Lansing, USA – travel map
Lansing (eng. Lansing [ˈlænsɪŋ]) is the capital of the state of Michigan (USA). The city was named by the natives of Lansing, New York, after their hometown.
The territory of present-day Lansing was first explored in 1790 by the traveler Hugh Howard, who was canoeing down the Grand River. Then it was covered with dense forests and swamps. In February 1827, the area was marked out by a survey party and put up for sale in 1830. However, due to the lack of roads and any kind of economic activity, there were no people willing to purchase land plots for a long time. In the winter of 1835-36, two brothers from New York bought cheaply a large piece of land south of the modern city, and named the place Beadle City. The area was flooded during the floods of the river, and was under water for several months a year. Not at all embarrassed by this circumstance, the brothers returned to the state of New York (or rather, to the city of Lansing), where they launched an advertising campaign for the sale of plots, describing the non-existent Beadle City as a city consisting of 65 blocks with a church and a main square. When the 16 people who bought the lots arrived in Beadle City a year later, they realized they were the victims of fraud. Some of them were so disappointed that they left the “city”, the rest renamed Beadle City Lansing, in honor of their small homeland, and began to settle down. nine0007
The peace of a sleepy village of two dozen inhabitants was abruptly disturbed in 1847, when the Michigan Legislature, fearing a repeat of the events of the Anglo-American War of 1812 (when Detroit was captured by the British), decided to move the state capital to Lansing. away from Canada, which at the time was part of the hostile British Empire. Secondly, it was believed that the transfer of the capital to Lansing would contribute to the development of the southern regions of the state. Initially, the city decided to call Michigan City , but reverted to Lansing in 1848. From a small settlement, Lansing quickly began to grow and develop, by 1859 the population exceeded 3,000 people. In 1872, the construction of the State Capitol was completed.
Michigan State University was opened in 1855. Now the university offers more than 200 study programs, among which there are internationally recognized research projects.
Until the 1890s, the main occupation of the population was agriculture. At 1897 Ransome Olds founded the Oldsmobile Company, the first automobile factory with an assembly line in the world.
REO Motor Car Company was founded in Lansing in 1905 and existed until 1975.
Geographic Information
Lansing is located in Central Michigan at the confluence of the Grand River (the state’s largest river) and the Red Cedar. Several dams have been built on the rivers, used to supply the city with water. The height of the earth’s surface in the city decreases from the southeast (271 m) to the northwest (246 m), the city center is located at an altitude of 262 meters above sea level. To the north-east of the center there are two lakes – Parkovoe and Lansing, used for the rest of the townspeople. nine0007

Lancing college
Lancing college is one of the oldest in the UK. Teenagers from 13 to 18 years old study here. And this is prestigious and interesting, because they not only receive a serious academic education, but also reveal their talents, which remain outside the compulsory subjects. Well-chosen teaching staff, material and technical equipment, high quality of services provided give excellent results. nine0007
History
Founded in 1848 by Nathaniel Woodard, the school has enjoyed continued popularity ever since. He dreamed of creating a place where every child could learn new things and do what the Lord rewarded him with. Taking into account the importance of the versatile development of the individual, an appropriate environment was created for the pupils, a laboratory, football, tennis, and cricket grounds were built. In order for students to express themselves in all directions, music and drama classes were included in the educational process. Graduates began to show brilliant results, and the school received national recognition. It should be noted that now 20% of children from other countries study here. It is important that children from different families with sufficient mental potential have every chance to enter. nine0007
If we talk about famous people, famous writers, scientists, politicians and diplomats graduated from this institution in different years.
Features and principles
Christian values underpin the existence and activities of the college. Here, the foundations of the Anglican Church, which have been going on since its foundation, are supported and protected.
The main thing is to allow the younger generation to live a full, happy life, try their hand at various types of creativity, sports, participate in social events in order to benefit others and the state. nine0007
Spiritual unity, the opportunity to prove oneself and be useful to society, discipline and good manners, responsibility and ability to work are the main priorities.
Tutors and teachers are talented and have the necessary professional skills. With educators, medical staff and a chaplain, they support and nurture their charges so that they feel confident in any situation.
The material base is constantly being improved in order to harmoniously combine traditions with scientific and technical achievements. nine0007
Infrastructure and living conditions
The college is located on the picturesque south coast, in West Sussex, near the village of Lansing. In the central part of the territory, which occupies more than 200 hectares, there is a chapel. From it there is an alley, on both sides of which there are 4 hostels for girls and 5 for boys. Teachers live here with their families, which creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Each house has a common living room where you can chat or do something together.
