We grew up and now braid our own pigtails in the morning and sew costumes for our children’s matinees. And, of course, we wish them the very best. Much is erased from memory over the years, but those wonderful feelings remain for life, and we want our children to have the brightest. The first experience of communication and childhood friendship gained in the Garden cannot be replaced by even the best nanny in the world. That is why the role of a kindergarten in the life of every kid is so special and important, and the right choice of an institution where you send your child is a very serious issue.

Sunflower Nursery, located in Burnsville, prides itself on its expertise in raising and bilingual children. While in America, parents who came from the Union do not want to lose the Russian language, and therefore they try to speak Russian with their children. In Sunflower, the main emphasis is on properly preparing a child for American preschool education and at the same time instilling in him knowledge of Russian traditions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM HOME KINDERGARTEN?

Children as young as 6 weeks old are brought to Podsolnukh. For the little ones, there is a special room where
older children have no access. A specialized teacher deals with the kids. Your child will definitely be fed with a special formula or even breast milk, which mothers bring in frozen form in advance.
Unlike family and home kindergartens, Sunflower Day Care Center (that’s how it has the right to be called according to regulatory documents) is required to follow a lot of requirements and state standards. For example, in order to work with children, it is necessary to have a special teacher’s license, annually provide an educational plan for the state commission, which also tests children 2 times a year.
For every 7-10 children, depending on age, there should be a separate teacher, so now 5 people are constantly working in the staff of
“Sunflower”, two teachers are Americans.

SERIOUS APPROACH TO CHILDREN’S EDUCATION

Classes are held in two languages at once – English and Russian. One big topic is taken, for example OCEAN,
, and shown from all sides. Interestingly, the classes are taught by two teachers, Russian and American,
so the child hears the correct American pronunciation of words and at the same time learns their Russian equivalent. Testing takes place twice a year at Podsolnukh, children are given assignments to determine their level of preparation. Teachers keep a history of each child, make files of all his works and monitor how he develops. After Sunflower, children easily enter general education and even prestigious private schools, they do not need additional lessons and preparation, they already know everything!
– Of course, we try to make our classes as interesting and varied as possible, we give a lot in a playful way. Children love our “physics” classes, when we explain to them how the world works using simple examples. For example, it’s easy to show how water turns into ice, and it’s very interesting for children when they “do experiments” themselves,” says Tatyana Peterson, director of the kindergarten.

SUNNY LAND IN SUMMER AND SNOW FORTRESS IN WINTER

Of course, learning is a serious and important business, but how can you not drive your favorite doll on a truck or arrange a small shop for friends in the intervals between modeling and counting? There is more than enough space for games in Sunflower: here are huge racks with toys, sets of a developing designer, for everyone there is their own, here is a beautiful wooden house built right in the group. And the most pleasant thing is a well-equipped nursery
a playground on the street, on which there is nothing! And slides, and climbing frames, and ladders. The second part of the site is a soft
green lawn, on which the children enjoy sunbathing, and sometimes, with the permission of their parents, even summer swimming in the pool and hardening.
– In winter, we build a snow fortress and even a snow house, – says Tatyana, – we arrange the Zimushka-Winter holiday, play snowballs, run, ride downhill. We always return from walks ruddy and cheerful, in a good, high spirits.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR AFTER SNACK?

They feed in the garden, of course, only healthy, tasty food prepared by their own chef in a specially equipped kitchen
. As it turned out, it is not so easy to get the right license for preparing children’s food. If you wanted to be professional – as they say, answer with all severity! Having the status of a Daycare Center (and not a home care center), Podsolnukh must again meet strict norms and standards. That is why there is a beautiful and sparkling clean kitchen, with all the necessary professional(!) equipment. And they cook the most delicious homemade breakfasts, lunches and afternoon snacks on this equipment. Children, of course, love Russian cuisine and are happy to eat dumplings, pancakes, and the obligatory soup for lunch. The guys eat 3-4 times a day, the garden opens at 7 am and closes at 5:30, just in time for a family dinner.

ACCOUNTER AND SANTA CLAUS – STUDYING THE CULTURE OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

There are many holidays in Podsolnukh, they are celebrated regardless of national and religious affiliation as part of the study of the cultural traditions of different peoples. At the photo booth, joyful kids are eating Shrovetide pancakes and looking at the accordion player in a beautiful Russian folk shirt. But Santa came to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. For each holiday, teachers, together with the children, prepare whole performances in both Russian and English. Children know Russian fairy tale characters from books and songs, so they enjoy playing Antoshka and Cheerful Train. A whole dressing room with outfits sewn by teachers for different performances allows you to make each performance truly festive. Interestingly, American children who do not have Russian roots are also brought to the garden, so you can hear an interesting mixture of languages \u200b\u200bin the playground, and at the same time it is easy for children to communicate in both Russian and English. Little Americans quickly learn to speak Russian and then sometimes puzzle their parents by addressing them at home in an unfamiliar language.

VISIT THE SUNFLOWER

Unusual and interesting people of different professions often come to visit children. For example, firefighters from the Fire
department came and showed a whole performance where they talked about how to behave in an emergency.
And the representatives of the taekwondo section taught the most daring children real wrestling techniques.
