Salary

HHS salaries are commensurate with education and level of experience. Opportunities for merit increases and promotion are available. In addition, a shift differential may be paid to employees in certain positions who work other than normal shifts.

Employees also earn $20 per month in longevity pay for every two years of service.

Insurance

Medical/Health Insurance

The state of Texas offers free, comprehensive medical insurance for employees, and pays 50 percent of the premium cost for dependents (possibly as much as 90 percent for qualifying children). Coverage for most new employees begins the first day of the month after the 60th day of employment.

Employees working at least 30 hours per week may receive basic health and term life insurance at no cost to the employee. Employees working less than 30 hours per week pay at least 50 percent of the cost of their own benefits coverage and at least 75 percent of the cost of benefits coverage for their dependents.

Dental Insurance

Coverage, which is effective immediately, is available for employees and their dependents at group rates. There are two plans from which to choose.

Short- and Long-term Disability

This coverage may be purchased at group rates.

Other Insurance
  • Basic term life insurance — $5,000 coverage plus $5,000 for accidental death and dismemberment, both paid by the state.
  • Optional life insurance — Amounts from one to four times your annual salary may be purchased at group rates.
  • Voluntary accidental death and dismemberment — You determine your level of coverage from $10,000 to $200,000.
  • Dependent life insurance — $5,000 term life and $5,000 accidental death and dismemberment coverage may be purchased for dependents.
  • State of Texas Vision, administered by Superior Vision Services, Inc. , offers more complete vision coverage to help you save money on eye exams and eyewear.

Holidays and Leave

Holidays

State employees receive an average of 15 paid holidays per year.

Vacation Leave

New, full-time employees accrue 8 hours of vacation leave per month. The vacation accrual amount increases with additional years of state service.

Sick Leave

Full-time employees accrue 8 hours per month. Eligible employees can also apply for leave from the sick leave pool for long-term illness or injury.

Medical and Mental Health Leave for Veterans

A state employee who is a veteran and eligible for health benefits under a program administered by the Veterans Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, may be granted paid time off (up to 15 workdays in a fiscal year) to obtain medical or mental health care administered by the Veterans Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Retirement Plan

The state provides an increasingly rare defined benefit plan with lifetime annuities.

    This information is usually found on the pay stubs that caregivers send to parents every month. But the kindergarten accountant also entered this data for me at the beginning of the form for calculating the amount of the fee.

On the website of the PFR, you can find a form called “Information on the application for the disposal of MSC funds aimed at the education of the child.” I downloaded it and sent it to the kindergarten’s accounting department by e-mail. I wrote that I want to pay for the kindergarten with the money of the mother’s capital from the beginning of the school year. The planned period is a year, that is, from September 2022 to August 2023.

    The next day I received the completed document by e-mail. Signatures and stamps on it are not needed. The amount in the application is indicated on the basis that the child will attend the kindergarten all working days. Looking ahead, I’ll say that my son sometimes misses days due to illness or family reasons. But the money is not lost or burned out: everything unspent by the end of the term will return to the pension fund to my account.

    And another important nuance: when I called the pension fund hotline, I was told that the main thing in this document is the total amount that will be transferred from the mother’s capital. The accountant needs to carefully double-check it. The fact is that the PFR separately requests this information from the kindergarten. The amounts must match to the nearest penny. If there is a discrepancy, you will have to take a new paper with updated calculations from the accounting department.

    How to deal with compensation for kindergarten

    If a child goes to a state or municipal kindergarten, you can write an application for compensation of part of the parental fee. Then monthly a certain percentage of the previously paid will be returned. We wrote about this in detail in the Tinkoff Magazine article on how to receive compensation for kindergarten.

    The payment is federal, but it is up to the regional authorities to decide who exactly to provide it. In some regions, it is only for large or low-income families. The amount depends on the parental fee in the region and is determined as a percentage of it:

    1. For the first child – at least 20% of the parental fee.
    2. For the second child – at least 50%.
    3. For the third child and subsequent children – at least 70%.

    We live in the Nizhny Novgorod region, any parent can apply for compensation – we have no restrictions. I took advantage of this opportunity even before I decided to pay for the services of the garden with maternity capital. Every month, I was returned 20% of the amount previously paid for garden services – an average of 500-600 R.

    Already in the process of processing the documents, the employees of the pension fund explained: since I took advantage of the right to compensation, only 80% of the amount accrued for the month will be transferred from the mother’s capital. The remaining 20% ​​I will have to transfer myself. Next month, the same 20% will be returned to my bank card, as it was before.

    I have nothing to lose in terms of money. But every month I need to remember this, go to the banking application, make transfers. In order not to waste time on this, next year I will not write an application for compensation – then the entire amount will be transferred from the mother’s capital.

    Fill out an application for the disposal of maternity capital

    After the documents from the kindergarten were in my hands, I filled out an application for the disposal of maternity capital money. This can be done at the MFC, a branch of the pension fund, or use public services. I chose the last option. I needed the documents that I requested from the manager, as well as my passport and SNILS.

    There was only one hitch in the course of filling out the application – in the order and date of the transfer of money. I was looking for an opportunity to score monthly amounts, but this is not necessary: ​​you need to specify the total amount – in our case it is 33,047.50 R.

    As for the date, you need to write the date from which you want to start paying for garden services from the mother’s capital.

    At one of the stages, you need to choose the type of expenses: care and education or educational services. The fact is that you can also pay for additional circles or sections with mother capital: dancing, music, sports, preparation for school. I needed exactly supervision and care, so I indicated this option.

    After filling out the application, a message appeared on the screen: you need to visit the pension fund within three working days and personally submit the package of documents. Here is what I took with me:

    1. Passport.
    2. SNILS.
    3. A copy of the service agreement.
    4. A copy of the kindergarten’s educational license.
    5. Details of the application with kindergarten details and calculations.

    The FIU officer took the documents and said that a decision would be made within ten working days.

    Two weeks later, a letter came to my personal account at public services: my application was approved. A couple of days later, they called from the kindergarten and said that the pension fund had transferred the entire amount to the kindergarten account at a time. The accounting department, in turn, transferred it to the account of my child.

    The paperwork and application process took three days. Now that everything is behind me, I understand that it is not so difficult. But at first it seemed otherwise. The main problem is that there is no clear list of required documents: we had to collect information bit by bit – in the pension fund, on the website of public services, in the accounting department of the kindergarten.

    Next year I will have to walk this path again. The only difference will be that you will have to write two applications and collect two packages of documents – the youngest son will also go to kindergarten.

    Everyone who has at least once encountered the world of fashion, designer clothes, knows fashion designer Larisa Vorobyeva for a long time. For more than thirty years she has been creating, creating, delighting, surprising. Not so long ago, the Theater reappeared in her life. Creating visual images of the heroes of performances is another facet of Vorobyeva’s talent.

    Larisa and I have known each other for so long that we both don’t even remember when our first meeting took place. In the mid-90s, Yoshkar-Ola, however, like the whole country then, was very passionate about holding various “sessions”, the most famous of which was called “Couturier Surprises”, invented by the outrageous Igor Dadiani. Probably, many people still remember these bright, unusual shows of clothing collections of local and not only local fashion designers, most of which could be safely attributed to the art of high fashion.

    Larisa Vorobieva has always taken part in these annual shows, and her thematic collections of “soft gold”, fur, attracted, attracted and, no doubt, surprised. At the same time, she sews all her life for ordinary people. Her creative workshop never remains without work. But Vorobyova would not be Vorobyova if she didn’t come up with new projects for herself, if she didn’t find other uses for her knowledge of art, costume history, and constantly expanded her professional horizons. Because she is the creator! A person who does not know how to lock himself in one thing.

    – Larisa, did you feel like an artist since childhood?

    – Yes. It all started in kindergarten. My drawings were constantly sent to exhibitions, and even at home I drew almost without interruption. All the walls of our one-room apartment were hung with my “pictures”, even my mother’s acquaintances passing by our windows paid attention to this “art gallery” (laughs – note avt . ). At school, I was invariably responsible for wall newspapers, any other design. Drawing and drawing lessons are my favorite, however, in the eighth grade, teachers predicted a great future for me in biology, because I suddenly became interested in this subject, and then also in zoology, at one time I thought that I would become a veterinarian and even after school I managed to apply and in Mari State Farm-Technical School in the village of Yezhovo! But I think that in any case, mine would never have left me.

    – As a result, you became a student of the Yoshkar-Ola Art School. It must have been easy to do?

    – Yes, how can I say … I acted on a par with those who already had a basic art education, went through a children’s art school, a boarding school for gifted children, but I did not study either there or there. 100% self-taught. There were ten of us out of a hundred applicants, and only the very best entered. I was among them. I really liked studying, I adored everything that we were taught. We considered our teachers gods. Painting held a special place in my heart. After studying, I wanted to become a restorer, but everything I do now has always been with me and one day it became the main thing.

    “A girl who can explain clearly…”

    – She changed her mind about being a painter, and soon ran away from the theater where you were assigned after college. She taught at a teacher training college, then worked in a museum, but how did she suddenly decide to become a fashion designer?

    – I always sewed. I could come up with a model overnight, sew it and go to school in the morning in an original new thing. Yes, and friends often asked to come up with and draw something unusual. Then the knowledge gained in the school helped a lot. But, probably, this is some kind of natural instinct and a great desire to design, invent, create clothes. And so my workshop appeared, where even now my team and I create, we sew according to individual orders. I especially love working with fur and leather. These are my favourites. Magic materials for me.

    – It would seem that there is a place to create, to sew beautiful things that are not similar to each other, the world of high fashion is also mastered, even received the Grand Prix of the National Fur Industry Award “Golden Furrier Knife of Russia”, but suddenly a theatrical work appears in your life costume designer. Why did it happen?

    – Once in the country, the “fashion” for large-scale fashion shows ended. And since I expressed myself in my favorite thematic collections and still really wanted to create, there was a need to plunge into something new, yet unknown to me. Accidentally met on the street Sergei Tanygin, production designer of the theater. Shketan, and invited him to invite me to some production as a costume designer. Quite a lot of time passed, and I was invited to work on the musical “Chie Pampalche”.

    – Were you and your ideas immediately accepted in the theatre?

    – I can’t say that. Some wariness was present at the beginning of communication. This musical is based on the Mari epic, and some thought that it would be difficult for a non-Mari to understand the intricacies of the national costume. But I am a girl who can explain clearly, so everyone quickly realized that the costumes of the musical characters, many of which are fairy-tale characters, should look original, unusual, modern, of course, with the preservation of any national elements.

    There were especially many discussions about the image of Vodyanoy. I remember that I told the management then that I would do everything, not as you are used to. And as a result, the Vodyanoy turned out to be not just cool, it turned out to be fashionable! Since then, I have been collaborating with the Shketan Theater, and they give me complete freedom! In “The Taming of the Shrew” she came up with a veil with balloons for the main character, put on her over the knee boots and gave her a whip in her hands. The director took on such an image! We do one thing, so sometimes I offer my fellow creators my vision of heroes. Mostly agree (laughs – approx. ed. ).

    “God willing, I will definitely do it!”

    – Is it really never different?

    – It happens, of course. Not so long ago they staged the fairy tale “Two Maples” in the Russian Theater. G. Konstantinova, I came up with such a slightly outrageous costume for one very good actress, but she began to convince me that it did not suit her, she convinced me so much. At first I insisted on my own, but then I realized that the actress was right! I did not take into account one important feature of her figure, so we jointly finalized the costume. And in another comedy performance “Borrow a Tenor” by the same theater, on the contrary, she suggested giving one heroine a slightly grotesque image and said that she would have a hat on her head, like a huge vase of flowers, which is not very comfortable to wear. Everyone agreed with my vision. Creativity is serious business.

    – Larisa, what is more difficult to “dress”? Tragedy, comedy, historical or maybe social drama?

    – For me – a social drama. I consider this to be aerobatics for myself. Because there, on the one hand, everything is simple, and on the other hand, even an ordinary cleaner’s costume should “speak” almost everything about her, about her character.

    – What can say about its mistress, for example, a cleaning lady’s dressing gown?

    – A lot of things! For example, if she is funny and cheerful, then I would tie a colored scarf on her head, like a Khokhlushka, with “horns” up, and if this sad cleaner, then she would wear a dark scarf, dark stockings, a washed dressing gown and a mop would be dragged behind yourself, for example. Each artist has a lot of “talking” details in stock. There are a lot of them around us, you just need to be able to observe.

    – Do you have favorite colors and favorite color combinations?

    – I really like white color. It matches well with all colors, but most of all I like the combination of yellow sun, blue sea and white sand!

    – Now you are working on two performances: “Krechinsky’s Wedding” in the Russian theater and “Hour of Finest Local Time” in the theater. Shketan. You do not leave your musical projects, “Ne Kvartirnik” is one of them, you work as a fashion designer in your own workshop.
