Recent Review:

Lala is the best director I have ever had for my children. My oldest went here for awhile then i switched now my younger to go here. I will say this is the only daycare center I will trust with my kids and Lalais very involved in the daycare center and is always there during drop-off and pick up and the infant teachers rock so does the mobile infants teachers and the twos and three and four year old teachers. All the teachers are so kind and very friendly and they will always be there to answer questions and they tell you truth and they will listen to you as the parent. Lala is an amazing director and I love the relationship that i have grown with the daycare its self. I don’t have to worry about nothing when i drop off in the morning because i know that my kids are being treated well and loved and cared for while i am at work….

Freshman/Sophomore Program

Our freshman program provides an opportunity for infants and toddlers to grow in a stimulating environment that meets their physical and psychological needs. We understand they grow at their own rates. We track, watch and encourage them as they reach their various developmental milestones.

We establish a healthy, nurturing, safe and protective environment for our infants to feel safe. We encourage social play, dramatic play, music awareness and communication through simple sign language, before verbal skill development.

The program helps children learn socialization, gross and fine motor skills, and language and cognitive skills. The activities in this program will help infants and toddlers improve their exploration skills, and gain strength and confidence to participate in more learning opportunities in the future.

Junior Program

Toddlers are primarily concerned with developing and understanding who they are. Beginning at 12-14 months, identity becomes the dominant theme for them. Developing this sense of self has a lot to do with their desire and drive for independence and control. Whether toddlers are still teetering with a wide-based gait, confidently getting around on two legs, or standing only with assistance, they are busy “standing up for themselves. ” They are also busy exploring the world from their new, upright vantage point plunging ahead full speed before figuring out how to stop. They are fascinated by words and language and they want to imitate everything we do. Therefore it is important to have positive models in the classroom and every opportunity for them to discover and explore and be guided to understand the environment that is around them. At Step Ahead Childcare, we understand toddlers! We provide them plenty of opportunities to explore, to develop language skills, build vocabulary, and develop an awareness of others through their play, observation, and exploration.

Senior Program

Two year old’s are beginning to recognize peers and adults outside of their caregivers as people of interest. They begin to develop parallel play and may dabble for moments in cooperative play. They are fascinated with their environment and ask questions about what and where. They can recognize familiar objects, pictures, and their favorite books. They make choices and demand independence. They want to show you what they can do and they want your full attention.
At Step Ahead Childcare, we understand your two year old and his or her desire to explore and learn. It is imperative now in their development that they are getting positive attention and are in a classroom which has healthy and consistent boundaries, with a strong model in the classroom. Children at age two are testing these boundaries on a continual basis; it is here that they begin to learn appropriate social behaviors and interactions, with their peers and caregivers. We acknowledge their frustrations, get down on their level when we talk to them, and offer redirection when they are frustrated. We also work on potty training and basic self help skills so that they begin to build a healthy independence from parents and caregivers.

Pre-K / Preschool Program

Inquisitive minds ask why. Three-five year olds are inquisitive all the time. They begin to have more focused play that lasts longer and is more consistently cooperative. They are recognizing that words are symbols that are different and have meaning, and when you put words together they make stories. They are able to tell you in complete sentences what they like and what they want.

They are building fine motor skills, recognition, of social skills, and independence. We encourage children at Step Ahead to build self-esteem and awareness for themselves and others through classroom responsibility. Part of this process is building a healthy independence and in this we incorporate logical thinking and problem solving. At this age the children are beginning to develop special friendships. They will learn to interact with their peers rather than near their peers. Group activities are extended and academic introduction will begin to take place.
This is a time when much of a child’s basic concept understanding will be determined. Here at Step Ahead, we take the time to build each developmental milestone in the children that attend our school, this ensures when they reach the critical age of four they are ready to retain and understand the concepts that will be taught and will be well prepared for Kindergarten. We believe that by building their independence, we equip them to think for themselves, ask meaningful questions, and have higher level cognitive thinking skills. We believe in taking the time to prepare your whole child.

We introduce and expose the children to written, visual, verbal, and physical activities involving the alphabet and early literacy skills. Our curriculum consists of arts and crafts, songs and games, science and cooking projects, language, mathematics, multi-cultural activities, and an introduction to electronics. The children develop gross motor skills through creative movement classes and outside play.

Walkie Talkie: Portable Radios

What are the advantages of portable radios (Walkie Talkie) over cell phones, apart from free communication? Firstly, instant communication – you press the button, and you are immediately heard. Secondly, the ability to simultaneously communicate with a large company – no need to call everyone in turn. And thirdly, radio stations work where cell towers have not yet appeared. In general, they are indispensable in ski resorts, hiking and other outdoor activities.

Alexander Grek

The first question people ask when buying a portable radio is whether it will be compatible with friends’ radios. Note that the purchase of a radio station from the same manufacturer, and even the same model, does not guarantee compatibility. But after reading this article, anyone can not only choose the right radio station, but also boldly advise their friends. So, let’s begin.

Do not self-medicate! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

Frequency range

The main compatibility problems arise from the mismatch of frequencies allocated for amateur radio communications in different countries of the world. In America, for example, it is 462-467 MHz, in Europe – 460 MHz, in Russia – 433 MHz. In our country, stations of the American standard are mainly distributed, less often – Russian and almost no European ones. This explains the amazing purity of the air, for example, when skiing in a ski resort in the Alps with stations purchased in Russia. Alas, this has not only pluses, but also minuses: in which case the rescuers will not hear you either.

So the first thing you should do is find out what band your friends’ stations are on. Regardless of the brand, all stations on the same band will hear each other. But there are no multi-band radio stations. And know that if you use an American or European radio station on the territory of Russia, no plane will fall from this. Shooting down a plane is not easy. TechInsider guarantees.

Power

Well, we have decided on the range. Now let’s define power. In many countries, including Russia, the permitted power is 0. 1 W. It is enough for communication at a distance of a maximum of 1-1.5 km, and even then with line of sight. In principle, at such a distance you can do without radio stations – just shout loudly. But increasing the power to 2 W allows you to communicate at distances up to three kilometers, and with 4 W – up to five kilometers!

Curious that radios with these characteristics can be easily found on the open market, although the permitted power is only 0.1 W? How so? Manufacturers get around this ban very simply – most radios have a power switching mode in the menu. If Lo – then those same 0.1 W, and if Hi – then someone will do their best. For example, a common radio station Midland G-225 produces 2 watts, and Midland GXT-400 – 4 watts. But all of the above applies to European brands.

At home Walkie-Talkie

The founder of this type of device, Motorola, which made the word “walkie-talkie” a household name, everything is different. The fact is that the American amateur radio range is divided into two sub-bands: FRS (Family Radio Service) and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). The first is limited to a signal power of 0.5 W, the second is limited to 5 W. As a rule, channels 1 to 7 and 15 to 22 in Motorola radios operate in the GMRS band, and channels 8 to 14 operate in the FRS band. Therefore, it is better not to use the latter – they are too weak. On the other hand, some models, such as the Motorola SX-700, have double keys, when you press the lower part of which, even in the GMRS band, the station operates at a reduced power of 0.5 W to save battery power.

Subculture

Let’s say you have decided on the country of manufacture, bought radio stations of the same frequency standard, but again found that they do not work together. It’s time to learn about subchannels, or subcodes.

The first walkie-talkies were all-analog devices, and channel separation was done by simple frequency separation. This solution had a big drawback – the number of channels was limited to the allocated frequency range: as a rule, it did not exceed 70 channels. In a city or a crowded resort, this led to several groups working on one channel, which is rather inconvenient.

With the advent of digital signal processing, it became possible to organize up to 121 subcodes on one channel. If we multiply the number of channels by the number of subchannels, we get the total number of available independent groups – several tens of thousands. You can always find an empty niche for yourself and your friends. But in order to be heard, you need to set not only the general channel, but also the subchannel, or subcode.

What if you have old radios in your company that don’t support subchannels? Then set only the “0” subchannel on the new ones – you can also communicate with old radio stations on it. The zero subcode has another interesting feature – it listens to ALL subchannels.

Useful tips

As we wrote above, you need to choose a radio station of the exact standard that your friends use. If there are none, you can try to stop at the domestic range – however, there are few offers in this sector, moreover, models, as a rule, have a very unpretentious design.

But let’s say stations are bought, channels and subchannels are set up. What is usually the first mistake of a novice “radio amateur”? The person starts talking and only then presses the largest button on the side – the PTT, or the PTT (Push To Talk) button. As a result, the interlocutor does not hear the beginning of the sentence. As a rule, he does not even hear the end – the button is released before he has time to finish. And it often happens that they don’t hear you at all – they just don’t have time to get the walkie-talkie out of their backpack or pocket.

Experienced signalers do this. Press the “Call” (or Call) button and wait. The receiving party has time to stop, get a radio station from the backpack and answer. Moreover, he presses the PTT before speaking, and releases it after he finishes.

In case you get lost and no one in your group can hear you, it’s useful to learn a new feature – channel scanning. When you press the Scan key, the radio starts to sequentially cycle through all channels, dwelling on each active one for 5 seconds. If you press the PTT button, scanning stops and you remain on that active channel. When you press the Scan key again, scanning resumes from where it left off.

Tuning radio stations

After a purchase, you often want to somehow improve your purchase. Radio stations are no exception. The first thing that comes to mind is batteries. The fact is that most stations are equipped with nickel-cadmium (or nickel-metal hydride) batteries, the main drawback of which is the “memory effect”. To achieve maximum capacity, they need to be discharged to zero (and usually a complete discharge catches you at the most inopportune moment) and only then recharged. Modern city dwellers are spoiled for mobile phones with the latest lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged whenever you want. Most radios allow you to use AA batteries, instead of which brand new lithium batteries are fine.

Headsets also came from the cellular world. On the one hand, voice-activated VOX headsets are very convenient – no need to climb into your bosom in snowy gloves. But, as practice shows, experienced extreme sportsmen do not use them – they are constantly triggered by the wind, or even just from an ordinary sneeze. One big headache for the whole company.

But what we strongly discourage you from is trying to replace the complete antenna with a longer one. Communication will not only not improve, but even worsen – the size of the antenna is strictly proportional to the wavelength on which the radio station operates.

Well, that’s about it. We hope we didn’t confuse you too much.

Home Equipment Best Walkie Talkie: Test Top 10 Walkie Talkies

After weeks of rigorous testing and testing under various conditions, we decided that the walkie talkie Midland GXT1000VP4 is the best choice available to the consumer today « Walkie-Talkie “. Among the ten contenders, she came out on top due to her undeniable versatility, range and a huge list of additional features – including moisture resistance, the ability to make group calls and receive weather forecasts directly from specialized channels. It was Midland that eventually earned the title of the best model. Of the budget options, we considered the Tacklife MTR01 radio an excellent choice.

Content of article

And now for the details. ..

Selection of finalists

Walkie-Talkie (walker talker) is a common name for portable radios, which is widely used in English-speaking countries.

When experimenting to find the best walkie-talkie, keep in mind that most professional radio stations require a license to use – a “ham radio license” . A license is not that difficult to obtain, but for this, for example in the United States, the approval of the Federal Communications Commission is required. Two-way radio operation on General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) channels requires the user to have a license. This requirement was introduced due to the potential health hazard posed by high power radio waves. This may be too drastic a choice for the average ham, so we have limited ourselves to models that should perform at the highest level without requiring official approval.

These radios operate on the FRS, or Family Radio Service, frequencies. Two models from our list, Midland and Motorola , are capable of both GMRS and FRS frequencies. This can be very useful if you plan to become a license holder in the future for the sake of increased scope and higher communication privacy.

So, to create an initial list of candidates for the “best walkie-talkie” award, we went to the Reddit forums in the r/CampingGear and r/BuyItForLife subsections to find opinions and comments from radio amateurs on what equipment they can recommend. We then headed to Amazon for details, specs, and reviews, both good and bad. We found that even the best-selling models have a large number of negative comments, up to complaints about complete inoperability. For our study, we chose the most popular radio models with a high percentage of positive reviews.

Additional features among different brands make some Walkie-Talkie models more suitable for certain activities. Features such as weather forecasts, SOS and moisture resistance can be incredibly useful when traveling.

We decided to rate our models in three categories: Best Walkie Talkie, Best Budget Walkie Talkie and Best Walkie Talkie for Kids. This is because people use walkie-talkies for a variety of purposes, and we wanted to take into account all the basic characteristics to help you choose the best option for your needs. Floureon $ 7/10 3 AAA*** D Retevis RT628 $ 7/10 3 AAA E Motorola Mh330R $$$$ 6/10 AC/3 AAA F BaoFeng BF-888S $$ 7/10 AC G Proster $$ 7/10 USB H Arcshell $$ 7/10 AC I ESYNiC $$ 7/10 USB J Swiftion $$ 6/10 3 AAA

* – AC outlet

In addition to the opportunity to feel like a professional and talk in ciphers for no reason, imitating secret agents from films, walkie-talkies can be widely used in everyday life. The most obvious examples of their use include camping and traveling, skiing or snowboarding, cruising, hunting, hiking, and communicating with employees at work or even neighbors if necessary. In areas where there are problems with mobile communication, walkie-talkies are an excellent replacement for mobile phones, an ideal choice for keeping in touch with comrades using the magic of radio waves.

Also, walkie-talkies will help you not to lose your children playing in the neighbor’s yard or around the camp. Just imagine, with a walkie-talkie, your children will no longer have any chance of being late for a family dinner!

Important points to consider

In the top 10 walkie talkies we studied, each walkie-talkie has a wide range of features and strengths. Choosing such a device for yourself, it is very important for you to understand what exactly you expect from it and why you need it. The following parameters should be taken into account:

Effective range

How far does the equipment work? Is it possible to understand the interlocutor at a great distance? Are there a lot of extraneous noises?

Battery capacity

How long does a charge last? Can the batteries be replaced with spares while traveling?

Additional features

What makes this model different from the rest? Does the model provide such important “buns” for you: a wide choice of frequencies, safety, and is the walkie-talkie easy to use?

Fortunately, we have already done all the research and testing to make your choice easier.

At the same time, the world of radio communication is not divided into black and white, and if one walkie-talkie can be inferior to others in some parameter, it can also surpass them in other areas. For example, handheld radio Motorola Mh330R showed the best results in terms of operating time . On the other hand, her signal transmission range is lame. It is small in comparison with instances of even lower cost.

Regardless of why you need a walkie-talkie, we have found that range and high sound quality are the most important features. What is the point of running a Walkie-Talkie for a long time if it can only produce noise and interference? However, powerful batteries or the ability to replace them with spares are worth considering if you rarely get to charge your devices, such as during long trips or overnight camping trips. Different models have their own compromise sides, so we tried to choose among them those that, by the sum of the parameters, are the best choice.

Some equipment has a high percentage of positive reviews, but the quality and quantity of these reviews leaves much to be desired, so we were skeptical about these products during the tests.

Walkie-Talkie radio station with three transistors (27 Mhz)

Among the types of radio stations authorized by the Ministry of Communications for personal communication is the so-called type “D” – children’s intercoms, for the use of which special permission is not required. For them, a frequency of 27140 kHz is allocated with a transmitter power of not more than 10 mW and amplitude modulation with a frequency band of 300 Hz-3 kHz.

Specifications

  • transmitter power in antenna – 10 mW;
  • frequency – 27 140 kHz;
  • modulation – AM 300 Hz—3 kHz;
  • receiver – super regenerative;
  • receiver sensitivity – 45 μV;
  • communication range, not less than – 80 m.

Schematic diagram

The “heart” of the radio station is the RF generator on VT1. When receiving, it operates in the super-regeneration mode, and when transmitting, it operates in the continuous generation mode with quartz frequency stabilization and collector modulation. In the receive mode (in the position SA1 shown in the diagram), the signal received by the WA1 antenna through the extension coil L1 and the anti-parasitic resistor R1 is fed to the communication coil L2 of the detector.

For direct current, the mode of the transistor VT1 is set by the base divider R6, R8 and resistors R4, R2. The latter, together with C5, C2, set the frequency of suppression of the superregenerator. The L3C1 circuit tunes the detector to the desired frequency, and the C3R5C7 circuit sets the PIC depth. During a flash, due to an increase in the collector current VT1, the capacitor C2 is slightly discharged, and C5 is recharged, which leads to a decrease in the current VT1 and a breakdown in generation. Then C2 begins to recharge through R2, and C5 is discharged through R4 until the collector current VT1 increases so much that another flash is formed.

The detected useful signal, mixed with the damping sawtooth signal, is fed through the isolation capacitor C4 to the volume control R3, combined with the power switch. Further, through the low-pass filter R14C14C15, which cuts off the blanking frequency, the useful AF signal is fed to the ultrasonic frequency converter, made on transistors VT2, VT3. The output stage on VT2 operates in class A at a collector current of about 20 mA. An output transformer T1 was used to match the low-resistance dynamic head.

In the transmission mode, when the switch SA1 is pressed, the transistor VT1 switches to the stable generation mode with quartz frequency stabilization. The dynamic head BA1 is connected directly to the base of the transistor VT3 through a decoupling capacitor C13, which ensures its high amplification and allows you to obtain an amplitude of the RF voltage on the VT2 collector of about 1-2 V, which is sufficient for effective modulation of the transmitter on VT1. The SA2 button is used to transmit a call signal or Morse code. When it is pressed, the UZCH is excited at a frequency of about 1 kHz.

Fig. 1. Schematic diagram of a simple toy transceiver for the 27 MHz range, three transistors.

Parts and installation

Transistor VT1 does not have a full domestic counterpart, but is quite successfully replaced by KT368A or another low-power transistor with a cutoff frequency of 500-1000 MHz. As VT2, VT3, any low-frequency transistors, for example KT3102, are suitable, it is only important that VT3 has a current transfer coefficient of at least 300. DC windings did not exceed 100 ohms.

BA1 – any small-sized speaker or emitter from stereo phones, the latter, with smaller dimensions, works better as a microphone and not bad as an emitter. The antenna is telescopic, not less than a meter long. Switch SA1 – PKN-61 or P2K, button SA2 – any non-fixed.

Coil L1 – frameless, contains 25 turns of PEL wire with a diameter of 0.5 mm, wound on a mandrel with a diameter of 6 mm. Coils L2, L3 are wound on a common frame with a diameter of 5 mm with a tuning core M50VCH PRZx0.75×7.5.

In the absence of such a core, a frame with a core from the input coils of HF broadcast receivers can be used. L2 contains 4 turns of 0.36mm PEL wire and is wound over L3 which contains 2×6 turns of the same wire. The most critical to the relative position of the elements are the RF generator on VT1 and the SA1 switch.

Setting up the transceiver

Start tuning in receive mode. By rotating the core L3, the characteristic noise of the super-regenerator is achieved in BA1. If this fails, then you need to choose the value of the capacitor C3 *.

After the appearance of the regeneration, it is necessary to check its persistence with a change in the power supply from 7 to 9 V and with different degrees of extension of the antenna. Sometimes it may be necessary to select the value of the base resistor R6. After that, the L3C1 circuit is tuned to a frequency of 27140 kHz. After that, it is necessary to check the operability of the transmitter, and at low power (carrier amplitude on L2 is less than 3 V), adjust the L3C1 circuit within a small range.

WALKIE TALK WITHOUT SECRETS | MODEL CONSTRUCTION

Headings Assistive devices

I have been developing home-made amateur radio structures for more than a year. And on the air, too, is not a novice. Since 1971 I have my own call sign: RA3QEJ.

I have a special fondness for “pocket” walkie-talkie radios. I am convinced of the prospects of such structures. Indeed, for almost anyone – from a farmer to a hang glider – a reliable and compact radio station, as they say, will never hurt.

I present to the readers and subscribers of “M-K” one of my latest developments, available for production in “home” conditions. Moreover, it does not require particularly scarce parts. And this is an important factor for do-it-yourselfers from the outback.

The radio receiver (see illustration) is assembled in a superheterodyne circuit. The value of the intermediate frequency is 465 kHz. The receiver is made mainly on the IC of the K174 series. Let’s take a look at his work.

The signal from the WA1 antenna through the connector XS1, the “reception-transmission” switch SB2 (shown in the “reception” position) and the coupling coil L1 enters the input circuit L2C2 of the radio frequency amplifier. Assembled on a double-gate field-effect transistor VT3, such an RF amplifier has a high input impedance and provides stable signal amplification. Resistor R8 limits the current drawn to the minimum possible. The amplified operating frequency signal is isolated in the L3C8 circuit and, through the L4 coupling coil, is fed to the frequency converter assembled on a DA1 chip of the K174PS1 type.

The receiver local oscillator is made on the same chip according to the scheme with stabilization by the ZQ1 quartz resonator. Moreover, the frequency of the latter is selected above or below the operating frequency of the radio station by 465 kHz. And the values of the capacitors C12, C13, C15 are selected so that the resonator is excited at the third mechanical harmonic.

Mixer load is resistor R15. The intermediate frequency signal is separated by a piezoceramic filter Z1 of the FP1P-061.08 type and fed to the DA2 microcircuit (acting as an amplifier, demodulator and noise suppressor signal amplifier) of the K174UR7 type. The L10C26 demodulator circuit is tuned to 465 kHz.

From pin 10 of the DA2 chip, the demodulated signal through the C30R21C34 filter enters the VLF, made on the DA3 K174UN4A. And then – on the dynamic head BA1.

The noise suppressor is made on a part of the DA2 chip, diodes VD3, VD4, VD5 and transistors VT7-VT9. It is made in such a way that the noise from output 10 DA2 is fed to the amplifier, pin 12. And from the “legs” 13 K174UR7, the amplified signal goes to capacitor C36, which transmits noise components much higher than the modulating frequency.

Circuit diagram, the implementation of which allows you to provide reliable personal radio communication in the range of 28-29. 7 MHz.

The noise component is detected by diodes VD3, VD4 and filtered out by capacitor C38. Moreover, the capacitance of the latter, along with the value of the input resistance of the transistor VT7, determine the time constant of the noise suppressor.

Next, the signal goes to the amplifier (transistors VT7, VT8). And after it – to the key (VT9), which shunts the ULF input in the presence of noise. The noise reduction threshold can be adjusted using a variable resistor R22.

Squelch operates at signal levels of 10 µV or more. As for the diode VD5 and the resistor R26, they serve to recharge the capacitor C38 during transmission. This is necessary so that no “pops” of noise occur during the transition to the receive mode.

The transmitter of the radio station is made completely on transistors. Moreover, according to a scheme that has proven itself in practice (see Fig.).

The signal from the microphone, which is used as a dynamic head BA1, is fed into the emitter of the transistor VT2. A microphone amplifier-limiter is assembled on VT1, VT2. From its output (R2), the signal goes to a low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency of 2–2.5 kHz, made on a VT4 transistor. But this is in the mode when SB1 is in the “upper” position (as in the diagram). When it is switched to the “lower” position, the node assembled on transistors VT1, VT2, VT4 works as a sinusoidal signal generator with a frequency of 1.5-2 kHz, which allows the tone call of the correspondent.

But let’s get back to the operation of the circuit in the microphone amplification mode. The low-frequency signal through the resistor R13 is fed to the varicaps VD1, VD2 and performs frequency modulation of the master oscillator. The latter is assembled on a VT5 transistor. Its frequency is stabilized by a ZQ2 quartz resonator (selected in the range of 26.967-27.281 MHz, in the area reserved for frequency modulation).

The quartz resonator is excited at the third mechanical harmonic. L7 compensates for the static capacitance of the quartz. And the coils L5 and L6 are used to accurately set the operating frequency and deviation, respectively. Concerning the contour L9C20, then it is tuned to the first harmonic of the quartz resonator, preventing the latter from being excited at this frequency. The bias of the transistor VT5 is set by the resistor R17 and is maintained at the required level by the stabilizer, made on the LEDs HL1, HL2.

The signal with the operating frequency is selected on the circuit L8C22 and through the capacitor C23 is fed to the base of the transistor VT6. The final stage, assembled on this semiconductor triode, operates in class C mode, which provides a fairly high efficiency.

The amplified VT6 signal through the filter C28L12C29C31L13C33, the “receive-transmit” switch button and the XS1 connector enters the WA1 antenna.

The radio is powered by four elements 316. Through the inductor L14, it is fed to the SA 1 button, which also switches the power supply circuits during the transition from reception to transmission.
