Child Care in South Austin | Sweet Briar CDC

CHILD CARE
IN SOUTH AUSTIN

We’ve been serving Austin, Kyle & Buda since 1961

IN SOUTH AUSTIN

Sweet Briar Child Development Center opened in 1961 when Mrs. Ellen Smith recognized the need for childcare in South Austin. The Sandra Campus was the first childcare center to open south of the river in Austin! In 2013 our Woodway Village Campus opened in Southeast Austin in the Woodway Village Apartments. We are proud of our long history as a quality certified learning center in South Austin.

Our Commitment to Quality: Our centers have achieved the highest quality certifications. We have a 4 STAR rating from Texas Rising Star, a statewide certification program. We actively collaborate with The United Way of Austin in their Success by 6 School Readiness initiative. Our quality rating allows us to participate in the Austin Independent School District Pre-K partnership. This partnership allows our center to be recognized as an AISD Pre K campus.

Our Mission: Our goal is to provide a foundation for life-long learning through high quality early care and education meeting the social, emotional, and developmental needs for the children we serve. We strive to assist parents in recognizing education is a partnership, and their role is especially vital in supporting their child’s educational success.

We’d love to have your family become a Sweet Briar family!

Having Ayden at Sweet Briar CDC is the best thing that I could have done for him. I searched everywhere for a center that lived up to my standards, expectations, and had a quality-learning environment with quality-trained teachers. When I walked into Sweet Briar CDC for the first time I knew that I had found the center where my son had to be. I worked in child care for 14 years and knew what I was looking for.

MARTHA N.

Honestly, words can not express our gratitude for the genuine love and kindness your teachers have bestowed upon our daughter, I truly could not be more pleased with the knowledge your staff has in developing children into bright and respectful little citizens.

MARIA T.

We have nothing but awesome and fond memories of the daycare and the staff. You have all been wonderful in helping us out with our children. Ryan, Brandon, Isaiah and now Ava will always remember Sweet Briar CDC. I will definitely refer your center when asked about daycare facilities in the South Austin area!

And here is how the summer camp went last year 2021:

The theme of our summer camp in 2021 is travel. This summer we have studied 11 countries, children have learned a lot about their culture, geography, history and even learned a little language. We also did creative work based on countries. Of course, the camp program included dancing, joint time in nature, staging performances and performances. At the end of each week, the children created a stand about the country and an exhibition of their work. And of course, the daily class “Science”, in which children studied complex scientific concepts and carried out experiments themselves (for example, isolated DNA themselves). Classes are held in an interactive form when children can ask any questions, talk about their experiences and even associations – in such a playful way, knowledge from different fields of science is much better remembered. We try to give children knowledge both in the school curriculum and in the form of interactive development in the form of experiments and participation in a mobile planetarium.

Sudan sent an official complaint to the UN Security Council, which accuses the authorities of Southern Sudan in creating an environment of instability in the border state of South Kordofan.

The Sudanese news agency SUNA, citing Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti, reported that “the complaint accuses South Sudan of creating instability, undermining peace and supporting rebel groups in the state.” Khartoum is committed to stability and peace, but the government of South Sudan is hostile to its neighbor, the minister said. “We were the first to recognize the independence of South Sudan and extended a hand of cooperation,” the minister said, accusing the authorities of the newly created state of claiming South Kordofan, which is located to the north of it.

South Sudan, in turn, accuses Khartoum of bombing the villages of representatives of the Nubian ethnic group of South Kordofan, which supported the southerners during the civil war. The UN Security Council expressed concern about the atmosphere of tension between the two states and the increase in violence in the border area.
