Tips for Protecting Children from Environmental Threats

Children and their toys | Motherhood

18 months Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti photographed children around the world with their most precious possessions.

The ToyStories project (Toy Stories) demonstrates that regardless of the country and conditions of residence, all children of the world at this age want one thing – to play. However, the preferences, habits and behavior of children from different parts of the world vary.

Gabriel notes that children from developed countries and wealthy families are more jealous of their toys and for a long time did not let the photographer near them, did not allow them to play, protecting their “treasures”. While children from poor countries willingly and easily shared their favorite toys, even if it was a single teddy bear.

But there is something in common between all the children who took part in the project. Their favorite toys are a reflection of the life the family lives. Interests and professions of parents, daily worries and labor duties of family members directly influence the choice of favorite toys. Thus, Gabriele Galimberti’s photo project “Toy Stories” is a kind of serious anthropological study.

Ratings of the best and worst US states for Russians to live in 2022

America does not cease to be a cult state for potential immigrants from Russia. Every year it is visited by millions of Russians, who in the process are eyeing the country in order to move to permanent residence. As you know, the American territory is divided into states – they differ from each other in terms of living standards, infrastructure, climate, and security.

The best US states are well developed and have strong economic indicators, so we offer a rating of suitable places to live for the Russian-speaking population.

TOP 5 best US states in terms of living standards in 2022

New York, California, Florida, Texas, Hawaii were in the ranking of popular and best US states for immigration in 2022. What features make them attractive, we will explain further.

5. New York

In the list of the largest US states, New York is in 4th place. It is densely populated and multinational, as well as the largest financial center in the United States. It is in the city of New York that the largest banking and insurance institutions, trading enterprises, and international corporations are located. It is the cultural capital of the world, striking with its trendy and unique atmosphere.

The local locations are the most explored and recognizable in the world. Other major cities in this state are Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, Yonker, Albany.

When it comes to safety, the area is quite contrasting due to the presence of more than 200 nationalities from all over the world. Being close to different cultures and strata of the population provokes a different type of crime – these are pickpockets, robberies, violence. But in general, good police work and the number of law-abiding citizens still make it possible to live comfortably.

The climate in New York is temperate continental with the influence of a subtropical cyclone. There are four full seasons, between which precipitation is evenly distributed. The city itself is located in the northeast near the confluence of the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean – in connection with which storms are observed.

Infrastructure and real estate prices

It is generally accepted that it is better to move to New York, there is the Russian quarter of Brighton Beach and many areas with affordable real estate (Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn), where there is a good infrastructure (many kindergartens, schools, shops, cafes, maintenance and repair services). In fact, a huge number of citizens do not have their own housing in this state, especially immigrant immigrants.

Married couples with children rent an apartment, and without a family, they share it with tenants. The reason for this is high housing prices, and at the same time the most active rental and real estate market.

The average cost of a rented apartment is from $ 500 – 10,000. In the Bronx / Brooklyn / Queens, you can buy quite decent apartments of 55 square meters. m for $ 80,000 – this is with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. The most expensive property for sale in Manhattan ranges from $125,000 to $169,000,000.

Education

The US preschool system is considered enterprising and comfortable. For example, to create a kindergarten, you need to obtain a license and have a well-equipped area. Sometimes kindergartens are understood as a residential apartment, the owner of which received a license and at the same time the right to look after the neighbor’s children. Kindergartens and schools are attached to districts, but parents have the opportunity to send their child to any institution they like.

New York is the best place for students, it is famous for the most prestigious universities, which are included in the Ivy League. This is the famous Columbia and Cornell universities. The city has many colleges, vocational schools, art academies, universities.

Work and salary

Mostly they move to New York for a well-paid job and career growth, which means that the state is undoubtedly for ambitious people. At the same time, ordinary people will also be able to find work: there are many enterprises, factories, transport and logistics companies, shops, restaurants, cafes, snack bars and much more. Minimum salary $28,000 per year, average salary $114,000 per year, high salary $508,000 per year.

4. California

California is home to 39million people, which puts it in first place in terms of population in America. It is the exact opposite of other states, we can say that this is the most popular place to move to the United States. It attracts two contingents of people – those who dream of living in a warm paradise and those who yearn for a career in the field of culture and the entertainment industry. The most popular cities for moving are Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose.

Due to the fact that in California the racial composition is diverse and there are more than 2 million illegal immigrants, crimes of various kinds are recorded. Most of the illegal immigrants are in Mexico and Latin countries.

Climatic conditions in California are the most favorable – there are two seasons, hot (from April to October) and wet (from November to March). The geographical location in the west endowed California with hills and lowlands: somewhere subtropical climate, and somewhere Mediterranean.

Infrastructure and real estate prices

The socio-economic development in a multi-million state at the highest level, here you can see everything that personifies the “American dream”. Huge mansions with swimming pools, apartments with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, a cool car fleet, luxury boutiques, amazing offices, exclusive vacation spots, living close to Hollywood stars.

The housing stock is mainly represented by individual houses with garden and house plots. There are skyscrapers, but it is still more popular to live in a rented and own house / mansion / condominium.

It is possible to buy housing in a comfortable and quiet quarter for $100,000 (2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms). In an expensive neighborhood, near the ocean or attractions, the range of prices is the most unlimited: from 45 million to 160 million dollars.

Education

The American general education program is designed for 10 classes, plus 11.12 classes for university preparation. Often, Americans in California receive a high school diploma at their full 16 or 18 years of age. Those who have moved can go to study at a community college (local college), where in 2 years you can get special training in any profession.

California also has a huge number of art academies, creative schools and courses, and universities. Here they study singing, acting, directing, stand-up, writing.

Work and salary

The labor market in California is one of the most developed, it is not difficult to find a job. Without education, you can get a job in the service sector, logistics, transportation, catering. With education and knowledge of English, there are even more opportunities – creativity, culture, business, finance, tourism. The median income of Californians is between $65,000 and $133,000 a year.

3. Florida

Florida also leads among the warm and prosperous states. Its main advantages are primarily called a favorable climate, mild winters, beautiful terrain, access to the Gulf of Mexico, the Strait of Florida and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, a pleasant tax regime. As many people know, there is no Income Tax (income tax) in Florida, but on the other hand, Sales Tax (sales tax) is higher here. If you look from the position of moving, then here, in terms of price, it is more comfortable than in California and New York.

It is better to live in metropolitan areas – Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, including safe towns – Marco Island, Parkland, Weston. With regard to security, they can be described from several angles. There is crime in the unfavorable criminal neighborhoods that exist in almost every state in the United States. Given that floods, tornadoes and hurricanes often occur here, the weather conditions are quite extreme.

Florida’s climate attracts immigrants from all over the world. For the most part, there is humid subtropical and tropical, in some areas – oceanic and monsoon. A warm winter with a temperature of +10 … +20 degrees gives the area a beautiful green landscape. There is a minus that the largest amount of precipitation falls here and, above all, it is showers and hail. This includes frequent thunderstorms.

Infrastructure and real estate prices

Florida, even for the Americans themselves, is a cherished dream – especially for residents of cold regions. Here there are not only people of different nationalities, but also of different social levels. Many retirees move for the cozy sunny atmosphere and marvelous beaches. Married couples choose Florida because of the excellent infrastructure for children: the famous amusement park Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, Zoo Miami are among them.

It is worth noting that due to climatic features, the region is characterized by destructive cataclysms. The city is equipped and continues to improve its infrastructure so that there is less damage and problems.

The real estate market in Florida is well developed and there is housing for every taste and budget. You can live in a mobile wagon, a small house, a luxury villa or a premium apartment. Prices vary from $50,000 to $210,000,000

Education

Florida has a huge number of kindergartens, located in a beautiful area, they have everything you need for the youngest and oldest groups. Preparatory programs are practiced, there are classes not only for the development of mathematical and language abilities, but there are also classes for sports interests. What is nice, children spend a lot of time outdoors in cozy areas.

School education is carried out at the proper level. Students can enter the strongest colleges and universities in the United States, where they will receive serious training in any desired profession.

Jobs and Salaries

Florida is an interesting state for job hunting and business development. Industries predominate – tourism, international trade, aviation, construction, agriculture.

You can work in famous restaurants and get good tips, participate in the development of new lands, grow citrus fruits and vegetables, work as a technician in an aerospace company, be a realtor, and be in a rental business (real estate, cars, yachts). Common middle class salary $52,000 to $82,500.

2. Texas

It is not uncommon for immigrants from Russia to move to Texas, one of the largest and most prosperous states, which ranks second in terms of population and territory. In ethnic terms, it is too colorful – among the 29 million citizens you can meet the British, French, Mexicans, Czechs, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indians, Japanese. A multifunctional economy and the priority of such industries as medicine, technology, education, agriculture, and farming increase the standard of living every year.

Safe and developed cities of Texas – Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Killeen, Beaumont, Brownsville. They have a low level of violence and crimes against property, while others can be faced with robbery, drug addicts, shoplifting, breaking into residential spaces.

Weather conditions in Texas are divided into subtropical and tropical zones – South, continental – North and Center. The temperature in winter is from +1…+15 degrees, in summer +25…+30 degrees. Tropical cyclones and tornadoes spoil the picture of a favorable climate.

Infrastructure and real estate prices

Texas is described as megacities, urban and suburban environments, numerous parks, rivers, coastlines, major sports grounds. It houses hundreds of wineries, barbeque restaurants, concert venues and museums. This is a unique and distinctive state with good infrastructure for people of any family status to live. Compared to other top states, Texas has affordable housing and food/clothing/leisure prices.

Real estate prices are simply discouraging with their range. For example, in the countryside you can buy small studio-type houses for $9,000, of course they look provincial. In megacities, real estate is sold mainly in comfort and premium class, so prices are much higher. Condominium housing starts at $35,000, mansions in beautiful and well-groomed neighborhoods range from $150,000 -175,000. Pre-school and school education is organized and conducted at a fairly high level, there is no shortage of places. School graduates can enter colleges, universities, and also get into one of the top 5 universities – Technological in Labok, Rice University, the University of Texas and College Station, Houston University.

Work and salary

The range of job positions covers all areas of life and the economy, which creates a rich labor market. Back in Texas, there are a huge number of clinics, medical centers specializing in a variety of diseases. Also within its boundaries are branches of IT corporations: IBM, eBay, Dell, Apple, PayPal. Including in the state there are the largest Research Centers, where scientists are working on new developments.

There are professions that require workers remotely. The diverse natural landscape and soil composition favor the continuous development of agriculture and animal husbandry. Common wages in Texas $44,000 – $80,000.

1. Hawaii

The greenest state is located on the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean, its eponymous name is Hawaii. Mostly Americans from the continent move there, as well as Japanese, Filipinos, Chinese, Russian immigrants go the same way (they move there after some time of residence on the American continent).

There are a lot of consolidated niches for doing business, which is why some Russians want to emigrate there. Nevertheless, the basis of the economy is tourism and the service sector, which inflates the cost of living, including well-developed agriculture, forestry, and cattle breeding.

Hawaii has a low crime rate, yet it is a sparsely populated region with 1.5 million permanent residents. If you take the statistics, then 1000 people. there are 3 violent crimes that are committed in disadvantaged and backward neighborhoods.

Hawaii is one of the most beautiful states with the best tropical climate. It’s nice that during the year there is almost the same weather: in summer + 29 degrees, in winter +26. Most of the precipitation falls in the Northeast near the mountains; tropical winds (trade winds) also blow.

Infrastructure and real estate prices

Hawaii is a promising region for living today. Over the past decades, the island has undergone serious urbanization. First of all, roads were repaired and asphalted, cozy quarters were built, and the largest retail chains appeared. The chain of housing, tourist, entertainment, beach facilities continues to line up. Serious work is underway to install engineering networks, sewerage, disposal of hazardous and hazardous waste, and strengthening dams.

The housing stock in this US state is diverse, there are suburban and urban real estate. Married couples with children who have moved choose mansions with a plot and a parking lot. Young people prefer view apartments, small villas, condominiums. Of course, in such a heavenly place, real estate is expensive. For example, a tiny house or studio costs $58,000, larger houses $87,000, and villas and mansions $130,000 to $25,000,000. Children receive an American education that meets the standards of the country. The institutions are located in the most beautiful places, have their own parks, gardens and playgrounds. School and parent picnics are often held, where issues of education and progress of children are discussed. In the Hawaiian cities of Honolulu, Hilo, Kahului, there are colleges and universities.

Jobs and salary

The state is running a lot of social and economic development programs, expanding the scope of activities, there are more and more industries. Along with this, the labor market is growing rapidly and now the list of professions has become much wider. Currently, sellers, builders, cooks, medical staff, administrators, secretaries, managers are required. The average income of residents is estimated at $ 51,000 – 73,000 per year, a good income is $ 122,000.
