What happens if I do not pick up my dog prior to close?

We allow late pick-up up until 8:30pm every day, by appointment only. If you will be arriving within 30 minutes of close, then no advance reservation is required, but notice to On the Ball is required. There is an additional fee for every hour after close your dog stays at On the Ball. If you need to pick up your pup later than 1 hour after close, a reservation must be made 12 hours in advance. The reservation is to ensure we have staff at On the Ball to handle the pick-up. If you cannot arrive prior to 8:30pm, then your pup is welcome to stay the night with us! When can I drop off my dog for daycare?

You can drop off your dog anytime during our open hours of 7am – 7pm on weekdays, and 8am – 5pm on weekends. Should you need early drop off, you can make a reservation to drop off between 6am – 7am on weekdays and 6am – 8am on weekends. Reservations must be made 12 hours in advance and they are subject to an additional fee.

Does the daycare have secure partitions between areas and access doors?

Every entrance and exit from a dog only area is secured with double layer doors for added security. Our policies also do not allow a dog to enter or exit from a space unless accompanied by one of our caring staff.

At the same time, maternity leave is a huge part of the workforce. According to Rosstat for the second quarter of 2020, almost 1.3 million Russian women were on parental leave. At the same time, a new trend is gaining momentum when men take a decree instead of a spouse and often do it quite unexpectedly for the personnel department.

A corporate kindergarten solves two of the parent’s headaches at once: being close to work and often excellent conditions for little or no pay. “For an employer, this is one of the most important tools for attracting and retaining talent,” says Maxim Natapov, owner of the ONE! International School.— The key factor is the area of business in which they already understand this and are ready to invest in preschool institutions and other preferences for the sake of excellent staff. That is, it is a question of the flexibility of the company, its values, the depth of empathy towards employees.” Now the most flexible are technological IT companies, such as Apple and Google, where the employee is fed, entertained, and takes care of his children. This is a long-established corporate culture, and kindergartens are its organic part, the expert emphasizes.

A sign of success

Abroad, 70% of the most successful and largest technology corporations from the Fortune 500 rating have their own corporate kindergarten, and this is not just a “luggage office” where a parent rents a child while working. “Only kindergartens with a systematic, methodologically thought-out and proven educational program, good infrastructure and a high degree of safety, comfort and individualization for children are attractive. There are even giants among them, for example, the American company Bright Horizons is the world’s largest network of corporate kindergartens, serving more than 1,000 kindergartens around the world. According to this company, more than 90% of parents would not agree to leave the company with their kindergarten, and for more than 80% the opportunity to send their children to a corporate kindergarten has become a key factor in choosing a job,” continues Mr. Natapov. At the same time, investments in the niche are very impressive. For example, the same Bright Horizons received $2.1 billion in revenue in 2019.

In our country, departmental kindergartens have existed since the days of the Soviet Union. Now the classic structure of departmental kindergartens is more or less preserved only by the Russian Railways corporation. “The demand for it is due primarily as a personnel reproduction system with a year-round functioning system associated with the specifics of the work of railway workers,” Mr. Natapov notes.

The pioneer in caring for “corporate children” after perestroika was Home Credit Bank, which created Russia’s first kindergarten on the territory of an office complex in Obninsk in 2011. And seven years later, bankers opened a corporate group in one of the private kindergartens in Tomsk.

“We have large call centers in both Obninsk and Tomsk. A lot of young people work there, in particular, young women who have small children. Many mothers would like to leave the decree for work earlier, but they have no one to leave the child with. And getting a place in a municipal kindergarten is not so easy. As a result, we have found a solution that allows our employees to go to work when it is convenient for them,” comments Valeria Frantseva, Leading Specialist of the Strategic Communications Department of Home Credit Bank.

“The presence of a kindergarten in Obninsk gave our office an absolutely unique atmosphere. The kids have become part of office life. They congratulate employees on significant dates, arrange their own holidays, where they invite our employees. And in Tomsk, since the kindergarten is within walking distance from the office, it is very convenient for employees to bring children to the garden before work in the morning, and pick them up on the way home in the evening. Teachers are always in touch, you can call them at any time. Therefore, parents can work calmly, knowing that their child is supervised, fed, playing with kids and working with teachers,” she shared. Corporate kindergartens also operate under subdivisions of Evalar, Miratorg, Rostelecom and many others.

Not an easy task

However, opening a kindergarten is not an easy and expensive task, in addition to a team of qualified teachers, many more things will be required. “Organizations providing preschool education services are subject to mandatory state licensing and constant supervision by the Department of Education, Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other government agencies. The room and area (playgrounds) must meet certain strict requirements to ensure the safety of students, such as the number of floors, evacuation routes, a medical room, and there must also be sandboxes, canopies and small architectural forms (carousels, slides),” says Holly Roberts, co-founder British kindergarten Britannia School.

Practical experience confirms this. “We had to work hard to obtain licenses and various permits. Authorities issuing permits did not have such experience in practice. But we were supported by the mayor of Obninsk,” recalls Mrs. Frantseva.

However, there are other forms. For example, you can go into partnership with existing preschool institutions that already have the necessary licenses. “The Tomsk call center operates in a rented building; it would not be possible to open a full-cycle kindergarten there. Therefore, we came up with another option: we found a private kindergarten close to the office and agreed to create a corporate group for the children of Home Credit employees. The presence of various developmental programs has become decisive: here children draw, play music and physical education, and can visit the pool,” said Ms. Frantseva.

Another option is to open a children’s room or center in the office. They do not require licensing, and there are no such strict requirements for them, however, according to the rules here, children cannot be put to bed and fed. On the other hand, no one forbids putting a sofa in the room to relax, and eating with a parent during a lunch break. As a rule, such corporate children’s rooms are most in demand in the summer months, however, they also require close attention and investment.

There is also a less expensive way – “semi-corporate” consortium kindergartens. “They open in large business centers where the offices of large corporations are located: accordingly, parents-employees of these corporations bring their children to these preschool organizations before work and pick them up after. For example, this is how it works in the Krylatsky Hills business park in Moscow, whose residents are Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Huawei, Intel, Adidas, Johnson & Johnson,” said Mr. Natapov.

Experts predict that in the next five to seven years, the presence of a corporate kindergarten in a large company will become one of the main attracting factors for its potential and current employees, a sign of sustainable development, and indeed a sign of “good manners”. “Remember how in the 1990s the most competitive companies were those that provided their employees with health insurance.
