Other films were filmed here – Jurassic Park, the very first King Kong and Six Days, Seven Nights. Poipu on the southeastern side of the island is warmer and more sunny, while the tropical northern part of the island is often covered with clouds and it rains more often. The average amount of precipitation here is 11,684 mm per year, which is one of the world records. The Guinness Book of Records recorded rain that lasted on this island for 247 days without a break, from August 27 to 1993 years to April 30, 1994.

Kauai is best explored in a 4WD vehicle (fantastic beaches around the corner!), while helicopter flights allow you to enjoy the beauty of the islands and ocean from the air.

The Na Pali coast is famous for its wonderful views, like on glossy postcards. Emerald valleys and jagged cliffs rise above the blue waves of the Pacific Ocean, while caves and white-sand beaches make this island one of the most beautiful of all the Hawaiian Islands. History

Kauai was the first island in the archipelago, where James Cook landed in 1778. At that time, the island was the center of one of the 4 semi-state associations that existed in the Hawaiian Islands.

In 1816-1817, under the leadership of Georg Schaeffer, representing the Russian-American Company, the Elizabethan Fortress was built on the island in order to establish a Russian colony. However, in the summer of 1817, Kauai was abandoned by the Russians. In 1835, a sugar mill was built in Old Coloa. nine0009

Fauna

Kauai is inhabited by thousands of feral chickens, which have practically no natural enemies here. They can be found anywhere on the island, including in settlements.

The Hawaiian monk seal is occasionally found in the waters and beaches of the island, and is found in the northwestern small islands of the Hawaiian archipelago and is very rarely seen on the other islands of the main group, with the exception of Kauai and Niihau.
