confirming the accuracy and completeness of the client’s supplier list
Reviewing the client’s inventory methods
Performing random inventory checks such as evaluating the accuracy of customer reporting
Testing customer processes and controls

The next step is to write a report showing your findings, highlighting the most important issues, making recommendations and presenting the final financial statements. The breadth of the companies and projects we work on shows that auditors can be called upon to achieve a huge variety of goals while serving as part of a team of people working in different areas of KPMG’s business. Working at the client’s location is a critical part of the auditor’s job, so you will need to change your environment and work in different locations with companies in different industries. Variation in the role of an auditor means there is no common pattern of audits to be carried out: auditors do many different interesting things, such as verifying the actual existence of people and buildings that a company has according to its records.

Who will I work with?

In most audits, you will work with a team that can vary in size depending on the size of the client and the project. This team will be made up of KPMG employees who are leaders in their field – giving you a unique opportunity to learn from the best in the industry and gain the highest quality experience. You will report to the Assistant Project Manager (usually an auditor with two to three years of experience). Each audit is usually led by a Project Manager (and, on some large projects, a Senior Manager). Finally, each audit must be signed by the KPMG Audit Partner. You will have your own mentor who will help you develop your skills and increase your efficiency. Your work will be monitored regularly to assess progress and identify areas of potential development.

You will have an Evaluation Manager who will review and comment on your professional development and skills development process, which is generally designed to ensure that you grow in every possible way while making the most of your opportunities.

What is the next step?

We are committed to providing you with the best possible tools, resources and support throughout your career. Our overall success is based on the talents and abilities of our team. We are focused on offering you the best opportunities to learn and grow within our organization.

In your role as an auditor, we will help you achieve your ACCA qualification – supporting you throughout the process and helping you develop communication skills such as client interaction, building effective working relationships, time management and negotiation. Auditing knowledge is a good foundation for building a career because of the unique set of required skills, whether you plan to grow as an audit project manager or work in other areas of our company.

KPMG is a global organization with an extensive network of companies, which means that we can offer a huge number of opportunities, roles and locations of projects in your development process. We run programs to support employees involved in international projects so that our employees can actually take advantage of the size of our company. In addition, our work across multiple lines of business means that you have the chance to grow within the company and gain experience through different roles, constantly acquiring new skills, and developing areas of your personal and professional life.

Other benefits?

We offer benefits that really matter to KPMG employees. A flexible benefit package will give you the opportunity to choose from a variety of financial and non-financial benefits that best suit your interests. In addition to high starting wages, we offer health and life insurance, as well as the opportunity to take vacations to compensate for working overtime.

What do I need?

We employ a wide variety of people with many different abilities, but there are universal strengths that all KPMG employees share. In addition to a good academic record, we want our employees to have useful practical skills. To get started, you must meet our minimum standards:

  • You must have a university degree or be a final year student

  • Have outstanding academic results
  • Be able to travel on business trips
  • You must be prepared to work outside office hours
  • Have analytical skills

You will need to earn the trust of management in order to interact directly with the client’s senior managers. Occupation: Tax Consultant

We are looking for people of the world who can act and think outside the traditional box, who appreciate and see the promise in the use of tax laws.

What is taxation?

Attitudes, policies and issues around taxation are constantly changing, and taxation has never been so scrutinized or at the center of such significant controversy. Increasing globalization and the exchange of information mean that taxation is now a very important issue at the international level. The modern professional working in KPMG’s tax department stays on top of these challenges to demonstrate to our clients how to comply with regulations.

KPMG offers our clients tax knowledge: we advise businesses on how tax issues fit into the larger picture of their business, and we implement solutions that deliver real value. We achieve a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and then provide them with the right insight to help optimize costs. For example, we advise our clients on how best to run their business to ensure they take advantage of the best possible tax incentives, as well as how they should organize their internal structure and tax department, which are extremely important factors that can help determine cost effectiveness.

What will I do in the tax department?

Tax advice often includes the provision of tax advice and the provision of tax liability verification and reporting services. working in a multidisciplinary team and meeting with CFOs and senior managers during client visits. A tax compliance review involves you taking a more specialized approach to analyzing clients’ activities and tax profiles to improve processes, as well as collaborating with peers who provide tax advice. The general principle of work begins with a comprehensive understanding of the client and detailed knowledge of technical issues and ends with the transfer of complex technical information in a clear and understandable way. Typical customer relationships include:

  • Extensive business and customer research
  • Checking clients’ tax returns for accuracy and identifying potential savings
  • Assisting clients by verifying that they have all the information required by the tax authorities
  • Organization of client files and preparation of initial consultation
  • Consulting and communicating with senior management and client auditors
  • Studying and understanding the latest tax legislation and working practices
  • Close monitoring of the client – relations with the tax authorities
  • Data analysis and modeling to help clients understand the implications of various tax decisions
  • Preparing and presenting proposals, reports and recommendations to clients.
  • International corporate taxation
  • Tax Liability Calculation and Tax Reporting Services for Foreign Professionals
  • Taxation in case of mergers and acquisitions of companies
  • Energy and natural resources
  • Consumer industrial markets
  • Financial services
  • Real estate and telecommunications

KPMG’s tax department faces a difficult environment due to frequent changes in processes and legislation. You must be aware of the latest legal developments in order to provide the best possible tax advice to our clients.

Who will I work with?

A tax advisory project involves you working closely and working in project teams with colleagues – the size and duration of each project varies from client to client, but the team usually consists of three people. The team is led by experienced professionals, providing you with an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge from the best specialists in the sector and high-quality experience. For larger and more complex projects, such as those involving international clients, larger teams are being formed where you will be able to collaborate and collaborate globally with professionals from the tax, audit and consulting departments, as well as other relevant professionals. Tax compliance projects tend to take place in offices and involve doing the work more independently, reaching a wider range of clients from a wide range of industries. Units report to a senior consultant (who typically has two or three years of experience). On larger projects, there is a manager (or sometimes a senior manager). Ultimately, all tax documents are approved by the KPMG Partner. You will also be assigned a manager to help you develop your skills and evaluate improvements to your performance. You will be subject to regular reviews allowing you to evaluate your work and see where your abilities are being applied.

During your first few days at KPMG, a dedicated team member will provide you with support to help you integrate smoothly into the company.

How will I develop?

We strive to provide you with the best tools, resources and support throughout your career. Our success is based on the talents and abilities of our team, and our efforts are focused on providing you with the best learning and development opportunities within the organization.

Wherever you are, KPMG offers the Tax Trek program, which is an excellent way to gain experience in another country. You can work abroad for another KPMG firm for three months. This program is a valuable training program that will help you develop new skills and gain international experience.

KPMG is a global organization with a wide network of member firms, which means we are able to offer a wide range of opportunities, roles and jobs as you grow. We run programs to support people working on international assignments so that our people really get the chance to make the best of our member firms in the KPMG network. In addition, the company’s multiple business lines mean that you have the opportunity to move within the company and expand your experience across departments while continuing to learn new skills and develop your personal and professional life. Promotion can be quick and it’s common for graduates where you can reach the senior consultant level after three years and then become a manager after another three years.

What else can I get?

The tax department is a very worthwhile commercial function to be a part of. This department offers you the opportunity to gain a complete and comprehensive understanding of the business world, helping you develop the skills and knowledge to advance your career in whatever direction you choose. We offer our employees a meaningful compensation package, including market-based wages and a competitive benefits package.
