AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Matthews KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Stanley Matthews rules of life – football.ua

Football.ua remembers one of the greatest English football players Stanley Matthews, his life principles and vivid statements.

From any point of view, Stanley Matthews is a unique football player. A man whose professional career lasted until the age of 50, the first owner of the Golden Ball in history, and who won the award at 41, a gentleman who has never received yellow and, especially, red cards, a legend about which Pele himself said: “Stanley Matthews showed us all how to play football.” nine0003

Matthews was endowed with many talents: at school he was considered almost an exemplary student, in sports he was practically unrivaled among his peers in running, and his father, a well-known lightweight boxer in Staffordshire, saw in his third son the continuer of his own tradition. But at the age of 13, Stanley made the final choice in favor of football.

I could play with the ball constantly, even in the dark under a street lamp

– My father was very attentive to my physical preparation. It was he who instilled in me the habit of regular training. nine0012

– I liked to get a small ball somewhere and play with it. Sometimes, in the butcher’s shop, they gave me a pig’s bladder, I inflated it and played, even in the dark under a street lamp.

The boy, who made his England debut in 1929 against Wales, was approached by such Midland giants as Wolverhampton, Aston Villa, West Bromwich and Birmingham, but Stoke City bypassed them all, offering 15-year-old Stanley, in addition to football , and a job in the club’s office for £1 a week. And since season-1931/32 began his professional career.

Matthews helped the “Potters” get out of the Second Division to the First (at that time – elite in England) and instantly became a universal favorite, not only in Stoke-on-Trent, but throughout England, playing for the national team of which he started in 1934.

An astonishing team commitment left Matthews with no chance of winning a single FA Cup at club level, even though he had plenty of offers. Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, Stanley, after a conflict with the management of Stoke, asked for a transfer, but the fans intervened, forcing the club to raise the salary of their leader and persuading Matthews to stay. And then the war began, forcing us to forget about professional football for seven years. nine0003

Matthews was stationed at RAF Blackpool but continued to play in the wartime league and cup for Stoke, Blackpool and Scottish Airdrienians, Moreton and Rangers, and made 29 unofficial appearances for England.

Stanley’s father died in 1945, taking two promises from his son: to take care of his mother and win the FA Cup. Matthews Jr. completed both, however, he won the FA Cup as part of Blackpool, where he moved in 1947.

At the age of 32, Blackpool manager Joe Smith jokingly asked if Stanley expected to last at least a couple more years. As a result, Blackpool reached the FA Cup final three times, and on the third attempt, at 1953rd, in a duel that went down in history as the “Stanley Matthews Final”, beat Bolton and took the trophy.

Many people thought I was crazy, but even when I was 37 I knew I hadn’t played my best football yet

In 1961, Matthews returned to Stoke City, lifted the team back to the First Division and retired at the age of 50 years and 5 days. In total Stanley made 355 official appearances in all competitions for Stoke (62 goals), 428 (18) for Blackpool and 20 for Toronto City on loan. nine0003

Matthews played 54 times (11 goals) in official matches for the national team, most of them in the post-war years, when England did not shine. And although he took part in the final tournaments of the world championships in 1950 and 1954, he won only 9 “home” British championships as part of the “lions”.

So what was so special about a football player who won almost nothing in his career and did not play in teams that are always in sight? For which he, already 41 years old, was awarded the first Golden Ball at 1956 (after all, it is clear that the choice of the first laureate was very careful, and not as sometimes happens today), and a year later they made the first Knight of the Order of the British Empire among active football players?

Matthews revolutionized football in a form, and it was he who began to play the game as we are now accustomed to seeing modern wingers play, because before Stanley, “wingers” acted in a more static manner.

It is said that Matthews had the only trick in his arsenal: a deceptive movement of the body and a departure in the opposite direction, which practically no one could cope with. This, of course, is a joke, but the fact remains: it was impossible to stop him alone. He was also phenomenally fast, and his passes from the flanks were meticulously accurate. nine0003

Fasting made me feel much better

– At one time I was advised to eat more salads and fruits, and this helped me a lot.

– On Mondays I abstained from food altogether, and fasting made me feel much better.

Matthews had a lot of his own “chips” in order to always be perfectly ready for matches. First of all, diet. He was a vegetarian, and every Monday he had a “fasting day”: he ate nothing, only drank a few pints of water. To warm up before matches, according to his teammates, he went out in specially weighted boots, which then allowed him to “fly” around the field in standard shoes in the game. And before each workout, he made an additional jog or walked 10-15 kilometers on foot (mainly along the beach or other sandy area). nine0003

Another feature of Stanley was that he practically did not engage in tough martial arts with an opponent, preferring to defeat him with skill, and certainly never answered rudeness for rudeness. Not surprisingly, he has not received a single card in his entire career. Another legendary Englishman, Gary Lineker, can boast of this, but Gary hung up his boots at 34, and Stanley at 50.

As soon as the defender hit me on the legs, I already knew that he was afraid of me0009

– As soon as the defender started to kick me in the legs, I already knew that I “did” him – he was afraid of me.

– Playing for 33 years and not earning a single warning is great in my opinion.

After ending his playing career, Matthews briefly coached Port Vale (by the way, he supported this team as a child, before fate linked him to Stoke City). In his autobiography, Sir Stanley wrote that when he started work, he expected to achieve what Dario Grady managed many years later in Crewe Alexandra (led the team from 1983rd to 2011), but did not work out.

As one of his former charges, Roy Sproson, later said, explaining Matthews’ failure, he trusted people too much, and those who did not deserve this trust and used it. But in African countries, where he went in the summer from the mid-50s to work with local kids, he really enjoyed it, and eventually earned the nickname “black man with a white face” there.

In 2000, Sir Stanley Matthews left this world, but remained forever with his native Stoke City – his ashes are buried under the central circle of the Britannia club stadium. nine0003

“This man taught us all how to play football,” said Pele. “He was a real gentleman, the like of whom we will never see again,” said Brian Clough. “Matthews used to get £20 a week, but I don’t think the entire British Bank owns enough money to appreciate him,” added Gianfranco Zola.

I made one big mistake – I stopped playing too early

– I wanted to play as long as possible because I was in love with football and full of enthusiasm. nine0012

– For over 80 years, football has been an integral part of my life. I loved him dearly.

– I made one big mistake in my life – ended my career too soon. I think I could play for a couple more years.

– You can’t just tell star players how to play and what to do on the pitch. You need to be able to use their strengths, allowing you to truly open up.
