I’m originally from New York but moved south to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Vanderbilt University – Go ‘Dores! I completed my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and child education there before staying to complete my master’s degree in teaching reading. I taught kindergarten in Nashville before moving to DC. I’ve been with Barrett since 2012 and spent the first four years here teaching first grade. This year I am very excited to work with the first and fourth grade reading specialist.

When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, running around, cooking and, of course, reading!

USA – all about the country, recreation and travel

To understand the States and to know all the contrast of this country, you will have to travel it from coast to coast. We recommend that you start your journey from the northeast – the region from which, back in the 14th century, the colonization of America began.

Washington DC

Washington DC is the capital of the United States and the center of world democracy. All the main administrative buildings of the country are concentrated here: the White House, the headquarters of the Congress, the Pentagon, the Supreme Court and other government organizations. The city looks pompous and contrasts markedly with any other US metropolis, because there is not a single skyscraper here, unlike New York – the city of opportunity and the embodiment of the American dream. Go jogging in Central Park and walk under the neon lights of Times Square, drink coffee on the Brooklyn Bridge and climb the Statue of Liberty, shake the paw of the T-Rex at the Museum of Natural History and listen to jazz in Greenwich Village – all this is so familiar to each of us. , thanks to the many films and songs dedicated to this metropolis.

Niagara Falls

In the north, the huge horseshoe of Niagara Falls connected Canada and America. It is not the highest or the widest in the world, but the power of the water stream, breaking off the cliff with great force, is really impressive.

East Coast

New York Stock Exchange Specialists and Capitol Officers are trained here on the East Coast. Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Cornell – all these names are traditionally associated with the prestige and high quality of education. Every year, Ivy League universities provide tuition grants, so even you can get into the circle of the young American elite.

Florida

The seriousness of the northeast region will easily dispel a trip to the south. Here, in the state of Florida, you can open your mouth to watch the launch of rockets into space, have fun all day in Legoland and Disney World, relax on white sandy beaches and look for a rare species of cougar among the mangroves of the Everglades National Park.

Yellowstone

If there’s a strong smell of hydrogen sulfide in the air, you’ve arrived at Yellowstone National Park. Hot springs decorated with dozens of bacteria, geysers over 2,000 meters high, sky blue lakes – the picture is impressive. And yet, all this boils, heating up from the active supervolcano.

Grand Canyon

Let’s move further west. Here are red rocks, up to two kilometers high, bitten by a wild river. You stand on top and do not understand what is deeper: the blue sky, in which the cry of a falcon is heard, or the Grand Canyon, which echoes the peculiar song of a feathered hunter.

California

Passing through the stone canyon, moving through the forests and waterfalls of Yosemite National Park, you find yourself in California. Sunny Los Angeles will meet with landscapes of the Beverly Hills and Melrose districts, so dear after the series from 90’s. In the Hollywood area, every year, on the red carpet, world-famous movie stars tremble with excitement, dreaming of winning an Oscar. And Long Beach and Santa Monica relentlessly delight with golden beaches, fluffy palm trees and perfect waves for surfing. When your tan is firmly on your skin, head to Universal Parks and Disneyland for experiences.
