Burlington is full of history.

The area has attracted Aboriginal people long before the arrival of the first settlers at the end of the eighteenth century.

In 1784, Joseph Brant was recognized for fighting for the British in the American Revolutionary War, having been granted large tracts of land in the area. The split sale of land in Brant to settlers marked the humble beginnings of what would become modern-day Burlington. As a tribute to his legacy are the Brant Joseph Museum and the Brant Joseph Hospital, both of which are near the site of Brant’s former home.

In the development of the regions in the peasant community, the clearing of land from 1820 to 1850 resulted in forest tree species, the main export of the area. Shortly thereafter, agriculture and agriculture will dominate in the area of wheat is the main crop of the region. Burlington would eventually diversify and expand its farming communities with vegetable and fruit crops.

Industry in the area has since shifted a lot over the years. Agriculture has given way to commercial enterprises, which have since been replaced by modern companies and high-tech industries that have attracted many people to the area. By 1974, with a population of over one hundred thousand, Burlington was incorporated as a city, and to this day is one of the leading cities in southern Ontario.
