6 ways to captivate preschoolers with physics: kindergarten teacher advises

Little children are endlessly on the move. But in physical education classes, ordinary movement is not enough. Discipline, interest, the ability to listen to the teacher are important here. How to conduct a physical education lesson so that young children both rest and understand that sports are not scary and even interesting? Yevgenia Belova, WIDE physical education teacher, tells.

Sport for the little ones is, of course, more of a game, an opportunity for children who have just been sitting for a long time (learning to read, cut or count), move a little and unload. But meanwhile, physical education in kindergarten and school is also the first step towards a healthy lifestyle. And what opinion the child will form during the first contact with physical culture, his attitude to loads in the future will largely depend. For some, physical education lessons become a nightmare and a test of strength, and for someone, a favorite lesson that develops into love for a real sport.

So, 7 tips from WIDE kindergarten physical education teachers on how to increase the interest of preschoolers in physical education.

1. “Do as I do, do with me, do better than me”

garden – educators and children). Moreover, up to 7-9 years old, children are very fond of repeating after significant adults. And if a coach, a teacher, and even mom and dad do exercises and show how to jump and do exercises correctly, this perfectly motivates the little ones to try to do the same. In WIDE, for example, during morning exercises in the garden, all teachers present do exercises with children

2. “And now like a bunny!”

Use story lessons! Agree, it is much more fun to jump over the stones of a fast stream or walk along a narrow plank over an abyss than just practice jumping and balance exercises. Children quickly get involved in the game and compete with joy who will quickly overcome the thorny path. Instead of the usual “and now bend over,” ask the children to show how the cat arches its back or how the bunny jumps.

3. Compete

Speaking of competitions. This element also helps to get kids excited about movement: kids love small team relay races where they can compete with friends in speed and agility! But it is important to always emphasize that losing does not mean that you are worse than the other team or did something wrong. Also, try to change team compositions so that children learn to interact with peers, support each other and work in groups.

4. Praise

Be sure to encourage your child after class: in our kindergarten, encouraging sports is part of the motivation system developed by our psychologists. And, of course, one should not scold the child for temporary failures. Constantly emphasize that everything will work out!

5. Do not compare

Never compare a child with other children: even children of the same age cannot show equal success in sports – someone will always be faster, stronger, more coordinated than others. Therefore, we compare each child only with ourselves: look how good you are – in September you didn’t know how to do push-ups at all, and now you did it three times! Show me your muscles!

6. Consider their interests

When choosing a set of exercises, pay attention to how much children like them. It happens that different groups of children of the same age like different sets of exercises – consider their interests!

I do physical education every day. I think it’s important for our children. They are small, of course, but already now they have a big workload: after all, they are mastering two educational programs at the same time – Russian according to the Federal State Educational Standard and international, while being constantly in an English-speaking environment.

And it is very important for kids to jump, run, play. I try to make my lessons interesting even for such young students: after all, the successful assimilation of the educational material and the correct execution of the exercises will depend on the involvement and interest of the children.
