The length of Miami Beach from north to south is approximately 13 kilometers, from west to east up to 2.3 kilometers. The islands are connected to the Miami mainland by several bridges. To the east of Miami Beach is the Atlantic Ocean, to the west (between the islands and the mainland) the northern part of Biscayne Bay. On the coast of the ocean are the famous beaches of Miami Beach.

The south side of the city, South Beach (also known as SoBe) is Miami Beach’s most popular area. South Beach has many hotels, nightclubs, restaurants and shops. This area is especially popular with tourists from Canada and Europe. Entertainment can be found here at any time, day or night.
The most famous street here is Ocean Drive. The length of the street is approximately 2.3 kilometers. The street is the center of the Art Deco district. A distinctive feature of the area are houses, examples of architecture of the early 20th century.

Airport

Miami International Airport (MIA) is located approximately 13 kilometers northwest of downtown Miami. Passenger and cargo flights are operated from the airport to the cities of America, Europe and Asia. In 2016, the airport served 44.9 million passengers.

The most convenient and cheapest ways to get to the airport (from the airport) are Metrorail (metro) and Metrobus (bus). Bus route 150 (Miami Airport Flyer Bus) runs from the airport to Miami Beach (South Beach). Travel time is approximately 30 minutes.

Orange Line Metrorail trains operate from Miami International Airport to Downtown, Brickell, Civic Center, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Dadeland, Hialeah, South Miami and Wynwood. Travel time is approximately 15 minutes.

Port of Miami

The Port of Miami is the largest cruise port in the world (by number of tourists served). In 2016, the port served 4.98 million passengers. The port has seven cruise terminals.

The port is located on Dodge Island, between downtown Miami and south Miami Beach.
The cruise terminals are approximately 7 miles (11 kilometers) from Miami International Airport and approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Public transport is available from the airport to the port’s cruise terminals. For example, you can get to downtown Miami on the yellow metro line (Metrorail) to Brickel stations, and then to the cruise terminals by bus (City of Miami Trolley, Coral Way). The Government Center or Historic Overtown / Lyric Theater metro stations are also within walking distance. The distance to the Carnival Cruise Terminal is approximately 1.8 miles (2.9 kilometers).

Some cruise companies have their own shuttles (buses) that take tourists to ships from the airport. You can use a taxi.
