AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Greenwood Avenue KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • My son is four years old, and my daughter is one and both have been attending KinderCare since they were both three months old. It is very difficult decision for any parent to entrust someone else to care for their children, so when we found KinderCare, we were relieved and impressed. Our experience with KinderCare has been nothing but positive and they have made us feel welcome, and most of all my kids love to go! The staff truly takes the time to create a rewarding and educational experience for them. It is extremely reassuring to know that not only are they being well taken care of, but they are also learning and creating new friends and experiences as they grow. The staff really makes you feel that you are part of a family and for the extra mile to keep you informed on what your child is up to each and every day. The activities and Learning Adventures they provide are one of a kind and make each child feel included. They also have a ton of additional extra circular activities that you can sign your child up for. My husband and I are grateful that we found such a great and safe environment for our children and would recommend to anyone.

    Rebecca F. – KinderCare Parent
  • Both of my daughters have attended KinderCare in Torrance. My oldest daughter graduated Prekindergarten there 2 years ago and my youngest one will graduate Prekindergarten this June. She has been going there since she was 8 months old. I am VERY happy with the Teachers and Directors with how caring and loving they are. They are always supportive and keep me well informed of daily activities and my daughter’s progress. I feel extremely SAFE having my daughter here. I never have to worry about her safety. I know she is in excellent hands each day! I am happy with the curriculum and my daughter is well ahead/advanced for her age group, due to the daily learning that she has experienced at KinderCare all of these years. She loves her nap/quiet time each day and her healthy snacks provided by the Center are always great. I would definitely refer anyone I know to go to KinderCare Torrance. I am very happy my Daughter goes there!

    Cristy H. – KinderCare Parent
  • My Juliette started in October 2016. She is a firecracker so I was afraid she wouldn’t fit in. She was at a preschool in Torrance prior to KinderCare and noticed it was too strict and she was just not enjoying herself. At Greenwood not only did my Juliette become more social but she was herself. She gets to be a kid and play but also learn, there is flexibility for each child it is not so disciplinary. The teachers are so nice, loving and caring. She loves Ms Arlene, Ms Brittney from preschool, now while at Pre-K she loves Mrs Naz, Ms Melissa, Ms Ariel. The office ladies are so wonderful too. Ms Elvia and Ms Cynthia are dedicated and friendly. They always greet us with a smile, they ask how we are doing and help us with any questions or concerns regarding events, tuition, or my kids schedule. I love this pre-school. I can’t be happier and more at ease to know she is safe and well cared for while I am at work.

    Claudia A. – KinderCare Parent

Do you offer part-time schedules at Greenwood Avenue KinderCare?

Everybody’s schedule is different. We’re happy to offer quality, affordable part-time and full-time childcare. Drop-in care may also be available. Reach out to your Center Director to learn more.

How does naptime work at Greenwood Avenue KinderCare?

Our teachers meet every child’s needs during naptime. Our teachers know how to get babies to nap. In fact, they are pros at getting children of any age to nap. Visit our article on “10 Ways We Help Kids Get a Great Daycare Nap” to learn more.

Do you support alternative diets?

We strive to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we provide a vegetarian option at mealtime, take care to not serve common allergens and can adapt menus based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll work with you to figure out a plan.

Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?

We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

The article is devoted to the study of creativity of a teacher of preschool education. The aim of the study was to study the influence of motivating factors on the professional creativity of teachers. The developing subject-spatial environment was considered as the main indicator of the manifestation of creativity in the work of a teacher. Particular attention is paid to the influence of creative activity on the transformation of the subject space of the group on creative development and a change in the attitude of the educator to professional activity. The developing object-spatial environment of the kindergarten is considered from several sides: as a product of the teacher’s creativity, as a place of interaction between the teacher and children, as an area for the application of the teacher’s creative abilities.

The article was prepared on the basis of experimental research using methods of questioning teachers and monitoring their work. The study was conducted on the basis of two preschool institutions in the city of Ivanovo, Ivanovo region, 16 educators took part in it.

Scales for assessing the conditions of children’s creative activity in independent activities and in visual arts were used as tools. To study changes in the sources of professional motivation of teachers, a questionnaire developed by D. Barbuto and R. Skoll was used. The study consisted of two stages, each of which introduced a new motivating factor. After each stage, the sources of professional motivation of teachers were measured, the state of the developing environment of the group was assessed, and interaction was assessed during the lesson in fine arts, which was chosen as the most creative type of educational activity. Professional competition and the involvement of teachers in the dissemination of experience were used as motivating factors.

The results of our study showed that the use of these motivating factors contributed to the launch of the creative cycle among teachers, which resulted in creative changes in the organization of the subject space of groups, and improved interaction between the teacher and children in the classroom for fine arts. Creative manifestations in the subject space and interaction with pupils were also reflected in the motivational sphere of teachers.

Excerpt from Article

Creativity of a preschool teacher is an important factor influencing the success of his interaction with children, as well as satisfaction with professional activities. The developing subject-spatial environment of a kindergarten always attracts the attention of creative educators, because with its help you can not only increase the aesthetic appeal of a group room, but also make it interesting for children. Our study is connected with the study of the influence of activities on the organization of the subject space of the preschool group on the development of the teacher’s creativity, his attitude to work and children. The transformation of the developing environment will require teachers to acquire new knowledge and skills – self-education. Improving and changing the playing space, the teacher will have to pay more attention to the interests and needs of children, identify and take into account the characteristics of the group of preschoolers. We believe that everything created and implemented by a teacher can be recognized as necessary and correct only if it works for the development of the child, enriching his playing experience, and expanding cognitive interest. That is why it is very important to direct the teacher’s professional creativity towards children’s interests and needs, which is impossible without constant interaction between the teacher and the child. We suggested that this interest is one of the motivating mechanisms that drive pedagogical creativity. But not all teachers have a sincere interest in the child, so our task is to find another way to activate pedagogical creativity, which, by launching the creative cycle, will lead to the appearance of this interest in the educator. In this case, the developing environment will become the area of application of the teacher’s creativity, and the child will become a guideline and criterion for evaluation.

Creativity components of a preschool teacher

In order to determine what motivating mechanisms and forms of work with the team will contribute to the development of teachers’ creativity, it is necessary to consider in more detail the very phenomenon of creativity and its specifics in the work of a preschool teacher.

Creativity in the general sense is the process or result of creating a subjectively new thing. The main criterion that distinguishes creativity from manufacturing (production) is the uniqueness of the result. In modern psychology, there is another term – “creativity”, close to the concept of creativity. The concept of creativity was introduced by E. Torrance and means the ability to be creative in a broad sense, that is, the ability to find new solutions to problems, generate a large number of options for such solutions (Torrance, 1966). Currently, the concepts of creativity and creativity are accepted as identical, therefore, in our work, we will consider them identical. T. Lubart studied the creative potential of the individual. Based on his observations, he compiled a multi-component model in which he identified several components of creativity:

• intrinsic and extrinsic motivation;

• personality traits;

• intellectual abilities and divergent thinking (Lubart, 2005; 2009).

These components, according to Lubart, constitute the potential for creativity, which is influenced by environmental factors, reducing or increasing it (Meshkova, 2015). Based on the Lubart model, we can single out internal and external motivation as the main component of the creativity of a preschool teacher.
