Our Philosophy — Chapel Hill Day Care Center
Learn about the Chapel Hill Day Care Center’s approach to early childhood education.
We see our Center as an extension of home and the uniqueness of each child’s cultural heritage is recognized and respected. Our program strives to develop the child holistically while sparking curiosity and promoting mastery of the environment.
Our activities, which are based on the needs of individual children and build upon their previous experiences, include early literacy, mathematics, the arts, social studies, science, and technology. Our curriculum supports not only cognitive development, but also the physical, social, and emotional abilities of each child.
Most importantly, we endeavor to be a fun, safe and happy place for children to spend their early years. To ensure children of different socioeconomic statuses have access to high quality education, we partner with Chapel Hill Training Outreach Project to provide care to infants, toddlers and two-year-olds enrolled in Early Head Start, a federal program serving low-income and at-risk children.
Our goals influence the way the Center operates on a daily basis and help us to uphold our philosophy. We strive to:
- Promote the development of a positive image for each child.
- Foster caring relationships within the Center family.
- Support children where they are developmentally while encouraging individual growth.
- Create an accepting environment that introduces children to the differences and similarities among people.
- Build confidence in children through the encouragement of self-help skills.
- Teach cooperation and respect in a group setting.
- Encourage problem-solving and creative thinking.
- Foster excitement and curiosity about the world.
- Promote constructive, prosocial expression of emotions.
Learn more about us!
In our early days as new parents, our infant son Jack was given all the care and personalized attention he needed at Chapel Hill Day Care. He thrived with the continuity of care of having the same teachers for his first three years. We loved them so much we planned having our second baby to be with those teachers again! As each of our children have grown, the’ve enjoyed the evolution of classrooms, playgrounds and activities suited to their new stages of development. Our daughter Kate is now enjoying the independence and responsibility of the preschool classroom preparing for Kindergarten.
After 8 years with two children at Chapel Hill Day Care, I can honestly say I can’t imagine having been anywhere else. The teachers and staff truly feel like part of our family, and we are so grateful!

Geography
Chapel Hill is located in southeastern Orange County and covers an area of 51. 3 square kilometers. Chapel Hill (eng. Chapel Hill ), Durham (eng. Durham ) and Raleigh (eng. Raleigh ) make up the so-called Research Triangle (Research Triangle), which received this name in 1959.
History
Chapel Hill is translated as the Chapel on the hill, and indeed the whole town was originally, and now its central part is located on top of the hill, which was originally called New Hope Chapel Hill (English 90 007 New Hope Chapel Hill ) as there was a small chapel there at the time. Now on the site of that chapel is the Carolina Hotel (eng. Carolina Inn ). The city itself began to actively develop and grow, to support and ensure the functioning of the University of North Carolina, which was opened in 1789.
Chapel Hill is famous for its sports team of the University of North Carolina, which actively participates in competitions within the country, where its main rival is the team of Duke University (English Duke University ) from the city of Durham. Also noteworthy is the unique bus system introduced by Mayor Howard Lee. It allows residents of the city without personal vehicles to have access to all important facilities (schools, hospitals, shops, entertainment centers, etc.), which is extremely atypical for America. Since 2002, all bus service in the city has become free for both residents and visitors to the city.
Population
The main population of Chapel Hill is white Americans, who make up about 45% of the inhabitants. Thanks to the University of North Carolina, many immigrants from other countries live in and around the city, who are representatives of the intellectual stratum of society and work at the University in professorial and teaching positions.
Interesting Facts
- Chapel Hill became the first city in America, which in 1968, with an absolute majority at that time of the white population, elected African-American Howard Lee as mayor (English Howard Lee ), who served as mayor from 1969 to 1975
- American Poet Laureate Jarrell Randall threw himself under a car in 1965 near the University of North Carolina.

Clean and comfortable and no hassles at all. But the most amazing part of our stay was the extra help and attention we received from a wonderful woman at the desk called Justice. She helped my daughter and my daughter’s friend (on FaceTime— complicated story) and Justice went way beyond the call of duty with her kindness and patience and energy, especially at 1am. You are lucky to have her on your staff!

The hotel was a really neat building with lots of green plants. The best asset was their staff. They were friendly, spend time on your requests or questions. The food, a bar menu unfortunately because the dining room was closed, was excellent. The room was large, the windows and balcony doors could be opened. It was surprisingly quiet for an in town hotel.
