“KinderCare puts so much care and detail into everything. They want the best for the children and families they serve, so there was no way I could NOT work here! Throughout my time with KinderCare, I’ve been to every center in the state. I’ve seen how staff members are supported in so many different ways. You always feel like you have someone there—you never feel alone.”

— Cydney, KinderCare Teacher

At KinderCare, you’ll find that employees are treated with transparency, dignity, and respect. Whether you’re caring for and educating the children we serve or supporting families from afar, you’ll have the tools and resources to make positive change within your community.

“I feel very fortunate to work for an organization that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over the last two years, in partnership with the Advisory Caucus and the Strategy Team, employees from within KinderCare shared their experiences and perspectives that helped shape the strategic priorities for our DEI journey. It’s a people-centric approach to a people-centered journey. As an Asian American who has immigrant parents, this work is completely personal. We all want to belong and feel valued, and that’s what KinderCare’s approach to DEI is all about.”

— Jane, Director of Champions Summer Programming (Corporate)

Toddler Child Care & Early Education for 1-2 Year Olds

(1-2 years old)

They’re on the move! We have a safe (and fun!) environment for toddlers to explore.

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day.

At KinderCare, we put safety first to protect our families and staff. Visit our health and safety page to learn more.

Everyone belongs in our circle

We build warm, welcoming, and supportive classrooms for children of all abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.

Find my nearest center

Explore the toddler classroom

Take a look at how we set up our classroom for busy toddlers. It’s organized for their age and stage of learning and development.

Kids eye level

There’s something special about the toddler classroom:
Everything is kid-size! We put books and toys within easy
reach of little hands. Instead of waiting for an adult to bring a
book over, kids can kick off story time all on their own.

Photos and labels

In our classrooms, photos and visual cues are everywhere. We always hang pictures of our children’s families to help build our sense of community. Labels—especially visual ones—help your toddler navigate the room and the day in a safe and confident way.

Inside a toddler’s day

Our caring teachers set a daily rhythm for toddlers that includes group time, story time, outdoor play, meals and snacks , naps, and most especially, lots of playtime (because we know so much learning happens when they play with attentive teachers nearby).
View an example daily schedule.

Group time

Group time happens every day in each
of our classrooms. For toddlers, it’s their
time to come together as a community,
talk about the day, and hear a
read-aloud.

Meals and snacks

Every day, toddlers sit down to a meal with healthy fruits
and vegetables, lean proteins, and
whole grains. We never serve juice or
fried foods!

Outdoor playtime

Our classes spend 20–30 minutes
outside at least twice a day, weather
permitting. Outdoor playtime is big-time
fun for busy toddlers, as they build on
their ever-growing physical skills.

Toddler curriculum

Making art, stacking blocks, reading books—no matter what your toddler loves to do or where they are developmentally, we’ll help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Building brain power and strong bodies

Activities like sorting, counting, and measuring things help
budding brains grasp science and math concepts. We build
their focus and memory with simple daily routines. Teachers
also support physical skills like learning to walk or roll a ball.

Learning about feelings and how we express them

At this age, relationships with classmates and teachers
begin to form. We use social and emotional skill-building
tools like feelings magnets and puppets to help them learn
about their own feelings, and notice the feelings of others.

Talking more and more

Toddlers build their vocabulary one or two words at a time by
pointing to things and expressing needs. They also engage
in prewriting and prereading by scribbling on paper and
turning pages in books.

Expressing themselves

Creatively, toddlers express themselves with mediums like
clay, and movement and dance to simple children’s songs.

Toddler classroom activities

Every day, our creative teachers guide toddlers through fun activities that are just right for their age. Here are just a few examples!

Homes for Animals

Kids create homes and habitats for stuffed animals with
blocks. This helps them practice building, problem-solving,
and playing pretend.

Car Tracks

Kids take toy cars dipped in non-toxic paint and roll them
over paper to create different patterns and textures.

Digging in the Dirt

Getting a little messy means learning is happening! Kids
use garden tools to dig in soil and explore seeds, plants,
and flowers.

How to enroll

We’ve gathered all the resources you need to help you make a confident decision to join the KinderCare family.

Top Daycare Companies in the World 2020

Child Day Care Services Overview

Child day care services are invaluable to parents and guardians around the world, and a wide range of private and not-for-profit daycare companies exist to meet the needs of busy adults and their children. These daycare centers operate in a variety of ways, from for-profit franchises to child care companies that partner with corporations to non-profit organizations. The world’s top daycare companies take many forms and fill several different niches.

Many corporations are offering child day care services to their employees, not only as a benefit to incentivise and reward workers, but also as a way to reduce absences due to care gaps or other setbacks. Employers may run and manage these services themselves, but often they partner with outside daycare companies that already have the expertise and resources to run a daycare center. Many of the market’s top daycare companies offer these services to employers in addition to running their own child care centers.

The global child day care services market is a substantial one, valued at almost $300 billion in 2019 and expected to pass the $400 billion mark as soon as 2023, according to analysis by The Business Research Company. Growth is expected to be slow through the remainder of 2020 due to the global economic slowdown caused by COVID-19 and the operational challenges it presents to businesses like daycare companies. However, once the pandemic passes the market is expected to recover and the growth rate will increase. While many people will likely continue to work from home after the pandemic rather than return to the office, child day care services are still invaluable as they provide both education and socialization for children while allowing parents to focus on work.

Who Are the Top Daycare Companies in the World for 2020?

Several of the world’s top daycare companies operate across multiple countries and regions, but often child care companies focus on one national market, as laws and education standards can vary significantly from country to country, providing extra challenges for daycare centers to navigate. However, some child care companies mitigate this by developing or acquiring other brands or operating franchises, allowing them to take advantage of the expertise of people native to the area. Regardless of whether they operate in one country or many, the top daycare companies employ a range of strategies to stay ahead of the curve.

Are you looking for a company that supports working parents? These companies offer childcare assistance, extra PTO for parents, and more.

By Emily Courtney

If you’re a parent of a child that requires full-time care, the childcare crisis that many families face probably isn’t news to you. Everything shuttered when the pandemic hit, and most never got fully back on track.

Fortunately, companies are paying attention to their employees’ struggles, and many are offering ways to help working parents manage their caregiving responsibilities during these challenging times.

Are you looking for a new flexible job with a company that’ll support you as a working parent? From extra PTO and childcare reimbursements to discounted tutoring, these companies offering childcare assistance are leading the way with compassion and empathy. Check out what they’re offering, along with some of the flexible jobs they’ve recently posted!

Went for inspection and trial day. Didn’t like it. The garden is right on the road, rather dusty and dark. There is no playground for games, the kitchen is next to the playrooms and all smells are clearly audible. They didn’t show us the second floor and the bedrooms, they said look at the photo, it was also difficult to get the schedule of classes. After viewing, they called for another week and asked what our decision was))

By law, you can be on parental leave for three years.

Diana Shigapova

lawyer

Mothers, fathers or other relatives, while on such leave, receive benefits until the child reaches one and a half years.

We have already written how to calculate maternity payments. In this article I will tell you how benefits are calculated and assigned for a child up to three years old.

What laws regulate the granting of allowance for a child up to three years old

The right to a monthly allowance for child care is guaranteed by the federal law “On State Benefits for Citizens with Children”.

The right to a monthly allowance for child care

The same law states that the allowance is paid from the day the leave is granted until the child reaches one and a half years. The law does not say anything about benefits from one and a half to three years.

Duration of payment of the monthly child care allowance

Instead of a benefit from one and a half to three years, mothers or other relatives who have taken parental leave are entitled to compensation – 50 R. But only for children born before 2020.

What has changed in 2020. Families with children born in 2020 and later are no longer paid monthly compensation in the amount of 50 R for children from one and a half to three years old: the presidential decree on the payment of such compensation has become invalid.

So what? 11/26/19

Payments for children under three years of age have been cancelled. What does it mean?

If you already receive 50 R for children under three years old, then you will continue to receive money until the children’s third birthday.

Who is entitled to benefits up to three years

In this article, I will talk about mothers, because they are the ones who most often take parental leave.

Allowance up to one and a half years is due to all mothers who care for children. It doesn’t matter if a woman worked under an employment contract or not, she will receive a child care allowance. But the amount of the benefit is different. Here is what affects him:

  1. The salary that the mother received before pregnancy.
  2. Family status – for example, a family may be considered indigent.
  3. Status of the child – for example, a child with a disability.

/papa-mozhet/

How a man can go on maternity leave

A mother without work experience will receive the least, and a mother with a good salary and a special child will receive the most.

I will tell you more about the possible amounts of benefits for a child up to one and a half years below.

Compensation in the amount of 50 R is due only to those who are employed, and provided that the child was born before 2020. This amount is fixed.

Which family is considered poor

In Russia, a poor family is one whose average per capita income per family member is less than the subsistence minimum established in the region of residence.

Determine if the family is poor, as follows:

  1. Calculate the family income for the last three months from the date of application to social protection. Income includes all salaries, pensions, allowances, scholarships.
  2. The amount of income divided by 3 is the average monthly family income.
  3. The average monthly income is divided by the number of family members to get the average per capita family income. It is he who is compared with the subsistence minimum per capita in the region where the family lives.

st. 7 of the Federal Law No. 178 “On State Social Assistance”

For the poor, the state has developed a special program, according to which, in addition to the child care allowance, the mother receives additional money.

Types of allowances for a child up to three years old

A pregnant woman, and then a woman who has given birth, is entitled to maternity allowance, child care allowance and sometimes other payments – this depends on the situation in the family.

Maternity payments , or maternity allowance, are due to women who work under an employment contract, and also to those who were fired due to the liquidation of the organization or the termination of the individual entrepreneur.

What to do? 07/15/19

How can an individual entrepreneur receive maternity payments?

In addition to them, individual entrepreneurs who pay contributions to the Social Insurance Fund, the Social Insurance Fund, as well as civil servants, full-time students of universities and colleges can receive maternity payments.

This money is paid once – before maternity leave.

Child allowance is a child care allowance that is paid by the FSS every month until the child reaches one and a half years.

Child benefit up to one and a half years for the unemployed is issued in the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation. A certificate is needed from the second parent that he does not receive such benefits.

If a parent applies for benefits through an employer or the Social Insurance Fund, then certificates from a spouse or other relatives are not needed. Since 2022, the Social Insurance Fund itself determines whether someone already receives an allowance for caring for this child.

Payments to parents of a disabled child . In addition to child care allowance, a mother can apply for a social pension, as well as monthly assistance.

Disability pension and caregiver’s benefit are paid up to the age of 18.

Payments to low-income families are provided for by federal and regional legislation. At the federal level, this is a monthly allowance for the first or second child, the so-called Putin’s payments. The allowance is not intended specifically for low-income families, but with a high degree of probability, it is the low-income family that will have the right to Putin’s payments. This allowance is paid for up to three years.

In some regions, support measures are provided directly to low-income families with small children. For example, in Moscow, children under three years old from low-income families are paid from 8,896 R to 17,791 R per month.

Other types . There are also additional payments to families in which fathers serve on conscription. They are paid until the child is three years old, but payments stop if the father has served and returned home.

/benefits/

Payments and child benefits in 2022

Who pays the benefits

The allowance for caring for a child up to one and a half years old is paid by the FSS or the PFR. Some employees who have become parents are also entitled to financial assistance from their employers.

FSS. Today, in all regions of the Russian Federation, there is a project for direct payments from the FSS – child care benefits are paid directly by the fund. But, if you are employed, you still need to apply for benefits to the employer: he will transfer the information to the FSS, and he will transfer the money.

PFR. The unemployed and women apply to the pension fund, who were fired during parental leave due to the liquidation of the organization.

/posobiya-roditelyam-bez-raboty/

What child benefits are due to parents without work

Employer. Some corporations and other large employers are developing a company’s social policy: they think over when and how they will financially support their employees. Such programs operate, for example, in Gazprom and Tatneft.

Parental leave is often the case when an employer provides financial assistance to employees. That is, a woman receives both child care allowance and financial assistance from the employer.

Payments for a child with a disability come from the pension fund. To support low-income families, money is allocated from the federal and regional budgets, but these payments are processed in social security.

The procedure for assigning benefits

Most of the benefits are assigned on a declarative basis – that is, in order for a woman to receive them, she must write an application and provide documents.

Documents for receiving benefits

If a woman works under an employment contract, she needs to bring a child’s birth certificate to the accounting department at work. A certificate from the father stating that he did not apply for child care allowance for up to one and a half years, from 2022, it is no longer necessary to submit for work.

You also need to bring a certificate from the previous employer about the amount of wages in order to calculate the allowance if the woman changed jobs during the previous two years.

/guide/moneyforborn/

How to receive payments at the birth of a child

If a woman is unemployed, then she needs to prepare a copy of her passport, a copy of the birth certificate of the child, a copy of the employment record, a certificate of non-receipt of unemployment benefits, as well as a certificate from her father that he did not take leave for child care. The FIU has no information about this, so it needs such a certificate.

If a woman wants to make payments for a low-income family, then in addition to the basic documents, she needs to prepare certificates of her and her husband’s income.

Application for benefit is filled in in any form.

Application deadline for benefits up to one and a half years – up to two years of the child. Children up to three years of age can apply for Putin’s payments.

Art. 12 of the Federal Law “On compulsory social insurance in case of temporary disability and in connection with motherhood”

Where to submit documents: to the accounting department at the place of work, to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, the Social Insurance Fund, social security or the MFC. In some regions, working parents can apply for benefits up to a year and a half through public services.

Amount of benefits

Maternity allowance. The amount of maternity leave is calculated according to one of two formulas: based on salary or based on the minimum wage. The formula is chosen depending on the length of service and the amount of the woman’s earnings two years before pregnancy.

Formulas for calculating maternity payments

Formula for calculating maternity payments based on salary in 2022: the woman was on sick leave, on maternity or childcare leave) × number of days of decree

Formula for calculating maternity payments based on the minimum wage from June 2022:

15,279 R × 24 months ÷ 730 days × number of days of the decree

Term of the decree and the amount of payments

905 905

Term Amount
Ordinary Decree 140 days 70,324.8 R
Complicated labor 156 days R 78,361.92
Multiple pregnancy 194 days 97450. 08 R

Ordinary decree 9000 Multiple pregnancy

Term

194 days

Amount

97,450.08 R

Child care allowance . How much they will be paid in 2022 is calculated according to the following formula:

Salary and other labor income for 2020-2021, but not more than 1,878,000 R ÷ 730 days (minus the number of days that a woman was on sick leave or on vacation for pregnancy or on parental leave) × 30.4 × by 40%

In 2022, you should get at least 7677.81 R and no more than 31 282.82 R per month. The maximum for the whole of Russia is the same.

The unemployed and those whose average salary for two years is less than the minimum wage are paid a fixed allowance – 7677.81 R. This amount is increased by the regional coefficient, if it is applied in the locality.

Putin’s payments depend on the subsistence minimum – PM. Families in which the average monthly income per family member is not higher than twice the regional subsistence level are entitled to the subsistence level per child. On average, this is 14,000-15,000 rubles.

Since June 1, 2022, the minimum wage and living wages have grown. As a result, social payments tied to the PM also increased.

Duration of payments

Child care allowance is paid strictly until the child reaches the age of 1 year and 6 months. If this date falls, for example, in the middle of the month, then the amount of the benefit is calculated in proportion to the days.

For example, the child of an unemployed mother turned one and a half years old on 15 June. The allowance will be calculated as follows: 7677.81 R ÷ 30 days × 15 days. The woman will receive 3838.91 rubles.

Putin’s payments are paid for a year, after which they must be extended, but no longer than until the child is three years old.

Payments to low-income families continue as long as established in the regional law. For example, in Tatarstan they pay for six months, and then the applicant needs to confirm his need: re-write the application, bring income certificates.

When payments stop

Child care benefits stop in two cases:

  1. The child is one and a half years old.
  2. The parent refused the allowance.

All other benefits are terminated in the following cases:

  1. If the payment period has expired, and the family could no longer prove their need or comply with the conditions prescribed by law.
  2. If the social security authority found that the family’s real income is higher than declared.
  3. If the child is 3 years old.

What parents say about the fairness of payments

Many people think that the principle by which they determine who and how much to pay is unfair. This is especially true of Putin’s payments.

Date of birth . The resentment is connected with the fact that the date of birth of children is prescribed in the law, starting from which the family has the right to the allowance.

/money-for-baby/

How I got Putin’s payments for a child

Putin payments can only be issued by families in which a child was born after January 1, 2018. That is, if the child was born on December 31, 2017 or earlier, the parents will not be able to apply for benefits.

There is also a second condition: the child must be the first or second. Parents of babies born after January 1, 2018, but no longer the first or second in a row, cannot issue Putin’s payments either.

The criterion of need in the law is quite clear: no more than two living wages established in the region where the family lives. If the income in the family is at least 1 R more, you will not be able to apply for benefits.

Source of payments for the second child . If money is allocated for the first child from the federal budget, then money for payments for the second child is taken from maternity capital. Families have to choose: reduce the amount of maternity capital and receive benefits, or refuse benefits and spend maternity capital for other purposes.

What payments are due to a family with children of a different age

There are many child allowances and payments, there are even more conditions for receiving them – it is easy to get confused in all this. Our test will help you figure it out:

What a woman will receive for a child under three years old

  1. Pregnancy and childbirth allowance if she works under an employment contract or quit due to the liquidation of the organization or the termination of the individual entrepreneur. And also if he independently pays contributions to the FSS as an individual entrepreneur.
  2. Monthly allowance for caring for a child up to one and a half years.
  3. Monthly compensation in the amount of 50 R if employed and the child was born before 2020.
  4. Putin’s payments – one subsistence minimum per child per month, if the average monthly income per family member is not higher than twice the regional subsistence level.
  5. Monthly allowance for low-income families, if the average per capita income for each family member is less than the subsistence minimum established in the region of residence. The amount of the allowance is set at the regional level.
  6. Social pension and monthly compensation if the child is disabled.

Monthly allowance for child care for persons not subject to compulsory social insurance

“Men’s” Decree enters into regulation

AR

This April, Yahoo! announced that new dads can take eight weeks of paid vacation after the birth of a child. Bank of America is offering new dads 12 weeks of vacation time, and Ernst & Young extended the “male” maternity leave from two to six weeks a few years ago. According to the latest data from the American Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), 15% of American companies provide maternity leave to young dads in one way or another.

Society has not matured

According to a 2011 survey of employees in four Fortune 500 companies by the Boston College Family and Work Center, about 85% of fathers take short time off after having a baby. Experts and the fathers themselves emphasize: it is not a lack of desire. Men are torn between home and work. According to the American Institute of Family and Work, in 2008, 60% of fathers from families with two working spouses felt that their work and family obligations were in constant conflict. For comparison: at 1977, such a feeling, according to polls, arose only in 35% of fathers.

“Society still stigmatizes fathers who treat their family responsibilities the same way they treat their workers,” lamented Scott Coltran, a sociologist at the University of Oregon. “Most employers still believe that work is more important for a man, and childcare is more important for a woman,” he adds.

Some companies are already creating communities of young fathers, ready to protect their interests. And yet, in most cases, men who dare to openly declare their role as a parent are subject to pressure from the employer and cause irritation of colleagues. Fathers who take care of children are considered frivolous, absent-minded and unable to devote themselves to work. Working mothers are often treated the same way, which negatively affects their careers, says Jennifer Berdahl, lead author of the study. She adds that caring dads are often seen as weak and henpecked.

Brent Daley, co-owner of Roundpegg in Colorado, took only one week off when his son was born in 2010 and three days after the birth of his daughter in 2012. His company has an informal policy of giving new fathers a monthly and fully paid leave after the birth of a child. “But I couldn’t leave. It seemed to me that I would let the team down,” recalls the 37-year-old man.

Grateful for the decree

At Ernst & Young, between 500 and 600 men go on maternity leave each year. But 90% take only two weeks, although the company gives them up to six paid weeks, says Mariella Gokel, the company’s chief specialist in the formation of flexible strategies. She adds that a man can take the remaining four weeks if he confirms that he is the primary caretaker of the child.

Meanwhile, numerous studies confirm that long maternity leave for men has advantages. A 2007 study at Columbia University found that fathers who stayed at home with their children for a long time paid a lot of attention to their children even months after returning to work. And a study this year in Quebec found that the more fair and generous a company’s maternity leave policy is, the more mothers return to work after maternity leave.

Work on vacation

Gilbert Maddock, vice president of a New York financial services company, took a week of paid postnatal leave when his son was born last May. But despite the fact that he was constantly with the child, the man devoted 40% of the daytime to work. “I work in sales. And if I don’t keep my finger on the pulse, then the pace of business slows down,” he explains. Maddock does not regret at all that colleagues invaded his personal life while he was at home.

To make maternity leave more popular for men, ways must be found to engage stay-at-home young dads without taking them too far away from primary childcare responsibilities, says Ken Mathos, senior director of employment research at the Family and Work Institute. “One of the most important issues to be addressed is preventing the isolation of men on maternity leave and keeping them connected to the workforce,” he said.

The WSJ polled its readers on Facebook to see how they feel about the idea of a young dad going on maternity leave. Among representatives of different generations, opinions were clearly divided. Young fathers saw the point in a man-of-war order, while older workers felt that such a policy could only dishonor their employer.
