  • Make a room for the baby

When Chris Markum and his wife Julia discovered that girl , number three, was on her way, they started a process on one of the rooms in her home in Rexburg, Idaho. It used to serve as Faye’s three-year-old room. Chris, one half of the Chris Loves Julia blog duo, says there was nothing wrong with the room, but the space was used by their three-year-old and could use some sprucing. The new baby will join Faye and her other older sister, seven-year-old Greta.

Chris, who has a marketing background and is now focused on growing Chris Loves Julia into a home design brand, attributes the vision to Julia’s makeup exclusively. A stay-at-home mom who actively studied art, Julia gained hands-on design experience by freshening up her apartment, her first home, and now her current home. nine0019

The couple really found a lot of help and inspiration with Modsy, a modeling web service that helped couples visualize and style the space. They create a 3D rendering of your space, which is quite impressive, in which the rendering and the actual images look almost identical (as seen here).

“We’re sure this will be our last child, so we decided we really wanted to do something special for her,” says Chris.

The Marcum girl will soon get a nice, nice place to call herself.

  • Before: Improvement room

Chris says the room looked “original” to the house, “just like when we walked in”. It was a standard room with bright blue walls and dirty carpet. The couple turned it into an easy, cozy nursery for their daughter, Fay, and squeezed all of its benefits for the first three years.

  • After: Clean Slate

In neutral color palettes, subtle hues, hardwood floors, Marcums set the stage for whimsical decor details and pops of soft colors. Chris explains that “nothing was done structurally” but the walls did receive a cleaning picked from Metri’s “Forward” fashion line. The walls get a fresh look with Benjamin Moore’s super white paint coat and Cole and Son Nuvoletta’s wallpaper in wavy, cloudy form.

Chris says: “The biggest improvement is the walls. The combination of playful, sweet wallpaper and clean, structured wainscoting is so soothing and really creates a nice vibe.” nine0019

  • After: Sweet Dreams

Chris and Julia were looking for a peaceful and soothing place for their soon-to-be daughter. And to soothe it, of course, in subtle textures and pastel colors. The modern touch is in the geometric mobile. The gorgeous duvet is adorably accented with pom-poms, with an extra touch of blue drawn across the patterned pillow. Pink baby gossip with striped pillow and an extra dose of “ A..” is added via a purse stuffed animal. Pretty in line with practicality through the crib sheets, tassel skirt and mattress, all housed in a classic white crib.

  • After: Cozy corner

When guests visit the new nursery, Chris notices that they often refer to the room as “calm” and often just sit and rock in their chair.

“There is a lot of natural light and everything seems so open. It’s a room that’s inviting and a real treat, he shares. nine0019

The pair have created a nook ideal for feeding, reading and dreaming, with an upholstered wing chair, a cushion with pink tassels and a textured pouffe to rest tired feet. A modern floor lamp illuminates the corner, and a basket is filled with sleep-reading books. The side table is located nearby to hold small items. A rug in a traditional blue pattern is placed in the room.

  • After: Stylish spot

Although the initial space was simple, the couple’s style has changed over time and their ability to take on these projects has improved. They set a goal of saving around $5,000 in cost by using the pieces they already have and doing the job themselves. nine0019

“We got pretty close to it,” says Chris, adding that the biggest expense is furniture.

Here the changing table sits atop dark toner, combining form and function. A striped, interchangeable liner cushion sits under a chic yet uncomplicated round mirror. A table lamp with clean lines illuminates the area sitting next to the watercolor vase. The finishing touch is a special ultrasonic print serving as art and framed in acrylic. nine0019

  • Ready for baby

Chris and Julia can’t wait to meet their little girl and invite her to their new room. The process of creating a space, a new design and a new feel helped transform the room from something normal and routine into something new! Chris shares that one day when their little girl has outgrown the nursery, they intend to move their downstairs office into this room. With a refreshing, warm and inviting space, the couple hope this new nursery will be the first step in this new dynamic as a family of five. nine0097

Riverstone International School in USA | Tuition fees, admission requirements

Riverstone International School is a very young private school in Boise, Idaho. It was founded in 1997 and in just 21 years has managed to gain trust and an impeccable reputation.

In 2018, Riverstone was highly rated by Niche Best Schools experts. It was ranked #1 in the state among boarding and STEM schools, and ranked #30 boarding school in the US and one of the top 100 private high schools. The level of the school can also be seen in the quality of student training: in 2017, 100% of school graduates continued their education in 4-year colleges and universities in America and abroad. nine0019

Riverstone has 350 students. There are no more than 15 students in each class. All high school students study under the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The school community has students from over 45 countries. Riverstone students have time not only for studying but also for sports. School volleyball teams compete each fall for the western Idaho title in the county competition. In the spring, the honor of the school is defended by the basketball and soccer teams. And in winter, students go skiing and snowboarding at a nearby ski resort. Also at the school you can go swimming, athletics, fencing, kayaking, rock climbing and cycling.

The campus is relatively small – it occupies only 5 hectares.
