Daycare, after school programs and Summer camp for Syracuse families

If you live or work near Syracuse, and are looking for the right daycare or after school program for your children, it’s time to learn about TSL Kids Crew. Our programs are run by experienced counselors who prefer to acknowledge the way children develop, their physical and emotional needs and preferences. Our staff to children ratios are low to ensure you children get the attention they deserve. Also, coming in Summer 2023 we will have a Summer camp. More details, including location, to come at a later date. Want to learn more about TSL? Continue reading or contact us.

FAQs for our Before and After School Programs –
FAQs for our Daycare Program

School-Year FAQ

Do we pay less during months that include vacation weeks or are otherwise less than 4 weeks long either by accident or design?
No. Before and after school costs include 10 equal monthly payments that are not pro-rated for any reasons.

Do buses bring children to your location after school?
Yes. District buses will transport your children to our location, and parents are responsible for pick-up. In those locations where we are servicing the schools in-house, the kids will simply come down to us after school.

Do you provide a snack during your after-school program?
Though each site frequently does snack activities, we do not offer a formal snack daily. Children are allowed to bring their own snacks and eat them at their convenience. In select locations, Cohoes, Lansingburgh, snacks are provided by the school.

What is your after-school program like?
TSL employs an open play and age-integrated environment that mixes organized clubs and activities with lots of free play options. Recreational activities include indoor and outdoor play as well as gym play in locations where a gym is available. Be mindful that it is our culture at each site location that sets us apart from other programs.

What ages of children attend the after-school program?
Children in kindergarten through grade 6 participate in the TSL after-school programs. Some sites have students in grades 7 and 8 registered as well. And other sites service children from 3-5 years old. Check with us to see what your specific location offers.

What are your after-school hours?
We are open from drop-off until 5:30 p.m. daily at most locations. Some locations are open until 6 p.m.

Do you have homework time?
Yes. Each site location has its own homework time, which is a supervised time where children can sit and complete their homework under the direction of, and with the assistance of, an adult.

Are the kids separated by ages?
We do not separate children by age. Our philosophies are rooted in age-integrated and cooperative play. We foster a holistic community that is all-inclusive. Older children assist younger children, while younger children benefit from the modeling and assistance of older children.

Can I drop my kids in for a full day of care if I need last-minute care?
No. Children must be enrolled previously on our website to attend a full day of care or vacation week.

Are the staff members all screened for the safety of the kids?
Yes. All staff members submit multiple clearances as required by New York State Office of Children and Family Services or the Department of Health. Many of our staff members are year-round employees of TSL in our after-school programs.

How many instructors or staff members do you have at a site? What’s the ratio?
Our ratio is 1:10. Depending on the number of enrollees at each site, our staffing numbers vary.

How do you handle injuries or emergencies if a child gets hurt?
For cuts, bumps and scrapes, we use soap and water, ice packs, Band-Aids and TLC. Parents or 911 are called in the event of serious injury or sickness.

Do you accept DSS and WDI?
Yes, we work with local counties in their provision of government subsidies for families in need.

Daycare FAQ

How do I enroll?
Parents typically start with a phone call or by completing our tour request form on the website. Once a decision is made to enroll, parents will do so on the website using the daycare page (code protected). The two week deposit will be added to your account once a registration is filed.

Do we pay our weekly fee if we take a vacation?
Yes, you must pay each week, regardless of whether the child is in the program.

When do transitions occur?
Children are placed in Infant Room 1 for about 12 months and then move into Infant Room 2 for roughly 12 to 18 months. They spend roughly eight months in the early toddler room and then eight months in the older toddler room. They complete their journey in the pre-school room from ages 3 to 5.

Is there a nap time?
Yes. Each classroom has its own nap schedule.

Are children potty-trained?
Yes, each classroom has a bathroom, and potty training is encouraged and assisted.

Are the staff members all screened for the safety of the kids?
Yes. All staff submit multiple clearances as required by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

How many instructors or staff members do you have at a site? What’s the ratio?
Ratios vary per class. In this daycare group it is 1:4 for infants, 1:5 for toddlers and 1:7 for pre-school.

Do you have part-time-care options?
In some cases. Please inquire within.

Do you accept DSS and WDI?
Yes, we work with local counties in their provision of government subsidies for families in need.

RIM, February 3 – RIA Novosti, Sergey Startsev. Abnormal cold weather, heavy snowfalls and torrential rains that have come to the Apennines in recent days have led to the first casualties from bad weather in Italy, RIA Novosti correspondent reports. nine0003

On Friday, local media reported that the body of a 50-year-old homeless man was found on a street in Milan, who died at night from hypothermia. In addition, a 76-year-old pensioner died of a heart attack in Parma, who was forced to take up a shovel to clear the snow that blocked the courtyard of his house, and in Sicilian Syracuse, a one-year-old child became the victim of a car accident in a severe thunderstorm.

Now the wave of cold, which the local press calls “polar”, began to gradually shift from the north of Italy to the central regions of the country. According to meteorologists, temperatures are now recorded in many areas, which are indeed significantly below the norm, and warming is not expected before February 10. Last night in Milan, Turin, Bologna the air temperature was about 10-15 degrees below zero. nine0003

At dawn on Friday, snow fell on the northern outskirts of Rome, although it lasted only a few hours. However, according to weather forecasts, this rare weather event for the Eternal City will happen again on Saturday night, when snowfall may cover the entire capital.

Extreme cold and heavy snowfall caused serious problems in the Tuscany region, where several thousand people were left without electricity last night. Currently, specialists from the Italian Civil Defense Service and employees of the national electricity company Enel are hastily engaged in the elimination of accidents and the restoration of power supply in a number of Tuscan provinces. nine0003

The situation in the region of Emilia-Romagna has somewhat improved, on the roads of which on Thursday night about 60 trucks and vans were blocked due to snowfalls. In the same place, due to icing of the rails and snowfalls, two fast trains stood motionless almost all night, which caused panic among many passengers.

In general, the Italian railways are now in a critical situation, despite the fact that two days ago there was an operational plan to counter the bad weather. The national railway company Trenitalia introduced a second level of danger on Thursday, and 330 trains have already been canceled in the northern Italian region of Piedmont alone. At the same time, the prosecutor’s office of another northern region – Liguria opened a case on numerous violations in the work of local railways. nine0003

On the other hand, the situation in air transport has clearly improved over the past 24 hours. According to the National Civil Aviation Service, currently all airports in Italy, with the exception of the airport in Forli, are operating as usual, and flight delays have returned to normal levels.

Schools and kindergartens are still closed due to bad weather in many provinces of Italy, and even some universities, especially in the north of the country, have announced a temporary suspension of classes.

Abnormal cold also affected the schedule of the national football championship. Several matches have been canceled in recent days, and many matches scheduled for the upcoming weekend are now being rescheduled for daylight hours, most often at 3 pm.
